1 A nd Elisha the prophet hath called to one of the sons of the prophets, and saith to him, `Gird up thy loins, and take this vial of oil in thy hand, and go to Ramoth-Gilead,

А пророк Єлисей покликав одного з пророчих синів і сказав йому: Підпережи свої стегна, і візьми це горня оливи в свою руку, і йди до ґілеадського Рамоту.

2 a nd thou hast gone in there, and see thou there Jehu son of Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshi, and thou hast gone in, and caused him to rise out of the midst of his brethren, and brought him in to the inner part of an inner-chamber,

І прийдеш туди, і побач там Єгу, сина Йосафата, Німшієвого сина. І ти ввійдеш, і візьмеш його з-між братів його, і введеш його до внутрішньої кімнати.

3 a nd taken the vial of oil, and poured on his head, and said, Thus said Jehovah, I have anointed thee for king unto Israel; and thou hast opened the door, and fled, and dost not wait.'

І візьмеш горня цієї оливи, і виллєш на його голову та й скажеш: Так сказав Господь: Помазую тебе на царя над Ізраїлем! А по тому відчиниш двері й утечеш, і не будеш чекати.

4 A nd the young man goeth -- the young man the prophet -- to Ramoth-Gilead,

І пішов той слуга, слуга пророка, до ґілеадського Рамоту.

5 a nd cometh in, and lo, chiefs of the force are sitting, and he saith, `I have a word unto thee, O chief!' and Jehu saith, `Unto which of all of us?' and he saith, `Unto thee, O chief.'

І прийшов він, аж ось сидять керівники війська. І він сказав: Слово мені до тебе, о керівнику! А Єгу відказав: До кого з усіх нас? І той сказав: До тебе, о керівнику!

6 A nd he riseth and cometh in to the house, and he poureth the oil on his head, and saith to him, `Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, I have anointed thee for king unto the people of Jehovah, unto Israel,

І він устав, і вийшов до дому, а той вилив оливу на його голову. І сказав він йому: Так сказав Господь, Бог Ізраїля: Помазую тебе на царя над народом Господнім, над Ізраїлем!...

7 a nd thou hast smitten the house of Ahab thy lord, and I have required the blood of My servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of Jehovah, from the hand of Jezebel;

І ти поб'єш дім Ахава, пана свого, і помстиш за кров Моїх рабів пророків, і за кров усіх Господніх рабів від руки Єзавелі.

8 a nd perished hath all the house of Ahab, and I have cut off to Ahab those sitting on the wall, and restrained, and left, in Israel,

І згине ввесь Ахавів дім, і вигублю Ахавові навіть те, що мочиться на стіну, і невільного та вільного в Ізраїлі!

9 a nd I have given up the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat, and as the house of Baasha son of Ahijah,

І зроблю Ахавів дім, як дім Єровоама, Неватового сина, і як дім Баші, сина Ахійїного.

10 a nd Jezebel do the dogs eat in the portion of Jezreel, and there is none burying;' and he openeth the door and fleeth.

А Єзавелю з'їдять пси в Їзреелевій ділянці, і не буде, хто б її поховав. І відчинив він двері та й утік...

11 A nd Jehu hath gone out unto the servants of his lord, and saith to him, `Is there peace? wherefore came this madman unto thee?' and he saith unto them, `Ye have known the man and his talk.'

А Єгу вийшов до слуг свого пана, і вони сказали йому: Чи все гаразд? Чого приходив той несамовитий до тебе? А він відказав: Ви знаєте того чоловіка та його мову.

12 A nd they say, `False, declare, we pray thee, to us;' and he saith, `Thus and thus spake he unto me, saying, Thus said Jehovah, I have anointed thee for king unto Israel.'

А вони відказали: Неправда! Розкажи ж нам! І той сказав: Отак і так сказав він до мене, говорячи: Так сказав Господь: Помазую тебе на царя над Ізраїлем!

13 A nd they haste and take each his garment, and put under him at the top of the stairs, and blow with a trumpet, and say, `Reigned hath Jehu!'

А ті поспішно взяли кожен шати свої, і постелили під ним на верху сходів. І засурмили вони в сурму, і сказали: Зацарював Єгу!

14 A nd Jehu son of Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshi, conspireth against Joram -- (and Joram was keeping in Ramoth-Gilead, he and all Israel, from the presence of Hazael king of Aram,

І змовився Єгу, син Йосафата, Німшієвого сина, проти Йорама. А Йорам стеріг ґілеадського Рамота, він та ввесь Ізраїль перед Газаїлом, сирійським царем.

15 a nd king Joram turneth back to be healed in Jezreel, of the wounds with which the Aramaeans smite him, in his fighting with Hazael king of Aram) -- and Jehu saith, `If it is your mind, let not an escaped one go out from the city, to go to declare in Jezreel.'

І вернувся цар Єгорам лікуватися в Їзреелі від ран, що вчинили йому сиріяни, як він воював з Газаїлом, сирійським царем. І сказав Єгу: Якщо згода ваша на те, нехай не вийде жоден утікач із міста, щоб піти донести в Їзреелі.

16 A nd Jehu rideth, and goeth to Jezreel, for Joram is lying there, and Ahaziah king of Judah hath gone down to see Joram.

І сів верхи Єгу, і поїхав до Їзреелу, бо Йорам лежав там. А Ахазія, цар Юдин, зійшов побачити Йорама.

17 A nd the watchman is standing on the tower in Jezreel, and seeth the company of Jehu in his coming, and saith, `A company I see;' and Joram saith, `Take a rider and send to meet them, and let him say, Is there peace?'

А на башті в Їзреелі стояв вартовий. І побачив він натовп Єгуїв, як він ішов, і сказав: Я бачу натовп! А Єгорам відказав: Візьми верхівця, і пошли назустріч їм, і нехай він скаже: Чи все гаразд?

18 a nd the rider on the horse goeth to meet him, and saith, `Thus said the king, Is there peace?' and Jehu saith, `What -- to thee and to peace? turn round behind me.' And the watchman declareth, saying, `The messenger came unto them, and he hath not returned.'

І відправився верхівець назустріч йому, і сказав: Так сказав цар: Чи все гаразд? А Єгу відказав: Що тобі до того? Повертай за мною! І доніс вартовий, говорячи: Прийшов той посол аж до них, та не вернувся.

19 A nd he sendeth a second rider on a horse, and he cometh in unto them, and saith, `Thus said the king, Is there peace?' and Jehu saith, `What -- to thee and to peace? turn round behind me.'

І послав він другого верхівця, і він прийшов до них та й сказав: Так сказав цар: Чи все гаразд? А Єгу відказав: Що тобі до гаразду? Повертай за мною!

20 A nd the watchman declareth, saying, `He came unto them, and he hath not returned, and the driving like the driving of Jehu son of Nimshi, for with madness he driveth.'

І доніс вартовий, говорячи: Прийшов він аж до них, та не вернувся. А кінна їзда, як їзда Єгу, Німшієвого сина, бо їде несамовито.

21 A nd Jehoram saith, `Harness;' and his chariot is harnessed, and Jehoram king of Israel goeth out, and Ahaziah king of Judah, each in his chariot, and they go out to meet Jehu, and find him in the portion of Naboth the Jezreelite.

І сказав Єгорам: Запрягай! І запріг його колесницю. І відправився Єгорам, Ізраїлів цар, та Ахазія, Юдин цар, кожен своєю колесницею, щоб зустріти Єгу, і спіткали його в ділянці їзреелянина Навота.

22 A nd it cometh to pass, at Jehoram's seeing Jehu, that he saith, `Is there peace, Jehu?' and he saith, `What the peace, while the whoredoms of Jezebel thy mother, and her witchcrafts, are many?'

І сталося, як Єгорам побачив Єгу, то сказав: Чи все гаразд, Єгу? А той відказав: Який гаразд при перелюбі твоєї матері Єзавелі та її багатьох чарів?

23 A nd Jehoram turneth his hands, and fleeth, and saith unto Ahaziah, `Deceit, O Ahaziah!'

І обернув Єгорам руки свої та й утік. І сказав він Ахазії: Зрада, Ахазіє!

24 A nd Jehu hath filled his hand with a bow, and smiteth Jehoram between his arms, and the arrow goeth out from his heart, and he boweth down in his chariot.

А Єгу взяв лука в руку свою, і вдарив Єгорама між його раменами, і пробила стріла його серце, і він похилився на колесниці своїй...

25 A nd saith unto Bidkar his captain, `Lift up, cast him into the portion of the field of Naboth the Jezreelite -- for, remember, I and thou were riding together after Ahab his father, and Jehovah lifted upon him this burden:

І сказав Єгу до Бідкара, вельможі свого: Візьми, кинь його на ділянці поля їзреелянина Навота. Бо пам'ятай, я й ти їхали вдвох за Ахавом, батьком його, а Господь прорік на нього оце пророцтво:

26 H ave I not the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons seen yesternight -- the affirmation of Jehovah -- yea, I have recompensed to thee in this portion -- the affirmation of Jehovah; -- and now, lift up, cast him into the portion, according to the word of Jehovah.'

Поправді кажу, що бачив Я вчора кров Навота та кров синів його, говорить Господь, і відплачу тобі на цій же ділянці, говорить Господь. А тепер кинь його на цій ділянці за словом Господнім.

27 A nd Ahaziah king of Judah hath seen, and fleeth the way of the garden-house, and Jehu pursueth after him, and saith, `Smite him -- also him -- in the chariot,' in the going up to Gur, that Ibleam, and he fleeth to Megiddo, and dieth there,

А Ахазія, Юдин цар, побачив це, і втікав дорогою на Бет-Гаґґан, а Єгу погнався за ним і сказав: Убийте й його на колесниці! І поранили його в Маале-Ґурі, що при Ївлеамі, а він утік до Меґіддо та й помер там.

28 a nd his servants carry him in a chariot to Jerusalem, and bury him in his burying-place, with his fathers, in the city of David.

А раби його відвезли його верхи до Єрусалиму, та й поховали його в його гробі з батьками його в Давидовому Місті.

29 A nd in the eleventh year of Joram son of Ahab reign did Ahaziah over Judah.

А в одинадцятому році Йорама, Ахавового сина, над Юдою зацарював Ахазія.

30 A nd Jehu cometh in to Jezreel, and Jezebel hath heard, and putteth her eyes in paint and maketh right her head, and looketh out through the window.

І прийшов Єгу до Їзрееля, а Єзавель почула про це, і нафарбувала очі свої, і прикрасила голову свою, та й виглянула через вікно.

31 A nd Jehu hath come into the gate, and she saith, `Was there peace Zimri -- slayer of his lord?'

А Єгу входить до брами. І сказала вона: Чи все гаразд, Зімрі, убивце пана свого?

32 A nd he lifteth up his face unto the window, and saith, `Who with me? -- who?' and look out unto him do two three eunuchs;

І підняв він обличчя своє до вікна та й сказав: Хто зо мною, хто? І виглянули до нього два-три євнухи.

33 A nd he saith, `Let her go;' and they let her go, and of her blood is sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses, and he treadeth her down.

А він сказав: Скиньте її! І викинули її, і бризнула кров її на стіну та на коні. І він топтав її...

34 A nd he cometh in, and eateth, and drinketh, and saith, `Look after, I pray you, this cursed one, and bury her, for she a king's daughter.'

І він увійшов, і їв та пив, та й сказав: Підіть до тієї проклятої, і поховайте її, бо все ж таки вона царева дочка!

35 A nd they go to bury her, and have not found of her except the skull, and the feet, and the palms of the hands.

І пішли поховати її, та не знайшли з неї нічого, а тільки черепа, та ноги, та долоні рук...

36 A nd they turn back, and declare to him, and he saith, `The word of Jehovah it, that He spake by the hand of this servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel do the dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel,

І вони вернулися, і донесли йому про це. А він відказав: Це слово Господа, що казав був через раба Свого тішб'янина Іллю, говорячи: В Їзреелевій ділянці пси з'їдять Єзавелине тіло!

37 a nd the carcase of Jezebel hath been as dung on the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel, that they say not, This Jezebel.'

І буде Єзавелин труп, як погній на поверхні поля в Їзреелевій ділянці, так що не скажуть: Це Єзавель...
