1 A nd it cometh to pass after these things that God hath tried Abraham, and saith unto him, `Abraham;' and he saith, `Here I.'

І сталось після цих випадків, що Бог випробовував Авраама. І сказав Він до нього: Аврааме! А той відказав: Ось я!

2 A nd He saith, `Take, I pray thee, thy son, thine only one, whom thou hast loved, even Isaac, and go for thyself unto the land of Moriah, and cause him to ascend there for a burnt-offering on one of the mountains of which I speak unto thee.'

І промовив Господь: Візьми свого сина, свого одинака, що його полюбив ти, Ісака, та й піди собі до краю Морія, і принеси там його в цілопалення на одній із тих гір, що про неї скажу тобі.

3 A nd Abraham riseth early in the morning, and saddleth his ass, and taketh two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and he cleaveth the wood of the burnt-offering, and riseth and goeth unto the place of which God hath spoken to him.

І встав Авраам рано вранці, і свого осла осідлав; і взяв із собою двох слуг та Ісака, сина свого, і для цілопалення дров нарубав. І встав, і пішов він до місця, що про нього сказав йому Бог.

4 O n the third day -- Abraham lifteth up his eyes, and seeth the place from afar;

А третього дня Авраам звів очі свої, та й побачив те місце здалека.

5 a nd Abraham saith unto his young men, `Remain by yourselves here with the ass, and I and the youth go yonder and worship, and turn back unto you.'

І сказав Авраам своїм слугам: Сідайте собі тут з ослом, а я й хлопець підем аж туди, і поклонимося, і повернемося до вас.

6 A nd Abraham taketh the wood of the burnt-offering, and placeth on Isaac his son, and he taketh in his hand the fire, and the knife; and they go on both of them together.

І взяв Авраам дрова для цілопалення, і поклав на Ісака, сина свого, і взяв в свою руку огонь та ножа, і пішли вони разом обоє.

7 A nd Isaac speaketh unto Abraham his father, and saith, `My father,' and he saith, `Here I, my son.' And he saith, `Lo, the fire and the wood, and where the lamb for a burnt-offering?'

І сказав Ісак до Авраама, свого батька, говорячи: Батьку мій! А той відказав: Ось я, сину мій! І промовив Ісак: Ось огонь та дрова, а де ж ягня на цілопалення?

8 a nd Abraham saith, `God doth provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt-offering, my son;' and they go on both of them together.

І відказав Авраам: Бог нагледить ягня Собі на цілопалення, сину мій! І пішли вони разом обоє.

9 A nd they come in unto the place of which God hath spoken to him, and there Abraham buildeth the altar, and arrangeth the wood, and bindeth Isaac his son, and placeth him upon the altar above the wood;

І вони прийшли до місця, що про нього сказав йому Бог. І збудував там Авраам жертівника, і дрова розклав, і зв'язав Ісака, сина свого, і поклав його на жертівника над дровами.

10 a nd Abraham putteth forth his hand, and taketh the knife -- to slaughter his son.

І простяг Авраам свою руку, і взяв ножа, щоб зарізати сина свого...

11 A nd the messenger of Jehovah calleth unto him from the heavens, and saith, `Abraham, Abraham;' and he saith, `Here I;'

Та озвався до нього Ангол Господній із неба й сказав: Аврааме, Аврааме! А той відізвався: Ось я!

12 a nd He saith, `Put not forth thine hand unto the youth, nor do anything to him, for now I have known that thou art fearing God, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only one, from Me.'

І Ангол промовив: Не витягай своєї руки до хлопця, і нічого йому не чини, бо тепер Я довідався, що ти богобійний, і не пожалів для Мене сина свого, одинака свого.

13 A nd Abraham lifteth up his eyes, and looketh, and lo, a ram behind, seized in a thicket by its horns; and Abraham goeth, and taketh the ram, and causeth it to ascend for a burnt-offering instead of his son;

А Авраам звів очі свої та й побачив, аж ось один баран зав'яз у гущавині своїми рогами. І пішов Авраам, і взяв барана, і приніс його на цілопалення замість сина свого.

14 a nd Abraham calleth the name of that place `Jehovah-Jireh,' because it is said this day in the mount, `Jehovah doth provide.'

І назвав Авраам ім'я місця того: Господь нагледить, що й сьогодні говориться: На горі Господь з'явиться.

15 A nd the messenger of Jehovah calleth unto Abraham a second time from the heavens,

А Ангол Господній із неба озвався до Авраама подруге,

16 a nd saith, `By Myself I have sworn -- the affirmation of Jehovah -- that because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only one --

і сказав: Клянуся Собою, це слово Господнє, тому, що вчинив ти цю річ, і не пожалів був сина свого, одинака свого,

17 t hat blessing I bless thee, and multiplying I multiply thy seed as stars of the heavens, and as sand which on the sea-shore; and thy seed doth possess the gate of his enemies;

то благословляючи, Я поблагословлю тебе, і розмножуючи, розмножу потомство твоє, немов зорі на небі, і немов той пісок, що на березі моря. І потомство твоє внаслідує брами твоїх ворогів.

18 a nd blessed themselves in thy seed have all nations of the earth, because that thou hast hearkened to My voice.'

І всі народи землі будуть потомством твоїм благословляти себе через те, що послухався ти Мого голосу.

19 A nd Abraham turneth back unto his young men, and they rise and go together unto Beer-Sheba; and Abraham dwelleth in Beer-Sheba.

І вернувсь Авраам до слуг своїх.

20 A nd it cometh to pass after these things that it is declared to Abraham, saying, `Lo, Milcah hath borne, even she, sons to Nahor thy brother:

І сталося по тих випадках, і сказано Авраамові так: Ось також Мілка вродила синів Нахорові, братові твоєму:

21 H uz his first-born, and Buz his brother; and Kemuel father of Aram,

Уца, перворідного його, і Буза, брата його, і Кемуїла, батька Арамового,

22 a nd Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel;

І Кеседа, і Хазо, і Пілдаша, і Їдлафа, і Бетуїла.

23 a nd Bethuel hath begotten Rebekah;' these eight hath Milcah borne to Nahor, Abraham's brother;

А Бетуїл породив Ревеку. Цих восьмерох породила Мілка Нахорові, братові Авраамовому.

24 a nd his concubine, whose name Reumah, she also hath borne Tebah, and Gaham, and Tahash, and Maachah.

А наложниця його а їй на ймення Реума вродила й вона Теваха й Ґахама, і Тахаша й Мааху.
