1 A nd the son of Saul heareth that Abner dead in Hebron, and his hands are feeble, and all Israel have been troubled.

2 A nd two men, heads of troops, have been the son of Saul, the name of the one Baanah, and the name of the second Rechab, sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, of the sons of Benjamin, for also Beeroth is reckoned to Benjamin,

Con el hijo de Saúl estaban dos hombres, capitanes de bandas de salteadores; el nombre de uno era Baana, y el del otro, Recab, hijos de Rimón, el beerotita, de los hijos de Benjamín (porque Beerot era también contado con Benjamín,

3 a nd the Beerothites flee to Gittaim, and are there sojourners unto this day.

pues los beerotitas habían huido a Gitaim, y viven allí como forasteros hasta hoy).

4 A nd to Jonathan son of Saul a son -- lame; he was a son of five years at the coming in of the rumour of Saul and Jonathan, out of Jezreel, and his nurse lifteth him up, and fleeth, and it cometh to pass in her hasting to flee, that he falleth, and becometh lame, and his name Mephibosheth.

Jonatán hijo de Saúl tenía un hijo lisiado de los pies. Tenía cinco años de edad cuando llegó de Jezreel la noticia de la muerte de Saúl y de Jonatán; su nodriza lo tomó y huyó, pero mientras huía apresuradamente, se le cayó el niño y quedó cojo. Su nombre era Mefi-boset.

5 A nd the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, go, and come in at the heat of the day unto the house of Ish-Bosheth, and he is lying down -- the lying down of noon;

Los hijos de Rimón beerotita, Recab y Baana, se pusieron en camino, y a la hora de más calor, entraron en casa de Is-boset, que estaba durmiendo la siesta en su alcoba.

6 a nd thither they have come, unto the midst of the house, taking wheat, and they smite him unto the fifth, and Rechab and Baanah his brother have escaped;

La portera de la casa se había quedado dormida mientras estaba limpiando el trigo; y fue así como Recab y Baana, su hermano, se introdujeron en la casa.

7 y ea, they come in to the house, and he is lying on his bed, in the inner part of his bed-chamber, and they smite him, and put him to death, and turn aside his head, and they take his head, and go the way of the plain all the night,

Cuando entraron en la casa, Is-boset dormía sobre su lecho en la alcoba; lo hirieron y lo mataron; luego le cortaron la cabeza y tomándola caminaron toda la noche por el camino del Arabá.

8 a nd bring in the head of Ish-Bosheth unto David in Hebron, and say unto the king, `Lo, the head of Ish-Bosheth, son of Saul, thine enemy, who sought thy life; and Jehovah doth give to my lord the king vengeance this day, of Saul and of his seed.'

Llevaron la cabeza de Is-boset a David en Hebrón, y le dijeron al rey: —Aquí tienes la cabeza de Is-boset hijo de Saúl, tu enemigo, que procuraba matarte. Jehová ha vengado hoy a mi señor, el rey, de Saúl y de su linaje.

9 A nd David answereth Rechab and Baanah his brother, sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and saith to them, `Jehovah liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity,

David respondió a Recab y a su hermano Baana, hijos de Rimón beerotita, y les dijo: —¡Vive Jehová!, que ha redimido mi alma de toda angustia.

10 w hen one is declaring to me, saying, Lo, Saul is dead, and he was as a bearer of tidings in his own eyes, then I take hold on him, and slay him in Ziklag, instead of my giving to him the tidings.

Al que me dio la noticia de que Saúl había muerto, imaginándose que traía buenas noticias, yo lo prendí y lo maté en Siclag, como pago por esa noticia.

11 A lso -- when wicked men have slain the righteous man in his own house, on his bed; and now, do not I require his blood of your hand, and have taken you away from the earth?'

¿Cuánto más a los malos hombres que mataron a un hombre justo en su casa y sobre su cama? Ahora, pues, ¿no he de demandar yo su sangre de vuestras manos, y quitaros de la tierra?

12 A nd David commandeth the young men, and they slay them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hang over the pool in Hebron, and the head of Ish-Bosheth they have taken, and bury in the burying-place of Abner in Hebron.

Entonces David dio una orden a sus servidores, que los mataron, les cortaron las manos y los pies y los colgaron junto al estanque de Hebrón. Luego tomaron la cabeza de Is-boset, y la enterraron en el sepulcro de Abner, en Hebrón.
