1 A nd immediately, in the morning, the chief priests having made a consultation, with the elders, and scribes, and the whole sanhedrim, having bound Jesus, did lead away, and delivered to Pilate;

А первосвященики з старшими й книжниками, та ввесь синедріон, зараз уранці, нараду вчинивши, зв'язали Ісуса, повели та й Пилатові видали.

2 a nd Pilate questioned him, `Art thou the king of the Jews?' and he answering said to him, `Thou dost say.'

А Пилат запитався Його: Чи Ти Цар Юдейський? А Він йому в відповідь каже: Сам ти кажеш...

3 A nd the chief priests were accusing him of many things,

А первосвященики міцно Його винуватили.

4 A nd Pilate again questioned him, saying, `Thou dost not answer anything! lo, how many things they do testify against thee!'

Тоді Пилат знову Його запитав і сказав: Ти нічого не відповідаєш? Дивись, як багато проти Тебе свідкують!

5 a nd Jesus did no more answer anything, so that Pilate wondered.

А Ісус більш нічого не відповідав, так що Пилат дивувався.

6 A nd at every feast he was releasing to them one prisoner, whomsoever they were asking;

На свято ж він їм відпускав був одного із в'язнів, котрого просили вони.

7 a nd there was named Barabbas, bound with those making insurrection with him, who had in the insurrection committed murder.

Був же один, що звався Варавва, ув'язнений разом із повстанцями, які за повстання вчинили були душогубство.

8 A nd the multitude having cried out, began to ask for themselves as he was always doing to them,

Коли ж натовп зібрався, він став просити Пилата зробити, як він завжди робив їм.

9 a nd Pilate answered them, saying, `Will ye I shall release to you the king of the Jews?'

Пилат же сказав їм у відповідь: Хочете, відпущу вам Царя Юдейського?

10 f or he knew that because of envy the chief priests had delivered him up;

Бо він знав, що Його через заздрощі видали первосвященики.

11 a nd the chief priests did move the multitude, that he might rather release Barabbas to them.

А первосвященики натовп підмовили, щоб краще пустив їм Варавву.

12 A nd Pilate answering, again said to them, `What, then, will ye I shall do to him whom ye call king of the Jews?'

Пилат же промовив ізнов їм у відповідь: А що ж я чинитиму з Тим, що Його ви Юдейським Царем називаєте?

13 a nd they again cried out, `Crucify him.'

Вони ж стали кричати знов: Розіпни Його!

14 A nd Pilate said to them, `Why -- what evil did he?' and they cried out the more vehemently, `Crucify him;'

Пилат же сказав їм: Яке ж зло вчинив Він? А вони ще сильніше кричали: Розіпни Його!...

15 a nd Pilate, wishing to content the multitude, released to them Barabbas, and delivered up Jesus -- having scourged -- that he might be crucified.

Пилат же хотів догодити народові, і відпустив їм Варавву. І видав Ісуса, збичувавши, щоб розп'ятий був.

16 A nd the soldiers led him away into the hall, which is Praetorium, and call together the whole band,

Вояки ж повели Його до середини двору, цебто в преторій, і цілий відділ скликають.

17 a nd clothe him with purple, and having plaited a crown of thorns, they put on him,

І вони зодягли Його в багряницю і, сплівши з тернини вінка, поклали на Нього.

18 a nd began to salute him, `Hail, King of the Jews.'

І вітати Його зачали: Радій, Царю Юдейський!

19 A nd they were smiting him on the head with a reed, and were spitting on him, and having bent the knee, were bowing to him,

І тростиною по голові Його били, і плювали на Нього. І навколішки кидалися та вклонялись Йому...

20 a nd when they mocked him, they took the purple from off him, and clothed him in his own garments, and they led him forth, that they may crucify him.

І коли назнущалися з Нього, зняли з Нього багряницю, і наділи на Нього одежу Його. І Його повели, щоб розп'ясти Його.

21 A nd they impress a certain one passing by -- Simon, a Cyrenian, coming from the field, the father of Alexander and Rufus -- that he may bear his cross,

І одного перехожого, що з поля вертався, Симона Кірінеянина, батька Олександра та Руфа, змусили, щоб хреста Йому ніс.

22 a nd they bring him to the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, `Place of a skull;'

І Його привели на місце Голгофу, що значить Череповище.

23 a nd they were giving him to drink wine mingled with myrrh, and he did not receive.

І давали Йому пити вина, із миррою змішаного, але Він не прийняв.

24 A nd having crucified him, they were dividing his garments, casting a lot upon them, what each may take;

І Його розп'яли, і поділили одежу Його, кинувши жереб про неї, хто що візьме.

25 a nd it was the third hour, and they crucified him;

Була ж третя година, як Його розп'яли.

26 a nd the inscription of his accusation was written above -- `The King of the Jews.'

І був написаний напис провини Його: Цар Юдейський.

27 A nd with him they crucify two robbers, one on the right hand, and one on his left,

Тоді розп'ято з Ним двох розбійників, одного праворуч, і одного ліворуч Його.

28 a nd the Writing was fulfilled that is saying, `And with lawless ones he was numbered.'

І збулося Писання, що каже: До злочинців Його зараховано!

29 A nd those passing by were speaking evil of him, shaking their heads, and saying, `Ah, the thrower down of the sanctuary, and in three days the builder!

А хто побіч проходив, то Його лихословили, головами своїми хитали й казали: Отак! Ти, що храма руйнуєш та за три дні будуєш,

30 s ave thyself, and come down from the cross!'

зійди із хреста, та спаси Самого Себе!

31 A nd in like manner also the chief priests, mocking with one another, with the scribes, said, `Others he saved; himself he is not able to save.

Теж і первосвященики з книжниками глузували й один до одного казали: Він інших спасав, а Самого Себе не може спасти!

32 T he Christ! the king of Israel -- let him come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe;' and those crucified with him were reproaching him.

Христос, Цар Ізраїлів, нехай зійде тепер із хреста, щоб побачили ми та й увірували. Навіть ті, що разом із Ним були розп'яті, насміхалися з Нього...

33 A nd the sixth hour having come, darkness came over the whole land till the ninth hour,

А як шоста година настала, то аж до години дев'ятої темрява стала по цілій землі.

34 a nd at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a great voice, saying, `Eloi, Eloi, lamma sabachthani?' which is, being interpreted, `My God, my God, why didst Thou forsake me?'

О годині ж дев'ятій Ісус скрикнув голосом гучним та й вимовив: Елої, Елої, лама савахтані, що в перекладі значить: Боже Мій, Боже Мій, нащо Мене Ти покинув?

35 A nd certain of those standing by, having heard, said, `Lo, Elijah he doth call;'

Дехто ж із тих, що стояли навколо, це почули й казали: Ось Він кличе Іллю!

36 a nd one having run, and having filled a spunge with vinegar, having put also on a reed, was giving him to drink, saying, `Let alone, let us see if Elijah doth come to take him down.'

А один із них побіг, намочив губку оцтом, настромив на тростину, і давав Йому пити й казав: Чекайте, побачим, чи прийде Ілля Його зняти!

37 A nd Jesus having uttered a loud cry, yielded the spirit,

А Ісус скрикнув голосом гучним, і духа віддав!...

38 a nd the veil of the sanctuary was rent in two, from top to bottom,

І в храмі завіса роздерлась надвоє, від верху аж додолу.

39 a nd the centurion who was standing over-against him, having seen that, having so cried out, he yielded the spirit, said, `Truly this man was Son of God.'

А сотник, що насупроти Нього стояв, як побачив, що Він отак духа віддав, то промовив: Чоловік Цей був справді Син Божий!

40 A nd there were also women afar off beholding, among whom was also Mary the Magdalene, and Mary of James the less, and of Joses, and Salome,

Були ж і жінки, що дивились здалека, між ними Марія Магдалина, і Марія, мати Якова Молодшого та Йосії, і Саломія,

41 ( who also, when he was in Galilee, were following him, and were ministering to him,) and many other women who came up with him to Jerusalem.

що вони, як Він був у Галілеї, ходили за Ним та Йому прислуговували; і інших багато, що до Єрусалиму прийшли з Ним.

42 A nd now evening having come, seeing it was the preparation, that is, the fore-sabbath,

А коли настав вечір, через те, що було Приготовлення, цебто перед суботою,

43 J oseph of Arimathea, an honourable counsellor, who also himself was waiting for the reign of God, came, boldly entered in unto Pilate, and asked the body of Jesus.

прийшов Йосип із Ариматеї, радник поважний, що сам сподівавсь Царства Божого, і сміливо ввійшов до Пилата, і просив тіла Ісусового.

44 A nd Pilate wondered if he were already dead, and having called near the centurion, did question him if he were long dead,

А Пилат здивувався, щоб Він міг уже вмерти. І, покликавши сотника, запитався його, чи давно вже Розп'ятий помер.

45 a nd having known from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph.

І, дізнавшись від сотника, він подарував тіло Йосипові.

46 A nd he, having brought fine linen, and having taken him down, wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre that had been hewn out of a rock, and he rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre,

А Йосип купив плащаницю, і, знявши Його, обгорнув плащаницею, та й поклав Його в гробі, що в скелі був висічений. І каменя привалив до могильних дверей.

47 a nd Mary the Magdalene, and Mary of Joses, were beholding where he is laid.

Марія ж Магдалина й Марія, мати Йосієва, дивилися, де ховали Його.
