1 A nd in the day of the Pentecost being fulfilled, they were all with one accord at the same place,

Коли ж почався день П'ятдесятниці, всі вони однодушно знаходилися вкупі.

2 a nd there came suddenly out of the heaven a sound as of a bearing violent breath, and it filled all the house where they were sitting,

І нагло зчинився шум із неба, ніби буря раптова зірвалася, і переповнила ввесь той дім, де сиділи вони.

3 a nd there appeared to them divided tongues, as it were of fire; it sat also upon each one of them,

І з'явилися їм язики поділені, немов би огненні, та й на кожному з них по одному осів.

4 a nd they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, according as the Spirit was giving them to declare.

Усі ж вони сповнились Духом Святим, і почали говорити іншими мовами, як їм Дух промовляти давав.

5 A nd there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation of those under the heaven,

Перебували ж в Єрусалимі юдеї, люди побожні, від усякого народу під небом.

6 a nd the rumour of this having come, the multitude came together, and was confounded, because they were each one hearing them speaking in his proper dialect,

А коли оцей гомін зчинився, зібралася безліч народу, та й диву далися, бо кожен із них тут почув, що вони розмовляли їхньою власною мовою!...

7 a nd they were all amazed, and did wonder, saying one unto another, `Lo, are not all these who are speaking Galileans?

Усі ж побентежилися та дивувалися, та й казали один до одного: Хіба ж не галілеяни всі ці, що говорять?

8 a nd how do we hear, each in our proper dialect, in which we were born?

Як же кожен із нас чує свою власну мову, що ми в ній народились?

9 P arthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and those dwelling in Mesopotamia, in Judea also, and Cappadocia, Pontus, and Asia,

Парфяни та мідяни та еламіти, також мешканці Месопотамії, Юдеї та Каппадокії, Понту та Азії,

10 P hrygia also, and Pamphylia, Egypt, and the parts of Libya, that along Cyrene, and the strangers of Rome, both Jews and proselytes,

і Фріґії та Памфілії, Єгипту й лівійських земель край Кірени, і захожі римляни,

11 C retes and Arabians, we did hear them speaking in our tongues the great things of God.'

юдеї й нововірці, крітяни й араби, усі чуємо ми, що говорять вони про великі діла Божі мовами нашими!

12 A nd they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one unto another, `What would this wish to be?'

І всі не виходили з дива, і безрадні були, і говорили один до одного: Що ж то статися має?

13 a nd others mocking said, -- `They are full of sweet wine;'

А інші казали глузуючи: Вони повпивались вином молодим!

14 a nd Peter having stood up with the eleven, lifted up his voice and declared to them, `Men, Jews! and all those dwelling in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and harken to my sayings,

Ставши ж Петро із Одинадцятьма, свій голос підніс та й промовив до них: Мужі юдейські та мешканці Єрусалиму! Нехай вам оце стане відоме, і послухайте слів моїх!

15 f or these are not drunken, as ye take it up, for it is the third hour of the day.

Бо не п'яні вони, як ви думаєте, бо третя година дня,

16 ` But this is that which hath been spoken through the prophet Joel:

а це те, що пророк Йоіл передрік:

17 A nd it shall be in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams;

І буде останніми днями, говорить Господь: Я виллю від Духа Свого на всяке тіло, і будуть пророкувати сини ваші та ваші доньки, юнаки ж ваші бачити будуть видіння, а старим вашим сни будуть снитися.

18 a nd also upon My men-servants, and upon My maid-servants, in those days, I will pour out of My Spirit, and they shall prophesy;

І на рабів Моїх і на рабинь Моїх за тих днів Я також виллю від Духа Свого, і пророкувати вони будуть!

19 a nd I will give wonders in the heaven above, and signs upon the earth beneath -- blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke,

І дам чуда на небі вгорі, а внизу на землі ці знамена: кров, і огонь, і куряву диму.

20 t he sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the coming of the day of the Lord -- the great and illustrious;

Переміниться сонце на темряву, а місяць на кров, перше ніж день Господній настане, великий та славний!

21 a nd it shall be, every one -- whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, he shall be saved.

І станеться, що кожен, хто покличе Господнє Ім'я, той спасеться.

22 ` Men, Israelites! hear these words, Jesus the Nazarene, a man approved of God among you by mighty works, and wonders, and signs, that God did through him in the midst of you, according as also ye yourselves have known;

Мужі ізраїльські, послухайте ви оцих слів: Ісуса Назарянина, Мужа, що Його Бог прославив вам силою, і чудами, і тими знаменами, що Бог через Нього вчинив серед вас, як самі ви те знаєте,

23 t his one, by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, being given out, having taken by lawless hands, having crucified -- ye did slay;

Того, що був виданий певною волею та передбаченням Божим, ви руками беззаконників розп'яли та забили.

24 w hom God did raise up, having loosed the pains of the death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it,

Та Бог воскресив Його, пута смерти усунувши, вона бо тримати Його не могла.

25 f or David saith in regard to him: I foresaw the Lord always before me -- because He is on my right hand -- that I may not be moved;

Бо каже про Нього Давид: Мав я Господа завсіди перед очима своїми, бо Він по правиці моїй, щоб я не захитався.

26 b ecause of this was my heart cheered, and my tongue was glad, and yet -- my flesh also shall rest on hope,

Тому серце моє звеселилось, і зрадів мій язик, і тіло моє відпочине в надії.

27 b ecause Thou wilt not leave my soul to hades, nor wilt Thou give Thy Kind One to see corruption;

Бо не позоставиш Ти в аду моєї душі, і не даси Ти Своєму Святому побачити тління!

28 T hou didst make known to me ways of life, Thou shalt fill me with joy with Thy countenance.

Ти дороги життя об'явив мені, Ти мене переповниш утіхою перед обличчям Своїм!

29 ` Men, brethren! it is permitted to speak with freedom unto you concerning the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is among us unto this day;

Мужі-браття! Нехай буде вільно мені сміло сказати вам про патріярха Давида, що помер і похований, і знаходиться гріб його в нас аж до цього дня.

30 a prophet, therefore, being, and knowing that with an oath God did swear to him, out of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, to raise up the Christ, to sit upon his throne,

А бувши ж пророком, та відаючи, що Бог клятвою клявся йому посадити на престолі його від плоду його стегон,

31 h aving foreseen, he did speak concerning the rising again of the Christ, that his soul was not left to hades, nor did his flesh see corruption.

у передбаченні він говорив про Христове воскресення, що не буде зоставлений в аду, ані тіло Його не зазнає зотління.

32 ` This Jesus did God raise up, of which we are all witnesses;

Бог Ісуса Цього воскресив, чого свідки всі ми!

33 a t the right hand then of God having been exalted -- also the promise of the Holy Spirit having received from the Father -- he was shedding forth this, which now ye see and hear;

А отож, як правицею Божою був Він вознесений, і обітницю Духа Святого прийняв від Отця, то й злив Він оте, що ви бачите й чуєте.

34 f or David did not go up to the heavens, and he saith himself: The Lord saith to my lord, Sit thou at my right hand,

Не зійшов бо на небо Давид, але сам він говорить: Промовив Господь Господеві моєму: Сядь праворуч Мене,

35 t ill I make thy foes thy footstool;

доки не покладу Я Твоїх ворогів підніжком ногам Твоїм!

36 a ssuredly, therefore, let all the house of Israel know, that both Lord and Christ did God make him -- this Jesus whom ye did crucify.'

Ото ж, нехай ввесь Ізраїлів дім твердо знає, що і Господом, і Христом учинив Бог Його, Того Ісуса, що Його розп'яли ви!

37 A nd having heard, they were pricked to the heart; they say also to Peter, and to the rest of the apostles, `What shall we do, men, brethren?'

Як почули ж оце, вони серцем розжалобились, та й сказали Петрові та іншим апостолам: Що ж ми маємо робити, мужі-браття?

38 a nd Peter said unto them, `Reform, and be baptized each of you on the name of Jesus Christ, to remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit,

А Петро до них каже: Покайтеся, і нехай же охриститься кожен із вас у Ім'я Ісуса Христа на відпущення ваших гріхів, і дара Духа Святого ви приймете!

39 f or to you is the promise, and to your children, and to all those afar off, as many as the Lord our God shall call.'

Бо для вас ця обітниця, і для ваших дітей, і для всіх, що далеко знаходяться, кого б тільки покликав Господь, Бог наш.

40 A lso with many more other words he was testifying and exhorting, saying, `Be saved from this perverse generation;'

І іншими багатьома словами він засвідчував та вмовляв їх, говорячи: Рятуйтесь від цього лукавого роду!

41 t hen those, indeed, who did gladly receive his word were baptized, and there were added on that day, as it were, three thousand souls,

Отож ті, хто прийняв його слово, охристилися. І пристало до них того дня душ тисяч зо три!

42 a nd they were continuing stedfastly in the teaching of the apostles, and the fellowship, and the breaking of the bread, and the prayers.

І вони перебували в науці апостольській, та в спільноті братерській, і в ламанні хліба, та в молитвах.

43 A nd fear came on every soul, many wonders also and signs were being done through the apostles,

І був острах у кожній душі, бо багато чинили апостоли чуд та знамен.

44 a nd all those believing were at the same place, and had all things common,

А всі віруючі були вкупі, і мали все спільним.

45 a nd the possessions and the goods they were selling, and were parting them to all, according as any one had need.

І вони продавали маєтки та добра, і всім їх ділили, як кому чого треба було.

46 D aily also continuing with one accord in the temple, breaking also at every house bread, they were partaking of food in gladness and simplicity of heart,

І кожного дня перебували вони однодушно у храмі, і, ломлячи хліб по домах, поживу приймали із радістю та в сердечній простоті,

47 p raising God, and having favour with all the people, and the Lord was adding those being saved every day to the assembly.

вихваляючи Бога та маючи ласку в усього народу. І щоденно до Церкви Господь додавав тих, що спасалися.
