1 A nd it cometh to pass after these things that God hath tried Abraham, and saith unto him, `Abraham;' and he saith, `Here I.'

Khi mọi việc kia đã xong, thì Đức Chúa Trời thử Áp-ra-ham; Ngài phán rằng: Hỡi Áp-ra-ham! Người thưa rằng: Có tôi đây.

2 A nd He saith, `Take, I pray thee, thy son, thine only one, whom thou hast loved, even Isaac, and go for thyself unto the land of Moriah, and cause him to ascend there for a burnt-offering on one of the mountains of which I speak unto thee.'

Đức Chúa Trời phán rằng: Hãy bắt đứa con một ngươi yêu dấu, là Y-sác, và đi đến xứ Mô-ri -a, nơi đó dâng đứa con làm của lễ thiêu ở trên một hòn núi kia mà ta sẽ chỉ cho.

3 A nd Abraham riseth early in the morning, and saddleth his ass, and taketh two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and he cleaveth the wood of the burnt-offering, and riseth and goeth unto the place of which God hath spoken to him.

Áp-ra-ham dậy sớm, thắng lừa, đem hai đầy tớ và con mình, là Y-sác, cùng đi; người cũng chặt củi để dùng về của lễ thiêu, rồi đi đến nơi mà Đức Chúa Trời đã truyền dạy.

4 O n the third day -- Abraham lifteth up his eyes, and seeth the place from afar;

Qua đến ngày thứ ba, Áp-ra-ham nhướng mắt lên thấy nơi đó ở lối đằng xa,

5 a nd Abraham saith unto his young men, `Remain by yourselves here with the ass, and I and the youth go yonder and worship, and turn back unto you.'

thì nói cùng hai kẻ đầy tớ rằng: Hãy ở lại đây với con lừa; ta cùng đứa trẻ sẽ đi đến chốn kia đặng thờ phượng, rồi sẽ trở lại với hai ngươi.

6 A nd Abraham taketh the wood of the burnt-offering, and placeth on Isaac his son, and he taketh in his hand the fire, and the knife; and they go on both of them together.

Áp-ra-ham lấy củi về của lễ thiêu, chất trên Y-sác, con mình; rồi người cầm lửa và dao trong tay, và cả hai cha con đồng đi.

7 A nd Isaac speaketh unto Abraham his father, and saith, `My father,' and he saith, `Here I, my son.' And he saith, `Lo, the fire and the wood, and where the lamb for a burnt-offering?'

Y-sác bèn nói cùng Áp-ra-ham, cha mình rằng: Hỡi Cha! Người đáp: Con ơi! cha đây. Y-sác nói: Củi đây, lửa đây, nhưng chiên con đâu có đặng làm của lễ thiêu?

8 a nd Abraham saith, `God doth provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt-offering, my son;' and they go on both of them together.

Áp-ra-ham rằng: Con ơi! chính Đức Chúa Trời sẽ sắm sẵn lấy chiên con đặng dùng làm của lễ thiêu; rồi cả hai cha con cứ đồng đi.

9 A nd they come in unto the place of which God hath spoken to him, and there Abraham buildeth the altar, and arrangeth the wood, and bindeth Isaac his son, and placeth him upon the altar above the wood;

Họ đến chốn Đức Chúa Trời đã phán dạy; tại đó, Áp-ra-ham lập bàn thờ, chất củi lên, trói Y-sác con mình lại, để lên đống củi trên bàn thờ.

10 a nd Abraham putteth forth his hand, and taketh the knife -- to slaughter his son.

Áp-ra-ham bèn giơ tay ra cầm lấy dao đặng giết con mình.

11 A nd the messenger of Jehovah calleth unto him from the heavens, and saith, `Abraham, Abraham;' and he saith, `Here I;'

Thiên sứ của Đức Giê-hô-va từ trên trời kêu xuống mà rằng: Hỡi Áp-ra-ham, Áp-ra-ham! Người thưa rằng: Có tôi đây.

12 a nd He saith, `Put not forth thine hand unto the youth, nor do anything to him, for now I have known that thou art fearing God, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only one, from Me.'

Thiên sứ phán rằng: Đừng tra tay vào mình con trẻ và chớ làm chi hại đến nó; vì bây giờ ta biết rằng ngươi thật kính sợ Đức Chúa Trời, bởi cớ không tiếc với ta con ngươi, tức con một ngươi.

13 A nd Abraham lifteth up his eyes, and looketh, and lo, a ram behind, seized in a thicket by its horns; and Abraham goeth, and taketh the ram, and causeth it to ascend for a burnt-offering instead of his son;

Áp-ra-ham nhướng mắt lên, xem thấy sau lưng một con chiên đực, sừng mắc trong bụi cây, bèn bắt con chiên đực đó dâng làm của lễ thiêu thay cho con mình.

14 a nd Abraham calleth the name of that place `Jehovah-Jireh,' because it is said this day in the mount, `Jehovah doth provide.'

Áp-ra-ham gọi chỗ đó là Giê-hô-va Di-rê. Bởi cớ ấy, ngày nay có tục ngữ rằng: Trên núi của Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ có sắm sẵn.

15 A nd the messenger of Jehovah calleth unto Abraham a second time from the heavens,

Thiên sứ của Đức Giê-hô-va từ trên trời kêu Áp-ra-ham lần thứ nhì mà rằng:

16 a nd saith, `By Myself I have sworn -- the affirmation of Jehovah -- that because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only one --

Đức Giê-hô-va phán rằng: Vì ngươi đã làm điều đó, không tiếc con ngươi, tức con một ngươi, thì ta lấy chánh mình ta mà thề rằng:

17 t hat blessing I bless thee, and multiplying I multiply thy seed as stars of the heavens, and as sand which on the sea-shore; and thy seed doth possess the gate of his enemies;

sẽ ban phước cho ngươi, thêm dòng dõi ngươi nhiều như sao trên trời, đông như cát bờ biển, và dòng dõi đó sẽ chiếm được cửa thành quân nghịch.

18 a nd blessed themselves in thy seed have all nations of the earth, because that thou hast hearkened to My voice.'

Bởi vì ngươi đã vâng theo lời dặn ta, nên các dân thế gian đều sẽ nhờ dòng dõi ngươi mà được phước.

19 A nd Abraham turneth back unto his young men, and they rise and go together unto Beer-Sheba; and Abraham dwelleth in Beer-Sheba.

Đoạn Áp-ra-ham trở về nơi hai người đầy tớ; họ đứng dậy, đồng nhau đi về Bê-e-Sê-ba. Áp-ra-ham cứ ở tại Bê-e-Sê-ba.

20 A nd it cometh to pass after these things that it is declared to Abraham, saying, `Lo, Milcah hath borne, even she, sons to Nahor thy brother:

Sau các việc đó, người ta thuật lại với Áp-ra-ham tin nầy rằng: Nầy, nàng Minh-ca cũng sanh con cho em ngươi, là Na-cô.

21 H uz his first-born, and Buz his brother; and Kemuel father of Aram,

Con trưởng nam là Út-xơ, em trai là Bu-xơ, Kê-mu-ên, cha của A-ram;

22 a nd Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel;

Kê-sết, Ha-xô, Phin-đát, Díp-láp và Bê-tu-ên;

23 a nd Bethuel hath begotten Rebekah;' these eight hath Milcah borne to Nahor, Abraham's brother;

Bê-tu-ên là người sanh Rê-be-ca. Minh-ca sanh tám người con trai đó cho Na-cô, em của Áp-ra-ham.

24 a nd his concubine, whose name Reumah, she also hath borne Tebah, and Gaham, and Tahash, and Maachah.

Còn người vợ nhỏ, tên là Rê -u-ma, cũng sanh con, là Tê-la, Ga-ham, Ta-hách và Ma -a-ca.
