1 A nd immediately, in the morning, the chief priests having made a consultation, with the elders, and scribes, and the whole sanhedrim, having bound Jesus, did lead away, and delivered to Pilate;
Logo de manhã tiveram conselho os principais sacerdotes com os anciãos, os escribas e todo o sinédrio; e maniatando a Jesus, o levaram e o entregaram a Pilatos.
2 a nd Pilate questioned him, `Art thou the king of the Jews?' and he answering said to him, `Thou dost say.'
Pilatos lhe perguntou: És tu o rei dos judeus? Respondeu-lhe Jesus: É como dizes.
3 A nd the chief priests were accusing him of many things,
e os principais dos sacerdotes o acusavam de muitas coisas.
4 A nd Pilate again questioned him, saying, `Thou dost not answer anything! lo, how many things they do testify against thee!'
Tornou Pilatos a interrogá-lo, dizendo: Não respondes nada? Vê quantas acusações te fazem.
5 a nd Jesus did no more answer anything, so that Pilate wondered.
Mas Jesus nada mais respondeu, de maneira que Pilatos se admirava.
6 A nd at every feast he was releasing to them one prisoner, whomsoever they were asking;
Ora, por ocasião da festa costumava soltar-lhes um preso qualquer que eles pedissem.
7 a nd there was named Barabbas, bound with those making insurrection with him, who had in the insurrection committed murder.
E havia um, chamado Barrabás, preso com outros sediciosos, os quais num motim haviam cometido um homicídio.
8 A nd the multitude having cried out, began to ask for themselves as he was always doing to them,
E a multidão subiu e começou a pedir o que lhe costumava fazer.
9 a nd Pilate answered them, saying, `Will ye I shall release to you the king of the Jews?'
Ao que Pilatos lhes perguntou: Quereis que vos solte o rei dos judeus?
10 f or he knew that because of envy the chief priests had delivered him up;
Pois ele sabia que por inveja os principais sacerdotes lho haviam entregado.
11 a nd the chief priests did move the multitude, that he might rather release Barabbas to them.
Mas os principais sacerdotes incitaram a multidão a pedir que lhes soltasse antes a Barrabás.
12 A nd Pilate answering, again said to them, `What, then, will ye I shall do to him whom ye call king of the Jews?'
E Pilatos, tornando a falar, perguntou-lhes: Que farei então daquele a quem chamais reis dos judeus?
13 a nd they again cried out, `Crucify him.'
Novamente clamaram eles: Crucifica-o!
14 A nd Pilate said to them, `Why -- what evil did he?' and they cried out the more vehemently, `Crucify him;'
Disse-lhes Pilatos: Mas que mal fez ele? Ao que eles clamaram ainda mais: Crucifica-o!
15 a nd Pilate, wishing to content the multitude, released to them Barabbas, and delivered up Jesus -- having scourged -- that he might be crucified.
Então Pilatos, querendo satisfazer a multidão, soltou-lhe Barrabás; e tendo mandado açoitar a Jesus, o entregou para ser crucificado.
16 A nd the soldiers led him away into the hall, which is Praetorium, and call together the whole band,
Os soldados, pois, levaram-no para dentro, ao pátio, que é o pretório, e convocaram toda a coorte;
17 a nd clothe him with purple, and having plaited a crown of thorns, they put on him,
vestiram-no de púrpura e puseram-lhe na cabeça uma coroa de espinhos que haviam tecido;
18 a nd began to salute him, `Hail, King of the Jews.'
e começaram a saudá-lo: Salve, rei dos judeus!
19 A nd they were smiting him on the head with a reed, and were spitting on him, and having bent the knee, were bowing to him,
Davam-lhe com uma cana na cabeça, cuspiam nele e, postos de joelhos, o adoravam.
20 a nd when they mocked him, they took the purple from off him, and clothed him in his own garments, and they led him forth, that they may crucify him.
Depois de o terem assim escarnecido, despiram-lhe a púrpura, e lhe puseram as vestes. Então o levaram para fora, a fim de o crucificarem.
21 A nd they impress a certain one passing by -- Simon, a Cyrenian, coming from the field, the father of Alexander and Rufus -- that he may bear his cross,
E obrigaram certo Simão, cireneu, pai de Alexandre e de Rufo, que por ali passava, vindo do campo, a carregar-lhe a cruz.
22 a nd they bring him to the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, `Place of a skull;'
Levaram-no, pois, ao lugar do Gólgota, que quer dizer, lugar da Caveira.
23 a nd they were giving him to drink wine mingled with myrrh, and he did not receive.
E ofereciam-lhe vinho misturado com mirra; mas ele não o tomou.
24 A nd having crucified him, they were dividing his garments, casting a lot upon them, what each may take;
Então o crucificaram, e repartiram entre si as vestes dele, lançando sortes sobre elas para ver o que cada um levaria.
25 a nd it was the third hour, and they crucified him;
E era a hora terceira quando o crucificaram.
26 a nd the inscription of his accusation was written above -- `The King of the Jews.'
Por cima dele estava escrito o título da sua acusação: O REI DOS JUDEUS.
27 A nd with him they crucify two robbers, one on the right hand, and one on his left,
Também, com ele, crucificaram dois salteadores, um ã sua direita, e outro ã esquerda.
28 a nd the Writing was fulfilled that is saying, `And with lawless ones he was numbered.'
29 A nd those passing by were speaking evil of him, shaking their heads, and saying, `Ah, the thrower down of the sanctuary, and in three days the builder!
E os que iam passando blasfemavam dele, meneando a cabeça e dizendo: Ah! tu que destróis o santuário e em três dias o reedificas.
30 s ave thyself, and come down from the cross!'
salva-te a ti mesmo, descendo da cruz.
31 A nd in like manner also the chief priests, mocking with one another, with the scribes, said, `Others he saved; himself he is not able to save.
De igual modo também os principais sacerdotes, com os escribas, escarnecendo-o, diziam entre si: A outros salvou; a si mesmo não pode salvar;
32 T he Christ! the king of Israel -- let him come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe;' and those crucified with him were reproaching him.
desça agora da cruz o Cristo, o rei de Israel, para que vejamos e creiamos, Também os que com ele foram crucificados o injuriavam.
33 A nd the sixth hour having come, darkness came over the whole land till the ninth hour,
E, chegada a hora sexta, houve trevas sobre a terra, até a hora nona.
34 a nd at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a great voice, saying, `Eloi, Eloi, lamma sabachthani?' which is, being interpreted, `My God, my God, why didst Thou forsake me?'
E, ã hora nona, bradou Jesus em alta voz: Eloí, Eloí, lamá, sabactani? que, traduzido, é: Deus meu, Deus meu, por que me desamparaste?
35 A nd certain of those standing by, having heard, said, `Lo, Elijah he doth call;'
Alguns dos que ali estavam, ouvindo isso, diziam: Eis que chama por Elias.
36 a nd one having run, and having filled a spunge with vinegar, having put also on a reed, was giving him to drink, saying, `Let alone, let us see if Elijah doth come to take him down.'
Correu um deles, ensopou uma esponja em vinagre e, pondo-a numa cana, dava-lhe de beber, dizendo: Deixai, vejamos se Elias virá tirá-lo.
37 A nd Jesus having uttered a loud cry, yielded the spirit,
Mas Jesus, dando um grande brado, expirou.
38 a nd the veil of the sanctuary was rent in two, from top to bottom,
Então o véu do santuário se rasgou em dois, de alto a baixo.
39 a nd the centurion who was standing over-against him, having seen that, having so cried out, he yielded the spirit, said, `Truly this man was Son of God.'
Ora, o centurião, que estava defronte dele, vendo-o assim expirar, disse: Verdadeiramente este homem era filho de Deus.
40 A nd there were also women afar off beholding, among whom was also Mary the Magdalene, and Mary of James the less, and of Joses, and Salome,
Também ali estavam algumas mulheres olhando de longe, entre elas Maria Madalena, Maria, mãe de Tiago o Menor e de José, e Salomé;
41 ( who also, when he was in Galilee, were following him, and were ministering to him,) and many other women who came up with him to Jerusalem.
as quais o seguiam e o serviam quando ele estava na Galiléia; e muitas outras que tinham subido com ele a Jerusalém.
42 A nd now evening having come, seeing it was the preparation, that is, the fore-sabbath,
Ao cair da tarde, como era o dia da preparação, isto é, a véspera do sábado,
43 J oseph of Arimathea, an honourable counsellor, who also himself was waiting for the reign of God, came, boldly entered in unto Pilate, and asked the body of Jesus.
José de Arimatéia, ilustre membro do sinédrio, que também esperava o reino de Deus, cobrando ânimo foi Pilatos e pediu o corpo de Jesus.
44 A nd Pilate wondered if he were already dead, and having called near the centurion, did question him if he were long dead,
Admirou-se Pilatos de que já tivesse morrido; e chamando o centurião, perguntou-lhe se, de fato, havia morrido.
45 a nd having known from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph.
E, depois que o soube do centurião, cedeu o cadáver a José;
46 A nd he, having brought fine linen, and having taken him down, wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre that had been hewn out of a rock, and he rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre,
o qual, tendo comprado um pano de linho, tirou da cruz o corpo, envolveu-o no pano e o depositou num sepulcro aberto em rocha; e rolou uma pedra para a porta do sepulcro.
47 a nd Mary the Magdalene, and Mary of Joses, were beholding where he is laid.
E Maria Madalena e Maria, mãe de José, observavam onde fora posto.
