1 A nd Jehovah appeareth unto him among the oaks of Mamre, and he is sitting at the opening of the tent, about the heat of the day;

І явився до нього Господь між дубами Мамре, а він сидів при вході в намет під час денної спеки.

2 a nd he lifteth up his eyes and looketh, and lo, three men standing by him, and he seeth, and runneth to meet them from the opening of the tent, and boweth himself towards the earth,

І він ізвів очі свої та й побачив: ось три Мужі стоять біля нього. І побачив, і вибіг із входу намету назустріч Їм, і вклонився до землі,

3 A nd he saith, `My Lord, if, I pray thee, I have found grace in thine eyes, do not, I pray thee, pass on from thy servant;

та й промовив: Господи, коли тільки знайшов я милість в очах Твоїх, не проходь повз Свойого раба!

4 l et, I pray thee, a little water be accepted, and wash your feet, and recline under the tree;

Принесуть трохи води, і ноги Свої помийте, і спочиньте під деревом.

5 a nd I bring a piece of bread, and support ye your heart; afterwards pass on, for therefore have ye passed over unto your servant;' and they say, `So mayest thou do as thou has spoken.'

І хай хліба шматок принесу я, а Ви підкріпіть серце Ваше. Потому підете, бо на те Ви йдете повз свойого раба. І сказали вони: Зроби так, як сказав.

6 A nd Abraham hasteth towards the tent, unto Sarah, and saith, `Hasten three measures of flour-meal, knead, and make cakes;'

І Авраам поспішив до намету до Сарри й сказав: Візьми швидко три міри пшеничної муки, заміси, і зроби коржі.

7 a nd Abraham ran unto the herd, and taketh a son of the herd, tender and good, and giveth unto the young man, and he hasteth to prepare it;

І побіг Авраам до товару, і взяв молоде та добре теля, і дав слузі, а той швидко його приготовив.

8 a nd he taketh butter and milk, and the son of the herd which he hath prepared, and setteth before them; and he is standing by them under the tree, and they do eat.

І взяв масла й молока, та теля приготовлене, та й поклав перед Ними, а сам став біля Них під деревом. І їли Вони.

9 A nd they say unto him, `Where Sarah thy wife?' and he saith, `Lo -- in the tent;'

І сказали до нього: Де Сарра, жінка твоя? А він відказав: Ось у наметі.

10 a nd he saith, `returning I return unto thee, about the time of life, and lo, to Sarah thy wife a son.'

І сказав один з Них: Я напевно вернуся до тебе за рік цього самого часу. І ось буде син у Сарри, жінки твоєї... А Сарра це чула при вході намету, що був за Ним.

11 A nd Sarah is hearkening at the opening of the tent, which is behind him;

Авраам же та Сарра старі були, віку похилого. У Сарри перестало бувати звичайне жіноче.

12 a nd Abraham and Sarah aged, entering into days -- the way of women hath ceased to be to Sarah;

І засміялася Сарра в нутрі своїм, говорячи: Коли я зів'яла, то як станеться розкіш мені? Таж пан мій старий!

13 a nd Sarah laugheth in her heart, saying, `After I have waxed old I have had pleasure! -- my lord also old!'

І сказав Господь до Авраама: Чого то сміялася Сарра отак: Чи ж справді вроджу, коли я зостарілась?

14 A nd Jehovah saith unto Abraham, `Why this? Sarah hath laughed, saying, Is it true really -- I bear -- and I am aged? Is any thing too wonderful for Jehovah? at the appointed time I return unto thee, about the time of life, and Sarah hath a son.'

Чи для Господа є річ занадто трудна? На означений час Я вернуся до тебе за рік цього самого часу, Сарра ж тоді матиме сина.

15 A nd Sarah denieth, saying, `I did not laugh;' for she hath been afraid; and He saith, `Nay, but thou didst laugh.'

А Сарра відріклася, говорячи: Не сміялася я, бо боялась. Але Він відказав: Ні, таки сміялася ти!

16 A nd the men rise from thence, and look on the face of Sodom, and Abraham is going with them to send them away;

І повставали звідти ті Мужі, і поглянули на Содом, а Авраам пішов з Ними, щоб Їх відпровадити.

17 a nd Jehovah said, `Am I concealing from Abraham that which I am doing,

А Господь сказав: Чи Я від Авраама втаю, що Я маю зробити?

18 a nd Abraham certainly becometh a nation great and mighty, and blessed in him have been all nations of the earth?

Бож Авраам справді стане народом великим та дужим, і в ньому поблагословляться всі народи землі!

19 f or I have known him, that he commandeth his children, and his house after him (and they have kept the way of Jehovah), to do righteousness and judgment, that Jehovah may bring on Abraham that which He hath spoken concerning him.'

Бо вибрав Я його, щоб він наказав синам своїм і домові своєму по собі. І будуть вони дотримуватися дороги Господньої, щоб чинити справедливість та право, а то для того, щоб Господь здійснив на Авраамові, що сказав був про нього.

20 A nd Jehovah saith, `The cry of Sodom and Gomorrah -- because great; and their sin -- because exceeding grievous:

І промовив Господь: Через те, що крик Содому й Гомори великий, і що гріх їхній став дуже тяжкий,

21 I go down now, and see whether according to its cry which is coming unto Me they have done completely -- and if not -- I know;'

зійду ж Я та й побачу, чи не вчинили вони так, як крик про них, що доходить до Мене, тоді їм загибіль, а як ні то побачу.

22 a nd the men turn from thence, and go towards Sodom; and Abraham is yet standing before Jehovah.

І повернулися звідти ті Мужі, і пішли до Содому, а Авраам усе ще стояв перед Господнім лицем.

23 A nd Abraham draweth nigh and saith, `Dost Thou also consume righteous with wicked?

І Авраам підійшов та й промовив: Чи погубиш також праведного з нечестивим?

24 p eradventure there are fifty righteous in the midst of the city; dost Thou also consume, and not bear with the place for the sake of the fifty -- the righteous who in its midst?

Може є п'ятдесят праведних у цьому місті, чи також вигубиш і не пробачиш цій місцевості ради п'ятидесяти тих праведних, що в ньому є?

25 F ar be it from Thee to do according to this thing, to put to death the righteous with the wicked; that it hath been -- as the righteous so the wicked -- far be it from Thee; doth the Judge of all the earth not do justice?'

Не можна Тобі чинити так, щоб убити праведного з нечестивим, бо стане праведний як нечестивий, цього ж не можна Тобі! Чи ж Той, Хто всю землю судить, не вчинить правди?

26 A nd Jehovah saith, `If I find in Sodom fifty righteous in the midst of the city, then have I borne with all the place for their sake.'

І промовив Господь: Коли Я в Содомі, у цьому місті, знайду п'ятдесят праведних, то вибачу цілій місцевості ради них.

27 A nd Abraham answereth and saith, `Lo, I pray thee, I have willed to speak unto the Lord, and I -- dust and ashes;

І відповів Авраам та й промовив: Оце я осмілився був говорити до Господа свого, а я порох та попіл.

28 p eradventure there are lacking five of the fifty righteous -- dost Thou destroy for five the whole of the city?' and He saith, `I destroy not, if I find there forty and five.'

Може п'ятдесят тих праведних не матиме п'яти, чи Ти знищиш ціле місто через п'ятьох? І промовив Господь: Не знищу, коли там знайду сорок і п'ять!

29 A nd he addeth again to speak unto Him and saith, `Peradventure there are found there forty?' and He saith, `I do not, because of the forty.'

І промовив до Нього він ще, та й сказав: Може сорок там знайдеться? А Господь відказав: Не зроблю й ради сорока!

30 A nd he saith, `Let it not be, I Pray thee, displeasing to the Lord, and I speak: peradventure there are found there thirty?' and He saith, `I do not, if I find there thirty.'

І сказав Авраам: Хай не гніває це мого Господа, і нехай я скажу: Може тридцять там знайдеться? А Господь відказав: Не зроблю, коли й тридцять знайду там!

31 A nd he saith, `Lo, I pray thee, I have willed to speak unto the Lord: peradventure there are found there twenty?' and He saith, `I do not destroy, because of the twenty.'

І сказав Авраам: Оце я осмілився був говорити до Господа мого: Може двадцять там знайдеться? А Господь відказав: Не зроблю й ради двадцяти!

32 A nd he saith, `Let it not be, I pray Thee, displeasing to the Lord, and I speak only this time: peradventure there are found there ten?' and He saith, `I do not destroy, because of the ten.'

І сказав Авраам: Хай не гніває це мого Господа, і нехай я скажу тільки разу цього: Може хоч десять там знайдеться? А Господь відказав: Не знищу й ради десятьох!

33 A nd Jehovah goeth on, when He hath finished speaking unto Abraham, and Abraham hath turned back to his place.

І пішов Господь, як скінчив говорити до Авраама. А Авраам вернувся до свого місця.
