1 A nd the sons of Israel add to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and Jehovah giveth them into the hand of the Philistines forty years.

Los hijos de Israel volvieron a hacer lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, y Jehová los entregó en manos de los filisteos por cuarenta años.

2 A nd there is a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danite, and his name Manoah, his wife barren, and hath not borne;

En Zora, de la tribu de Dan, había un hombre que se llamaba Manoa. Su mujer nunca había tenido hijos, porque era estéril.

3 a nd a messenger of Jehovah appeareth unto the woman, and saith unto her, `Lo, I pray thee, thou barren, and hast not borne; when thou hast conceived, then thou hast borne a son.

A esta mujer se le apareció el ángel de Jehová y le dijo: «Tú eres estéril y nunca has tenido hijos, pero concebirás y darás a luz un hijo.

4 A nd, now, take heed, I pray thee, and do not drink wine, and strong drink, and do not eat any unclean thing,

Ahora, pues, no bebas vino ni sidra, ni comas cosa inmunda,

5 f or, lo, thou art conceiving and bearing a son, and a razor doth not go up on his head, for a Nazarite to God is the youth from the womb, and he doth begin to save Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.'

pues concebirás y darás a luz un hijo. No pasará navaja sobre su cabeza, porque el niño será nazareo para Dios desde su nacimiento, y comenzará a salvar a Israel de manos de los filisteos.»

6 A nd the woman cometh and speaketh to her husband, saying, `A man of God hath come unto me, and his appearance as the appearance of a messenger of God, very fearful, and I have not asked him whence he, and his name he hath not declared to me;

La mujer fue y se lo contó a su marido, diciendo: «Un varón de Dios vino a mí, cuyo aspecto era muy temible como el de un ángel de Dios. No le pregunté de dónde venía ni quién era, ni tampoco él me dijo su nombre.

7 a nd he saith to me, Lo, thou art pregnant, and bearing a son, and now do not drink wine and strong drink, and do not eat any unclean thing, for a Nazarite to God is the youth from the womb till the day of his death.'

Pero sí me dijo: “He aquí que tú concebirás y darás a luz un hijo; por tanto, desde ahora no bebas vino ni sidra, ni comas cosa inmunda, porque este niño será nazareo para Dios desde su nacimiento hasta el día de su muerte.”»

8 A nd Manoah maketh entreaty unto Jehovah, and saith, `O, my Lord, the man of God whom Thou didst send, let him come in, I pray thee, again unto us, and direct us what we do to the youth who is born.'

Entonces oró Manoa a Jehová, y dijo: «Ah, Señor mío, yo te ruego que aquel hombre de Dios que enviaste regrese ahora a nosotros y nos enseñe lo que debemos hacer con el niño que ha de nacer.»

9 A nd God hearkeneth to the voice of Manoah, and the messenger of God cometh again unto the woman, and she sitting in a field, and Manoah her husband is not with her,

Dios oyó la voz de Manoa. Hallándose la mujer en el campo, el ángel de Dios vino otra vez a ella; pero Manoa, su marido, no estaba presente.

10 a nd the woman hasteth, and runneth, and declareth to her husband, and saith unto him, `Lo, he hath appeared unto me -- the man who came on day unto me.'

La mujer corrió prontamente a avisar a su marido, diciéndole: «Mira que se me ha aparecido aquel hombre que vino a mí el otro día.»

11 A nd Manoah riseth, and goeth after his wife, and cometh unto the man, and saith to him, `Art thou the man who spake unto the woman?' and he saith, `I.'

Se levantó Manoa y fue con ella a donde estaba el hombre, y le dijo: —¿Eres tú el hombre que habló con mi mujer? Él respondió: —Yo soy.

12 A nd Manoah saith, `Now let thy words come to pass; what is the custom of the youth -- and his work?'

Entonces Manoa le preguntó: —Cuando tus palabras se cumplan, ¿cuál debe ser la manera de vivir del niño y qué debemos hacer con él?

13 A nd the messenger of Jehovah saith unto Manoah, `Of all that I said unto the woman let her take heed;

El ángel de Jehová contestó a Manoa: —La mujer se guardará de todas las cosas que yo le dije:

14 o f anything which cometh out from the wine-vine she doth not eat, and wine and strong drink she doth not drink, and any unclean thing she doth not eat; all that I have commanded her she doth observe.'

No tomará nada que proceda de la vid, no beberá vino ni sidra, ni comerá cosa inmunda. Guardará todo lo que le mandé.

15 A nd Manoah saith unto the messenger of Jehovah, `Let us detain thee, we pray thee, and prepare before thee a kid of the goats.'

Entonces Manoa dijo al ángel de Jehová: —Te ruego que nos permitas detenerte, y te prepararemos un cabrito.

16 A nd the messenger of Jehovah saith unto Manoah, `If thou detain me -- I do not eat of thy bread; and if thou prepare a burnt-offering -- to Jehovah thou dost offer it;' for Manoah hath not known that He a messenger of Jehovah.

El ángel de Jehová respondió a Manoa: —Aunque me detengas, no comeré de tu pan; pero si quieres hacer un holocausto, ofrécelo a Jehová. (Manoa no sabía aún que aquel hombre era el ángel de Jehová.)

17 A nd Manoah saith unto the messenger of Jehovah, `What thy name? when thy words come to pass, then we have honoured thee.'

Entonces preguntó Manoa al ángel de Jehová: —¿Cuál es tu nombre, para que cuando se cumpla tu palabra te honremos?

18 A nd the messenger of Jehovah saith to him, `Why this -- thou dost ask for My name? -- and it Wonderful.'

El ángel de Jehová respondió: —¿Por qué preguntas por mi nombre, que es un nombre admirable?

19 A nd Manoah taketh the kid of the goats, and the present, and offereth on the rock to Jehovah, and He is doing wonderfully, and Manoah and his wife are looking on,

Tomó, pues, Manoa un cabrito y una ofrenda, y los ofreció sobre una peña a Jehová. Entonces el ángel hizo un milagro ante los ojos de Manoa y de su mujer.

20 a nd it cometh to pass, in the going up of the flame from off the altar toward the heavens, that the messenger of Jehovah goeth up in the flame of the altar, and Manoah and his wife are looking on, and they fall on their faces to the earth,

Porque aconteció que cuando la llama subió del altar hacia el cielo, Manoa y su mujer vieron al ángel de Jehová subir en la llama del altar. Entonces se postraron en tierra.

21 a nd the messenger of Jehovah hath not added again to appear unto Manoah, and unto his wife, then hath Manoah known that He a messenger of Jehovah.

Manoa supo entonces que era el ángel de Jehová, pues no se les volvió a aparecer ni a él ni a su mujer.

22 A nd Manoah saith unto his wife, `We certainly die, for we have seen God.'

Y dijo Manoa a su mujer: —Ciertamente moriremos, porque hemos visto a Dios.

23 A nd his wife saith to him, `If Jehovah were desirous to put us to death, He had not received from our hands burnt-offering and present, nor shewed us all these things, nor as time caused us to hear like this.'

Su mujer le respondió: —Si Jehová nos quisiera matar, no aceptaría de nuestras manos el holocausto y la ofrenda, ni nos hubiera mostrado todas estas cosas, ni ahora nos habría anunciado esto.

24 A nd the woman beareth a son, and calleth his name Samson, and the youth groweth, and Jehovah doth bless him,

A su tiempo, la mujer dio a luz un hijo y le puso por nombre Sansón. El niño creció y Jehová lo bendijo.

25 a nd the Spirit of Jehovah beginneth to move him in the camp of Dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.

En los campamentos de Dan, entre Zora y Estaol, el espíritu de Jehová comenzó a manifestarse en él.
