1 A nd gathered together unto him are the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, having come from Jerusalem,

І зібрались до Нього фарисеї та деякі з книжників, які прибули із Єрусалиму,

2 a nd having seen certain of his disciples with defiled hands -- that is, unwashed -- eating bread, they found fault;

і побачили, що деякі з учнів Його їли хліб руками нечистими, цебто невмитими.

3 f or the Pharisees, and all the Jews, if they do not wash the hands to the wrist, do not eat, holding the tradition of the elders,

Бо фарисеї й усі юдеї, зберігаючи передання старших, не їдять, як старанно не вимиють рук;

4 a nd, from the market-place, if they do not baptize themselves, they do not eat; and many other things there are that they received to hold, baptisms of cups, and pots, and brazen vessels, and couches.

а вернувшися з ринку, вони ні їдять, поки не вмиються. Багато є й іншого, що вони прийняли, щоб додержувати: миття чаш, і глеків, і мідяного посуду.

5 T hen question him do the Pharisees and the scribes, `Wherefore do thy disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but with unwashed hands do eat the bread?'

І запитали Його фарисеї та книжники: Чому учні Твої не живуть за переданням старших, але хліб споживають руками нечистими?

6 a nd he answering said to them -- `Well did Isaiah prophesy concerning you, hypocrites, as it hath been written, This people with the lips doth honor Me, and their heart is far from Me;

А Він їм відказав: Добре пророкував про вас, лицемірів, Ісая, як написано: Оці люди устами шанують Мене, серце ж їхнє далеко від Мене...

7 a nd in vain do they worship Me, teaching teachings, commands of men;

Та однак надаремне шанують Мене, бо навчають наук людських заповідей.

8 f or, having put away the command of God, ye hold the tradition of men, baptisms of pots and cups; and many other such like things ye do.'

Занехаявши заповідь Божу, передань людських ви тримаєтесь: обмиваєте глеки та чаші, і багато такого подібного й іншого робите ви.

9 A nd he said to them, `Well do ye put away the command of God that your tradition ye may keep;

І сказав Він до них: Спритно відкидаєте ви заповідь Божу, аби зберегти своє передання.

10 f or Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, He who is speaking evil of father or mother -- let him die the death;

Бо Мойсей наказав: Шануй батька свого та матір свою, та: Хто злорічить на батька чи матір, нехай смертю помре.

11 a nd ye say, If a man may say to father or to mother, Korban (that is, a gift), whatever thou mayest be profited out of mine,

А ви кажете: Коли скаже хто батьку чи матері: Корван, чи дар Богові те, чим би ти скористатись від мене хотів,

12 a nd no more do ye suffer him to do anything for his father or for his mother,

то вже вільно йому не робити нічого для батька чи матері,

13 s etting aside the word of God for your tradition that ye delivered; and many such like things ye do.'

порушуючи Боже Слово вашим переданням, що його ви самі встановили. І багато такого ви іншого робите.

14 A nd having called near all the multitude, he said to them, `Hearken to me, ye all, and understand;

І Він знову покликав народ і промовив до нього: Послухайте Мене всі, і зрозумійте!

15 t here is nothing from without the man entering into him that is able to defile him, but the things coming out from him, those are the things defiling the man.

Немає нічого назовні людини, що, увіходячи в неї, могло б опоганити її; що ж із неї виходить, те людину опоганює.

16 I f any hath ears to hear -- let him hear.'

Коли має хто вуха, щоб слухати, нехай слухає!

17 A nd when he entered into a house from the multitude, his disciples were questioning him about the simile,

А коли від народу ввійшов Він до дому, тоді учні Його запиталися в Нього про притчу.

18 a nd he saith to them, `So also ye are without understanding! Do ye not perceive that nothing from without entering into the man is able to defile him?

І Він їм відказав: Чи ж і ви розуміння не маєте? Хіба ж не розумієте ви, що все те, що входить іззовні в людину, не може опоганити її?

19 b ecause it doth not enter into his heart, but into the belly, and into the drain it doth go out, purifying all the meats.'

Бо не входить до серця йому, але до живота, і виходить назовні, очищуючи всяку їжу.

20 A nd he said -- `That which is coming out from the man, that doth defile the man;

А далі сказав Він: Що з людини виходить, те людину опоганює.

21 f or from within, out of the heart of men, the evil reasonings do come forth, adulteries, whoredoms, murders,

Бо зсередини, із людського серця виходять лихі думки, розпуста, крадіж, душогубства,

22 t hefts, covetous desires, wickedness, deceit, arrogance, an evil eye, evil speaking, pride, foolishness;

перелюби, здирства, лукавства, підступ, безстидства, завидющеє око, богозневага, гордощі, безум.

23 a ll these evils do come forth from within, and they defile the man.'

Усе зле це виходить зсередини, і людину опоганює!

24 A nd from thence having risen, he went away to the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and having entered into the house, he wished none to know, and he was not able to be hid,

І встав Він, і звідти пішов у землю тирську й сидонську. І, ввійшовши до дому, Він хотів, щоб ніхто не довідавсь, та не міг утаїтись.

25 f or a woman having heard about him, whose little daughter had an unclean spirit, having come, fell at his feet, --

Негайно бо жінка одна, якої дочка мала духа нечистого, прочула про Нього, і прийшла, та й припала до ніг Йому.

26 a nd the woman was a Greek, a Syro-Phenician by nation -- and was asking him, that the demon he may cast forth out of her daughter.

А ця жінка грекиня була, родом сирофінікіянка. Вона стала благати Його, щоб із дочки її демона вигнав.

27 A nd Jesus said to her, `Suffer first the children to be filled, for it is not good to take the children's bread, and to cast to the little dogs.'

А Він їй сказав: Дай, щоб перше наїлися діти, не годиться бо хліб забирати в дітей, і кинути щенятам!

28 A nd she answered and saith to him, `Yes, sir; for the little dogs also under the table do eat of the children's crumbs.'

А вона Йому в відповідь каже: Так, Господи! Але навіть щенята їдять під столом від дитячих кришок...

29 A nd he said to her, `Because of this word go; the demon hath gone forth out of thy daughter;'

І Він їй сказав: За слово оце йди собі, демон вийшов із твоєї дочки!

30 a nd having come away to her house, she found the demon gone forth, and the daughter laid upon the couch.

А коли вона в дім свій вернулась, то знайшла, що дочка на постелі лежала, а демон вийшов із неї.

31 A nd again, having gone forth from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, he came unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis,

І вийшов Він знов із країв тирських і сидонських, і подався шляхом на Сидон над море Галілейське, через околиці Десятимістя.

32 a nd they bring to him a deaf, stuttering man, and they call on him that he may put the hand on him.

І приводять до Нього глухого немову, і благають Його, щоб руку на нього поклав.

33 A nd having taken him away from the multitude by himself, he put his fingers to his ears, and having spit, he touched his tongue,

І взяв Він його від народу самого, і вклав пальці Свої йому в вуха, і, сплюнувши, доторкнувся його язика.

34 a nd having looked to the heaven, he sighed, and saith to him, `Ephphatha,' that is, `Be thou opened;'

І, на небо споглянувши, Він зідхнув і промовив до нього: Еффата; цебто: Відкрийся!

35 a nd immediately were his ears opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he was speaking plain.

І відкрилися вуха йому, і путо його язика розв'язалось негайно, і він став говорити виразно!

36 A nd he charged them that they may tell no one, but the more he was charging them, the more abundantly they were proclaiming,

А Він їм звелів, щоб нікому цього не розповідали. Та що більше наказував їм, то ще більш розголошували.

37 a nd they were being beyond measure astonished, saying, `Well hath he done all things; both the deaf he doth make to hear, and the dumb to speak.'

І дуже всі дивувалися та говорили: Він добре все робить: глухим дає чути, а німим говорити!
