1 A nd Jehoshaphat his son reigneth in his stead, and he strengtheneth himself against Israel,

А замість нього зацарював син його Йосафат, та зміцнився над Ізраїлем.

2 a nd putteth a force in all the fenced cities of Judah, and putteth garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim that Asa his father had captured.

І поставив він військо по всіх укріплених Юдиних містах, і дав залоги в Юдиному краї та в Єфремових містах, які був здобув його батько Аса.

3 A nd Jehovah is with Jehoshaphat, for he hath walked in the first ways of David his father, and hath not sought to Baalim,

І був Господь з Йосафатом, бо він ходив першими дорогами батька свого Давида, і не шукав Ваалів.

4 f or to the God of his father he hath sought, and in His commands he hath walked, and not according to the work of Israel.

Бо він звертався до Бога свого батька, і ходив за Його заповідями, а не за чином Ізраїля.

5 A nd Jehovah doth establish the kingdom in his hand, and all Judah give a present to Jehoshaphat, and he hath riches and honour in abundance,

І Господь зміцнив його царство в руці його, і вся Юдея давала дарунка Йосафатові, і було в нього багато багатства та слави.

6 a nd his heart is high in the ways of Jehovah, and again he hath turned aside the high places and the shrines out of Judah.

І повищилось серце його на Господніх дорогах, і він іще повсовував пагірки та Астарти з Юди.

7 A nd in the third year of his reign he hath sent for his heads, for Ben-Hail, and for Obadiah, and for Zechariah, and for Nethaneel, and for Michaiah, to teach in cities of Judah,

А третього року свого царювання послав він до своїх зверхників, до Бен-Хаїла, і до Овадії, і до Захарія, і до Натанаїла, і до Міхаї, щоб вони навчали в Юдиних містах.

8 a nd with them the Levites, Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijath, and Tob-Adonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.

А з ними були Левити: Шемая, і Натанія, і Зевадія, і Асаїл, і Шемірамот, і Єгонатан, і Адонійя, і Товійя, і Тов-Адонійя, Левити, а з ними Елішама та Єгорам, священики.

9 A nd they teach in Judah, and with them the Book of the Law of Jehovah, and they go round about into all cities of Judah, and teach among the people.

І навчали вони в Юдеї, а з ними була книга Закону Господнього. І ходили вони довкола по всіх Юдиних містах, і навчали серед народу.

10 A nd here is a fear of Jehovah on all kingdoms of the lands that round about Judah, and they have not fought with Jehoshaphat;

І був страх Господній на всіх царствах краю, що навколо Юди, і вони не воювали з Йосафатом.

11 a nd of the Philistines they are bringing in to Jehoshaphat a present, and tribute silver; also, the Arabians are bringing to him a flock, rams seven thousand an seven hundred, and he-goats seven thousand and seven hundred.

А від филистимлян приносили Йосафатові дари та срібло данини; також араби приводили йому дрібну худобу: сім тисяч і сім сотень баранів та сім тисяч і сім сотень козлів.

12 A nd Jehoshaphat is going on and becoming very great, and he buildeth in Judah palaces and cities of store,

І Йосафат усе зростав угору. І побудував він в Юді твердині та міста на запаси.

13 a nd he hath much work in cities of Judah; and men of war, mighty of valour, in Jerusalem.

І мав він багато добра по Юдиних містах, і мужів військових, хоробрих вояків в Єрусалимі.

14 A nd these their numbers, for the house of their fathers: Of Judah, heads of thousands, Adnah the head, and with him mighty ones of valour, three hundred chiefs.

А оце їхній перегляд, за домами їхніх батьків. Від Юди тисячники: зверхник Адна, а з ним три сотні тисяч хоробрих вояків.

15 A nd at his hand Jehohanan the head, and with him two hundred and eighty chiefs.

А при ньому зверхник Єгоханан, а з ним двісті й вісімдесят тисяч.

16 A nd at his hand Amasiah son of Zichri, who is willingly offering himself to Jehovah, and with him two hundred chiefs, mighty of valour.

А при ньому Амасія, син Зіхрі, що присвятив себе Господеві, а з ним двісті тисяч хоробрих вояків.

17 A nd of Benjamin: mighty of valour, Eliada, and with him, armed with bow and shield, two hundred chiefs.

А від Веніямина: хоробрий вояк Ел'яда, а з ним двісті тисяч узброєних луком та щитом.

18 A nd at his hand Jehozabad, and with him a hundred and eighty chiefs, armed ones of the host.

А при ньому Єгозавад, а з ним сто й вісімдесят тисяч узброєного війська.

19 T hese those serving the king, apart from those whom the king put in the cities of fortress, in all Judah.

Оці служили цареві, опріч тих, яких цар умістив по твердинних містах по всьому Юді.
