1 A nd it cometh to pass after these things that God hath tried Abraham, and saith unto him, `Abraham;' and he saith, `Here I.'

Aconteció después de estas cosas, que Dios probó a Abraham. Le dijo: —Abraham. Éste respondió: —Aquí estoy.

2 A nd He saith, `Take, I pray thee, thy son, thine only one, whom thou hast loved, even Isaac, and go for thyself unto the land of Moriah, and cause him to ascend there for a burnt-offering on one of the mountains of which I speak unto thee.'

Y Dios le dijo: —Toma ahora a tu hijo, tu único, Isaac, a quien amas, vete a tierra de Moriah y ofrécelo allí en holocausto sobre uno de los montes que yo te diré.

3 A nd Abraham riseth early in the morning, and saddleth his ass, and taketh two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and he cleaveth the wood of the burnt-offering, and riseth and goeth unto the place of which God hath spoken to him.

Abraham se levantó muy de mañana, ensilló su asno, tomó consigo a dos de sus siervos y a Isaac, su hijo. Después cortó leña para el holocausto, se levantó y fue al lugar que Dios le había dicho.

4 O n the third day -- Abraham lifteth up his eyes, and seeth the place from afar;

Al tercer día alzó Abraham sus ojos y vio de lejos el lugar.

5 a nd Abraham saith unto his young men, `Remain by yourselves here with the ass, and I and the youth go yonder and worship, and turn back unto you.'

Entonces dijo Abraham a sus siervos: —Esperad aquí con el asno. Yo y el muchacho iremos hasta allá, adoraremos y volveremos a vosotros.

6 A nd Abraham taketh the wood of the burnt-offering, and placeth on Isaac his son, and he taketh in his hand the fire, and the knife; and they go on both of them together.

Tomó Abraham la leña del holocausto y la puso sobre Isaac, su hijo; luego tomó en su mano el fuego y el cuchillo y se fueron los dos juntos.

7 A nd Isaac speaketh unto Abraham his father, and saith, `My father,' and he saith, `Here I, my son.' And he saith, `Lo, the fire and the wood, and where the lamb for a burnt-offering?'

Después dijo Isaac a Abraham, su padre: —Padre mío. Él respondió: —Aquí estoy, hijo mío. Isaac le dijo: —Tenemos el fuego y la leña, pero ¿dónde está el cordero para el holocausto?

8 a nd Abraham saith, `God doth provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt-offering, my son;' and they go on both of them together.

Abraham respondió: —Dios proveerá el cordero para el holocausto, hijo mío. E iban juntos.

9 A nd they come in unto the place of which God hath spoken to him, and there Abraham buildeth the altar, and arrangeth the wood, and bindeth Isaac his son, and placeth him upon the altar above the wood;

Cuando llegaron al lugar que Dios le había dicho, edificó allí Abraham un altar, compuso la leña, ató a Isaac, su hijo, y lo puso en el altar sobre la leña.

10 a nd Abraham putteth forth his hand, and taketh the knife -- to slaughter his son.

Extendió luego Abraham su mano y tomó el cuchillo para degollar a su hijo.

11 A nd the messenger of Jehovah calleth unto him from the heavens, and saith, `Abraham, Abraham;' and he saith, `Here I;'

Entonces el ángel de Jehová lo llamó desde el cielo: —¡Abraham, Abraham! Él respondió: —Aquí estoy.

12 a nd He saith, `Put not forth thine hand unto the youth, nor do anything to him, for now I have known that thou art fearing God, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only one, from Me.'

El ángel le dijo: —No extiendas tu mano sobre el muchacho ni le hagas nada, pues ya sé que temes a Dios, por cuanto no me rehusaste a tu hijo, tu único hijo.

13 A nd Abraham lifteth up his eyes, and looketh, and lo, a ram behind, seized in a thicket by its horns; and Abraham goeth, and taketh the ram, and causeth it to ascend for a burnt-offering instead of his son;

Entonces alzó Abraham sus ojos y vio a sus espaldas un carnero trabado por los cuernos en un zarzal; fue Abraham, tomó el carnero y lo ofreció en holocausto en lugar de su hijo.

14 a nd Abraham calleth the name of that place `Jehovah-Jireh,' because it is said this day in the mount, `Jehovah doth provide.'

Y llamó Abraham a aquel lugar «Jehová proveerá.» Por tanto se dice hoy: «En el monte de Jehová será provisto.»

15 A nd the messenger of Jehovah calleth unto Abraham a second time from the heavens,

Llamó el ángel de Jehová a Abraham por segunda vez desde el cielo,

16 a nd saith, `By Myself I have sworn -- the affirmation of Jehovah -- that because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only one --

y le dijo: —Por mí mismo he jurado, dice Jehová, que por cuanto has hecho esto y no me has rehusado a tu hijo, tu único hijo,

17 t hat blessing I bless thee, and multiplying I multiply thy seed as stars of the heavens, and as sand which on the sea-shore; and thy seed doth possess the gate of his enemies;

de cierto te bendeciré y multiplicaré tu descendencia como las estrellas del cielo y como la arena que está a la orilla del mar; tu descendencia se adueñará de las puertas de sus enemigos.

18 a nd blessed themselves in thy seed have all nations of the earth, because that thou hast hearkened to My voice.'

En tu simiente serán benditas todas las naciones de la tierra, por cuanto obedeciste a mi voz.

19 A nd Abraham turneth back unto his young men, and they rise and go together unto Beer-Sheba; and Abraham dwelleth in Beer-Sheba.

Regresó Abraham adonde estaban sus siervos, y juntos se levantaron y se fueron a Beerseba. Y habitó Abraham en Beerseba.

20 A nd it cometh to pass after these things that it is declared to Abraham, saying, `Lo, Milcah hath borne, even she, sons to Nahor thy brother:

Después de estas cosas se anunció a Abraham: «Milca ha dado a luz hijos a tu hermano Nacor:

21 H uz his first-born, and Buz his brother; and Kemuel father of Aram,

Uz, el primogénito; Buz, su hermano; Kemuel, padre de Aram;

22 a nd Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel;

Quesed, Hazo, Pildas, Jidlaf y Betuel.»

23 a nd Bethuel hath begotten Rebekah;' these eight hath Milcah borne to Nahor, Abraham's brother;

Betuel fue el padre de Rebeca. Éstos son los ocho hijos que Milca dio a luz de Nacor, hermano de Abraham.

24 a nd his concubine, whose name Reumah, she also hath borne Tebah, and Gaham, and Tahash, and Maachah.

Y su concubina, que se llamaba Reúma, dio a luz también a Teba, a Gaham, a Tahas y a Maaca.
