1 F or, lo, the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, Is turning aside from Jerusalem, And from Judah, stay and staff, Every stay of bread, and every stay of water.

Porque el Señor, Jehová de los ejércitos, quita de Jerusalén y de Judá al sustentador y al fuerte, toda provisión de pan y toda provisión de agua;

2 H ero and man of war, judge and prophet, And diviner and elder,

al valiente y al hombre de guerra, al juez y al profeta, al adivino y al anciano;

3 H ead of fifty, and accepted of faces, And counsellor, and the wise of artificers, And the intelligent of charmers.

al capitán de cincuenta y al hombre respetable, al consejero, al artífice excelente y al hábil orador.

4 A nd I have made youths their heads, And sucklings rule over them.

Y les pondré jóvenes por gobernantes: muchachos serán sus señores.

5 A nd the people hath exacted -- man upon man, Even a man on his neighbour, Enlarge themselves do the youths against the aged, And the lightly esteemed against the honoured.

Entre el pueblo brotará la violencia de unos contra otros, cada cual contra su vecino; el joven se levantará contra el anciano, y el plebeyo contra el noble.

6 W hen one layeth hold on his brother, the house of his father, the garment, `Come, a ruler thou art to us, And this ruin under thy hand.'

Cuando alguno tome de la mano a su hermano, de la familia de su padre, y le diga: «Tú tienes vestido, tú serás nuestro gobernante» y «Toma en tus manos esta ruina»,

7 H e lifteth up, in that day, saying: `I am not a binder up, And in my house is neither bread nor garment, Ye do not make me a ruler of the people.'

él jurará aquel día, diciendo: «¡No tomaré yo ese cuidado, pues en mi casa no hay pan ni qué vestir! ¡No me hagáis gobernante del pueblo!»

8 F or stumbled hath Jerusalem, and Judah hath fallen, For their tongue and their doings against Jehovah, To provoke the eyes of His glory.

Porque arruinada está Jerusalén y Judá ha caído; pues la lengua de ellos y sus obras han sido contra Jehová para desafiar la faz de su gloria.

9 T he appearance of their faces witnessed against them, And their sin, as Sodom, they declared, They have not hidden! Wo to their soul, For they have done to themselves evil.

La apariencia de sus rostros testifica contra ellos, porque, como Sodoma, publican su pecado. ¡No lo disimulan! ¡Ay de sus vidas!, porque amontonaron mal para sí.

10 S ay ye to the righteous, that good, Because the fruit of their doings they eat.

Decid al justo que le irá bien, porque comerá de los frutos de sus manos.

11 W o to the wicked -- evil, Because the deed of his hand is done to him.

¡Ay del malvado! Mal le irá, porque según las obras de sus manos le será pagado.

12 M y people -- its exactors sucklings, And women have ruled over it. My people -- thy eulogists are causing to err, And the way of thy paths swallowed up.

Los opresores de mi pueblo son muchachos, y mujeres se enseñorearon de él. ¡Pueblo mío, los que te guían te engañan y tuercen el curso de tus caminos!

13 J ehovah hath stood up to plead, And He is standing to judge the peoples.

Jehová está en pie para litigar y para juzgar a su pueblo.

14 J ehovah into judgment doth enter With elders of His people, and its heads: `And ye, ye have consumed the vineyard, Plunder of the poor in your houses.

Jehová vendrá a juicio contra los ancianos de su pueblo y contra sus gobernantes. Porque vosotros habéis devorado la viña y el despojo del pobre está en vuestras casas.

15 W hat -- to you? ye bruise My people, And the faces of the poor ye grind.' An affirmation of the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, And Jehovah saith:

¿Qué pensáis vosotros que trituráis a mi pueblo y moléis las caras de los pobres? dice el Señor, Jehová de los ejércitos. Juicio contra las hijas de Sión

16 ` Because that daughters of Zion have been haughty, And they walk stretching out the neck, And deceiving the eyes, Walking and mincing they go, And with their feet they make a tinkling,

Asimismo dice Jehová: «Por cuanto las hijas de Sión se ensoberbecen y andan con el cuello erguido y ojos desvergonzados; que caminan como si danzaran, haciendo sonar los adornos de sus pies;

17 T he Lord also hath scabbed The crown of the head of daughters of Zion, And Jehovah their simplicity exposeth.

por eso, el Señor rapará la cabeza de las hijas de Sión, y Jehová descubrirá sus vergüenzas.»

18 I n that day doth the Lord turn aside The beauty of the tinkling ornaments, And of the embroidered works, And of the round tires like moons,

Aquel día quitará el Señor el adorno del calzado, las redecillas, las lunetas,

19 O f the drops, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,

los collares, los pendientes y los brazaletes,

20 O f the bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, And of the bands, And of the perfume boxes, and the amulets,

los turbantes, los adornos de las piernas, los partidores del pelo, los pomitos de olor y los zarcillos,

21 O f the seals, and of the nose-rings,

los anillos y los joyeles de las narices,

22 O f the costly apparel, and of the mantles, And of the coverings, and of the purses,

las ropas de gala, los mantoncillos, los velos, las bolsas,

23 O f the mirrors, and of the linen garments, And of the hoods, and of the vails,

los espejos, el lino fino, los turbantes y los tocados.

24 A nd it hath been, instead of spice is muck, And instead of a girdle, a rope, And instead of curled work, baldness, And instead of a stomacher a girdle of sackcloth.

En lugar de los perfumes aromáticos vendrá hediondez, soga en lugar de cinturón, y cabeza rapada en lugar de rizos del cabello; en lugar de vestidos de gala, ceñimiento de ropas ásperas, y cicatriz de fuego en vez de hermosura.

25 F or instead of glory, thy men by sword do fall, And thy might in battle.

Tus varones caerán a espada y tu fuerza en la guerra.

26 A nd lamented and mourned have her openings, Yea, she hath been emptied, on the earth she sitteth!

Sus puertas se entristecerán y enlutarán, y ella, desamparada, se sentará en tierra.
