1 A nd Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

І промовляв Господь до Мойсея, говорячи:

2 ` Send for thee men, and they spy the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the sons of Israel; one man, one man for the tribe of his fathers ye do send, every one a prince among them.'

Пошли людей, і вони розвідають ханаанський Край, що Я даю Ізраїлевим синам; пошлете по одному чоловікові від племени своїх батьків, кожного начальника в них.

3 A nd Moses sendeth them from the wilderness of Paran by the command of Jehovah; all of them men, heads of the sons of Israel they are,

І послав їх Мойсей з пустині Паран за Господнім наказом. Усі вони мужі достойні, вони голови Ізраїлевих синів.

4 a nd these their names: For the tribe of Reuben, Shammua son of Zaccur.

А оце ймення їх: для Рувимового племени Шаммуа, син Заккурів;

5 F or the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat son of Hori.

для Симеонового племени Шафат, син Хоріїв;

6 F or the tribe of Judah, Caleb son of Jephunneh.

для Юдиного племени Калев, син Єфуннеїв;

7 F or the tribe of Issachar, Igal son of Joseph.

для Іссахарового племени Їґ'ал, син Йосипів;

8 F or the tribe of Ephraim, Oshea, son of Nun.

для Єфремового племени Осія, син Навинів;

9 F or the tribe of Benjamin, Palti son of Raphu.

для Веніяминового племени Палті, син Рафуїв;

10 F or the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel son of Sodi.

для Завулонового племени Ґаддіїл, син Содіїв;

11 F or the tribe of Joseph, (for the tribe of Manasseh,) Gaddi son of Susi.

для Йосипового племени, для племени Манасіїного Ґадді, син Сусіїв;

12 F or the tribe of Dan, Ammiel son of Gemalli.

для Данового племени Амміїл, син Ґемалліїв;

13 F or the tribe of Asher, Sethur son of Michael.

для Асирового племени Сетур, син Михаїлів;

14 F or the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi son of Vopshi.

для Нефталимового племени Нахбі, син Вофсіїв;

15 F or the tribe of Gad, Geuel son of Machi.

для Ґадового племени Ґеуїл, син Махіїв.

16 T hese the names of the men whom Moses hath sent to spy the land; and Moses calleth Hoshea son of Nun, Jehoshua.

Оце ймення тих людей, що Мойсей послав був розвідати той Край. І назвав Мойсей Осію, Навинового сина: Ісус.

17 A nd Moses sendeth them to spy the land of Canaan, and saith unto them, `Go ye up this into the south, and ye have gone up the mountain,

І послав їх Мойсей розвідати Край ханаанський, та й промовив до них: Підіть тут на південь, і ввійдете на гору,

18 a nd have seen the land what it, and the people which is dwelling on it, whether it strong or feeble; whether it few or many;

та й побачите той Край який він, і народ, що сидить у ньому, чи сильний він, чи слабий, чи малий він, чи численний?

19 a nd what the land in which it is dwelling, whether it good or bad; and what the cities in which it is dwelling, whether in camps or in fortresses;

І який той Край, що він сидить у ньому, чи він добрий чи злий? І які ті міста, що він сидить у них, чи в таборах, чи в твердинях?

20 A nd what the land, whether it fat or lean; whether there is wood in it or not; and ye have strengthened yourselves, and have taken of the fruit of the land;' and the days days of the first-fruits of grapes.

І яка та земля, чи масна вона, чи пісна? Чи є на ній дерево, чи ні? І будьте відважні, і візьміть з плоду землі; а дні ці дні виноградного первоплоду.

21 A nd they go up and spy the land, from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob at the going in to Hamath;

І знялися вони, і розвідали той Край від пустині Цін аж до Рехова, у напрямі до Хамоту.

22 a nd they go up by the south, and come in unto Hebron, and there Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, children of Anak (and Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt),

І пішли вони на південь, і прибули аж до Хеврону, а там були Ахіман, Шешай та Талмай, нащадки велетня. А Хеврон був збудований за сім літ перед Цоаном єгипетським.

23 a nd they come in unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down thence a branch and one cluster of grapes, and they bear it on a staff by two, also of the pomegranates, and of the figs.

І прибули вони аж до долини Ешколу, і витяли там галузку з одним гроном винограду, і вдвох понесли його на жердині; також узяли із гранатів та з фіґ.

24 T hat place hath called Brook of Eshcol, because of the cluster which the sons of Israel cut from thence.

Те місце назвали: Нахал-Ешкол, через те гроно, що Ізраїлеві сини витяли були там.

25 A nd they turn back from spying the land at the end of forty days.

І вернулися вони з розвідки того Краю по сорока днях.

26 A nd they go and come in unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto all the company of the sons of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and they bring them and all the company back word, and shew them the fruit of the land.

І пішли, і прийшли вони до Мойсея й до Аарона та до всієї громади Ізраїлевих синів, до пустині Паран, до Кадешу, і здали справу їм та всій тій громаді, і показали плід того Краю.

27 A nd they recount to him, and say, `We came in unto the land whither thou hast sent us, and also it flowing with milk and honey -- and this its fruit;

І вони розповіли йому та й сказали: Прибули ми до Краю, куди ти послав був нас, а він тече молоком та медом, а оце плід його!

28 o nly, surely the people which is dwelling in the land strong; and the cities are fenced, very great; and also children of Anak we have seen there.

Та народ той, що сидить у тім Краї, міцний, а міста укріплені, дуже великі. А також бачили ми там нащадків велетня...

29 A malek is dwelling in the land of the south, and the Hittite, and the Jebusite, and the Amorite is dwelling in the hill country, and the Canaanite is dwelling by the sea, and by the side of the Jordan.'

Амалик сидить у краї південнім, а хіттеянин, і євусеянин, і амореянин сидять на горі, а ханаанеянин сидить над морем та при Йордані.

30 A nd Caleb stilleth the people concerning Moses, and saith, `Let us certainly go up -- and we have possessed it; for we are thoroughly able for it.'

А Калев утихомирював народ перед Мойсеєм та й сказав: Конче ввійдемо ми й заволодіємо ним, бо ми справді переможем його!

31 A nd the men who have gone up with him said, `We are not able to go up against the people, for it stronger than we;'

Та люди, що ходили з ним, сказали: Ми не зможемо ввійти до того народу, бо він сильніший за нас...

32 a nd they bring out an evil account of the land which they have spied unto the sons of Israel, saying, `The land into which we passed over to spy it, is a land eating up its inhabitants; and all the people whom we saw in its midst men of stature;

І пустили вони між Ізраїлевими синами злу вістку про той Край, що розвідали його, говорячи: Той Край, що ми перейшли по ньому, щоб розвідати його, це край, який поїдає своїх мешканців. А ввесь той народ, що ми бачили в ньому, люди високі на зріст.

33 a nd there we saw the Nephilim, sons of Anak, of the Nephilim; and we are in our own eyes as grasshoppers; and so we were in their eyes.'

І там ми бачили велетнів, синів Енака, з роду велетнів, і були ми в своїх очах немов та сарана, і такими були ми і в їхніх очах.
