1 A nd it came to pass, in the multitude pressing on him to hear the word of God, that he was standing beside the lake of Gennesaret,

Aconteció que estando Jesús junto al Lago de Genesaret, el gentío se agolpaba sobre él para oír la palabra de Dios.

2 a nd he saw two boats standing beside the lake, and the fishers, having gone away from them, were washing the nets,

Vio dos barcas que estaban cerca de la orilla del lago; los pescadores habían descendido de ellas y lavaban sus redes.

3 a nd having entered into one of the boats, that was Simon's, he asked him to put back a little from the land, and having sat down, was teaching the multitudes out of the boat.

Entró en una de aquellas barcas, la cual era de Simón y le rogó que la apartara de tierra un poco. Luego, sentándose, enseñaba desde la barca a la multitud.

4 A nd when he left off speaking, he said unto Simon, `Put back to the deep, and let down your nets for a draught;'

Cuando terminó de hablar, dijo a Simón: —Boga mar adentro, y echad vuestras redes para pescar.

5 a nd Simon answering said to him, `Master, through the whole night, having laboured, we have taken nothing, but at thy saying I will let down the net.'

Respondiendo Simón, le dijo: —Maestro, toda la noche hemos estado trabajando y nada hemos pescado; pero en tu palabra echaré la red.

6 A nd having done this, they enclosed a great multitude of fishes, and their net was breaking,

Cuando lo hicieron, recogieron tal cantidad de peces que su red se rompía.

7 a nd they beckoned to the partners, who in the other boat, having come, to help them; and they came, and filled both the boats, so that they were sinking.

Entonces hicieron señas a los compañeros que estaban en la otra barca para que acudieran a ayudarlos. Ellos vinieron y llenaron ambas barcas, de tal manera que se hundían.

8 A nd Simon Peter having seen, fell down at the knees of Jesus, saying, `Depart from me, because I am a sinful man, O lord;'

Viendo esto Simón Pedro, cayó de rodillas ante Jesús, diciendo: —Apártate de mí, Señor, porque soy hombre pecador.

9 f or astonishment seized him, and all those with him, at the draught of the fishes that they took,

Por la pesca que habían hecho, el temor se había apoderado de él y de todos los que estaban con él,

10 a nd in like manner also James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon; and Jesus said unto Simon, `Fear not, henceforth thou shalt be catching men;'

y asimismo de Jacobo y Juan, hijos de Zebedeo, que eran compañeros de Simón. Pero Jesús dijo a Simón: —No temas; desde ahora serás pescador de hombres.

11 a nd they, having brought the boats upon the land, having left all, did follow him.

Trajeron a tierra las barcas y, dejándolo todo, lo siguieron. Jesús sana a un leproso

12 A nd it came to pass, in his being in one of the cities, that lo, a man full of leprosy, and having seen Jesus, having fallen on face, he besought him, saying, `Sir, if thou mayest will, thou art able to cleanse me;'

Sucedió que estando él en una de las ciudades, se presentó un hombre lleno de lepra, el cual, viendo a Jesús, se postró con el rostro en tierra y le rogó, diciendo: —Señor, si quieres, puedes limpiarme.

13 a nd having stretched forth hand, he touched him, having said, `I will; be thou cleansed;' and immediately the leprosy went away from him.

Jesús entonces, extendiendo la mano, lo tocó, diciendo: —Quiero, sé limpio. Y al instante la lepra se fue de él.

14 A nd he charged him to tell no one, `But, having gone away, shew thyself to the priest, and bring near for thy cleansing according as Moses directed, for a testimony to them;'

Jesús le mandó que no lo dijera a nadie. Le dijo: —Ve, muéstrate al sacerdote y ofrece por tu purificación lo que mandó Moisés, para testimonio a ellos.

15 b ut the more was the report going abroad concerning him, and great multitudes were coming together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities,

Pero su fama se extendía más y más; y se reunía mucha gente para oírlo y para que los sanara de sus enfermedades.

16 a nd he was withdrawing himself in the desert places and was praying.

Pero él se apartaba a lugares desiertos para orar. Jesús sana a un paralítico

17 A nd it came to pass, on one of the days, that he was teaching, and there were sitting by Pharisees and teachers of the Law, who were come out of every village of Galilee, and Judea, and Jerusalem, and the power of the Lord was -- to heal them.

Aconteció un día que él estaba enseñando, y estaban sentados los fariseos y doctores de la Ley, los cuales habían venido de todas las aldeas de Galilea, de Judea y Jerusalén; y el poder del Señor estaba con él para sanar.

18 A nd lo, men bearing upon a couch a man, who hath been struck with palsy, and they were seeking to bring him in, and to place before him,

Sucedió que unos hombres que traían en una camilla a un hombre que estaba paralítico, procuraban entrar y ponerlo delante de él.

19 a nd not having found by what way they may bring him in because of the multitude, having gone up on the house-top, through the tiles they let him down, with the little couch, into the midst before Jesus,

Pero no hallando cómo hacerlo a causa de la multitud, subieron encima de la casa y por el tejado lo bajaron con la camilla y lo pusieron en medio, delante de Jesús.

20 a nd he having seen their faith, said to him, `Man, thy sins have been forgiven thee.'

Al ver él la fe de ellos, le dijo: —Hombre, tus pecados te son perdonados.

21 A nd the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, `Who is this that doth speak evil words? who is able to forgive sins, except God only?'

Entonces los escribas y los fariseos comenzaron a pensar, diciendo: «¿Quién es éste que habla blasfemias? ¿Quién puede perdonar pecados sino sólo Dios?»

22 A nd Jesus having known their reasonings, answering, said unto them, `What reason ye in your hearts?

Jesús entonces, conociendo los pensamientos de ellos, les preguntó: —¿Qué pensáis en vuestros corazones?

23 w hich is easier -- to say, Thy sins have been forgiven thee? or to say, Arise, and walk?

¿Qué es más fácil, decir: “Tus pecados te son perdonados”, o decir: “Levántate y anda”?

24 ` And that ye may know that the Son of Man hath authority upon the earth to forgive sins -- (he said to the one struck with palsy) -- I say to thee, Arise, and having taken up thy little couch, be going on to thy house.'

Pues para que sepáis que el Hijo del hombre tiene potestad en la tierra para perdonar pecados —dijo al paralítico—: A ti te digo: Levántate, toma tu camilla y vete a tu casa.

25 A nd presently having risen before them, having taken up on which he was lying, he went away to his house, glorifying God,

Al instante se levantó en presencia de ellos, tomó la camilla en que estaba acostado y se fue a su casa glorificando a Dios.

26 a nd astonishment took all, and they were glorifying God, and were filled with fear, saying -- `We saw strange things to-day.'

Y todos, sobrecogidos de asombro, glorificaban a Dios. Llenos de temor, decían: —Hoy hemos visto maravillas. Llamamiento de Leví

27 A nd after these things he went forth, and beheld a tax-gatherer, by name Levi, sitting at the tax-office, and said to him, `Be following me;'

Después de estas cosas salió y vio a un publicano llamado Leví, sentado al banco de los tributos públicos, y le dijo: —Sígueme.

28 a nd he, having left all, having arisen, did follow him.

Él, dejándolo todo, se levantó y lo siguió.

29 A nd Levi made a great entertainment to him in his house, and there was a great multitude of tax-gatherers and others who were with them reclining (at meat),

Leví le hizo un gran banquete en su casa; y había mucha compañía de publicanos y de otros que estaban a la mesa con ellos.

30 a nd the scribes and the Pharisees among them were murmuring at his disciples, saying, `Wherefore with tax-gatherers and sinners do ye eat and drink?'

Los escribas y los fariseos murmuraban contra los discípulos, diciendo: —¿Por qué coméis y bebéis con publicanos y pecadores?

31 A nd Jesus answering said unto them, `They who are well have no need of a physician, but they that are ill:

Respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: —Los que están sanos no tienen necesidad de médico, sino los enfermos.

32 I came not to call righteous men, but sinners, to reformation.'

No he venido a llamar a justos, sino a pecadores al arrepentimiento. La pregunta sobre el ayuno

33 A nd they said unto him, `Wherefore do the disciples of John fast often, and make supplications -- in like manner also those of the Pharisees -- but thine do eat and drink?'

Entonces ellos le preguntaron: —¿Por qué los discípulos de Juan ayunan muchas veces y hacen oraciones, y asimismo los de los fariseos, pero los tuyos comen y beben?

34 A nd he said unto them, `Are ye able to make the sons of the bride-chamber -- in the bridegroom being with them -- to fast?

Él les dijo: —¿Podéis acaso hacer que los que están de bodas ayunen entre tanto que el esposo está con ellos?

35 b ut days will come, and, when the bridegroom may be taken away from them, then they shall fast in those days.'

Pero vendrán días cuando el esposo les será quitado; entonces, en aquellos días, ayunarán.

36 A nd he spake also a simile unto them -- `No one a patch of new clothing doth put on old clothing, and if otherwise, the new also doth make a rent, and with the old the patch doth not agree, that from the new.

Les dijo también una parábola: —Nadie corta un pedazo de un vestido nuevo y lo pone en un vestido viejo, pues si lo hace, no solamente rompe el nuevo, sino que el remiendo sacado de él no armoniza con el viejo.

37 ` And no one doth put new wine into old skins, and if otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins, and itself will be poured out, and the skins will be destroyed;

Y nadie echa vino nuevo en odres viejos; de otra manera, el vino nuevo romperá los odres y se derramará, y los odres se perderán.

38 b ut new wine into new skins is to be put, and both are preserved together;

Pero el vino nuevo en odres nuevos se ha de echar, y lo uno y lo otro se conservan.

39 a nd no one having drunk old, doth immediately wish new, for he saith, The old is better.'

Y nadie que haya bebido del añejo querrá luego el nuevo, porque dice: “El añejo es mejor.”
