1 A nd Saul was assenting to his death, and there came in that day a great persecution upon the assembly in Jerusalem, all also were scattered abroad in the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles;

А Савл похваляв його вбивство. І утиск великий постав того дня проти єрусалимської Церкви, і всі, крім апостолів, розпорошилися по краях юдейських та самарійських.

2 a nd devout men carried away Stephen, and made great lamentation over him;

І поховали Степана мужі побожні, і плакали ревно за ним.

3 a nd Saul was making havoc of the assembly, into every house entering, and haling men and women, was giving them up to prison;

А Савл нищив Церкву, вдирався в доми, витягав чоловіків і жінок та давав до в'язниці...

4 t hey then indeed, having been scattered, went abroad proclaiming good news -- the word.

Ходили тоді розпорошенці, та Боже Слово благовістили.

5 A nd Philip having gone down to a city of Samaria, was preaching to them the Christ,

Ось Пилип прийшов до самарійського міста, і проповідував їм про Христа.

6 t he multitudes also were giving heed to the things spoken by Philip, with one accord, in their hearing and seeing the signs that he was doing,

А люди вважали на те, що Пилип говорив, і згідно слухали й бачили чуда, які він чинив.

7 f or unclean spirits came forth from many who were possessed, crying with a loud voice, and many who have been paralytic and lame were healed,

Із багатьох бо, що мали їх, духи нечисті виходили з криком великим, і багато розслаблених та кривих уздоровилися.

8 a nd there was great joy in that city.

І радість велика в тім місті була!

9 A nd a certain man, by name Simon, was before in the city using magic, and amazing the nation of Samaria, saying himself to be a certain great one,

Був один чоловік, на ім'я йому Симон, що до того в цім місті займавсь ворожбитством та дурив самарійський народ, видаючи себе за якогось великого.

10 t o whom they were all giving heed, from small unto great, saying, `This one is the great power of God;'

Його слухали всі, від найменшого аж до найбільшого, кажучи: Він сила Божа, що зветься велика!

11 a nd they were giving heed to him, because of his having for a long time amazed them with deeds of magic.

Його ж слухалися, бо він їх довший час дивував ворожбитством.

12 A nd when they believed Philip, proclaiming good news, the things concerning the reign of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized both men and women;

Та коли йняли віри Пилипові, що благовістив про Боже Царство й Ім'я Ісуса Христа, чоловіки й жінки охристилися.

13 a nd Simon also himself did believe, and, having been baptized, he was continuing with Philip, beholding also signs and mighty acts being done, he was amazed.

Увірував навіть сам Симон, і, охристившись, тримався Пилипа; а бачивши чуда й знамена великі, він дуже дивувався.

14 A nd the apostles in Jerusalem having heard that Samaria hath received the word of God, did send unto them Peter and John,

Як зачули ж апостоли, які в Єрусалимі були, що Боже Слово прийняла Самарія, то послали до них Петра та Івана.

15 w ho having come down did pray concerning them, that they may receive the Holy Spirit, --

А вони, як прийшли, помолились за них, щоб Духа Святого вони прийняли,

16 f or as yet he was fallen upon none of them, and only they have been baptized -- to the name of the Lord Jesus;

бо ще ні на одного з них Він не сходив, а були вони тільки охрищені в Ім'я Господа Ісуса.

17 t hen were they laying hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

Тоді на них руки поклали, і прийняли вони Духа Святого!

18 A nd Simon, having beheld that through the laying on of the hands of the apostles, the Holy Spirit is given, brought before them money,

Як побачив же Симон, що через накладання апостольських рук Святий Дух подається, то приніс він їм гроші,

19 s aying, `Give also to me this authority, that on whomsoever I may lay the hands, he may receive the Holy Spirit.'

і сказав: Дайте й мені таку владу, щоб той, на кого покладу свої руки, одержав би Духа Святого!

20 A nd Peter said unto him, `Thy silver with thee -- may it be to destruction! because the gift of God thou didst think to possess through money;

Та промовив до нього Петро: Нехай згине з тобою те срібло твоє, бо ти думав набути дар Божий за гроші!

21 t hou hast neither part nor lot in this thing, for thy heart is not right before God;

У цім ділі нема тобі частки ні уділу, бо серце твоє перед Богом не слушне.

22 r eform, therefore, from this thy wickedness, and beseech God, if then the purpose of thy heart may be forgiven thee,

Тож покайся за це лихе діло своє, і проси Господа, може прощений буде тобі замір серця твого!

23 f or in the gall of bitterness, and bond of unrighteousness, I perceive thee being.'

Бо я бачу, що ти пробуваєш у жовчі гіркій та в путах неправди.

24 A nd Simon answering, said, `Beseech ye for me unto the Lord, that nothing may come upon me of the things ye have spoken.'

А Симон озвався й сказав: Помоліться за мене до Господа, щоб мене не спіткало нічого з того, про що ви говорили...

25 T hey indeed, therefore, having testified fully, and spoken the word of the Lord, did turn back to Jerusalem; in many villages also of the Samaritans they did proclaim good news.

А вони ж, засвідчивши, і Слово Господнє звістивши, повернулись до Єрусалиму, і звіщали Євангелію в багатьох самарійських оселях.

26 A nd a messenger of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, `Arise, and go on toward the south, on the way that is going down from Jerusalem to Gaza,' -- this is desert.

А Ангол Господній промовив Пилипові, кажучи: Устань та на південь іди, на дорогу, що від Єрусалиму до Гази спускається, порожня вона.

27 A nd having arisen, he went on, and lo, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch, a man of rank, of Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who was over all her treasure, who had come to worship to Jerusalem;

І, вставши, пішов він. І ось муж етіопський, скопець, вельможа Кандаки, цариці етіопської, що був над усіма її скарбами, що до Єрусалиму прибув поклонитись,

28 h e was also returning, and is sitting on his chariot, and he was reading the prophet Isaiah.

вертався, і, сидючи на повозі своїм, читав пророка Ісаю.

29 A nd the Spirit said to Philip, `Go near, and be joined to this chariot;'

А Дух до Пилипа промовив: Підійди, та й пристань до цього повозу.

30 a nd Philip having run near, heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, `Dost thou then know what thou dost read?'

Пилип же підбіг і почув, що той читає пророка Ісаю, та й спитав: Чи розумієш, що ти читаєш?

31 a nd he said, `Why, how am I able, if some one may not guide me?' he called Philip also, having come up, to sit with him.

А той відказав: Як же можу, як ніхто не напутить мене? І впросив він Пилипа піднятись та сісти з ним.

32 A nd the contents of the Writing that he was reading was this: `As a sheep unto slaughter he was led, and as a lamb before his shearer dumb, so he doth not open his mouth;

А слово Писання, що його він читав, було це: Як вівцю на заріз Його ведено, і як ягня супроти стрижія безголосе, так Він не відкрив Своїх уст!

33 i n his humiliation his judgment was taken away, and his generation -- who shall declare? because taken from the earth is his life.'

У приниженні суд Йому віднятий був, а про рід Його хто розповість? Бо життя Його із землі забирається...

34 A nd the eunuch answering Philip said, `I pray thee, about whom doth the prophet say this? about himself, or about some other one?'

Відізвався ж скопець до Пилипа й сказав: Благаю тебе, це про кого говорить пророк? Чи про себе, чи про іншого кого?

35 a nd Philip having opened his mouth, and having begun from this Writing, proclaimed good news to him -- Jesus.

А Пилип відкрив уста свої, і, зачавши від цього Писання, благовістив про Ісуса йому.

36 A nd as they were going on the way, they came upon a certain water, and the eunuch said, `Lo, water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?'

І, як шляхом вони їхали, прибули до якоїсь води. І озвався скопець: Ось вода. Що мені заважає христитись?

37

А Пилип відказав: Якщо віруєш із повного серця свого, то можна. А той відповів і сказав: Я вірую, що Ісус Христос то Син Божий!

38 a nd he commanded the chariot to stand still, and they both went down to the water, both Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him;

І звелів, щоб повіз спинився. І обидва Пилип та скопець увійшли до води, і охристив він його.

39 a nd when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, and the eunuch saw him no more, for he was going on his way rejoicing;

А коли вони вийшли з води, Дух Господній Пилипа забрав, і скопець уже більше не бачив його. І він їхав, радіючи, шляхом своїм.

40 a nd Philip was found at Azotus, and passing through, he was proclaiming good news to all the cities, till his coming to Cesarea.

А Пилип опинився в Азоті, і, переходячи, звіщав Євангелію всім містам, аж поки прийшов у Кесарію.
