1 ` And this the command, the statutes and the judgments which Jehovah your God hath commanded to teach you, to do in the land which ye are passing over thither to possess it,

»Estos, pues, son los mandamientos, estatutos y decretos que Jehová, vuestro Dios, mandó que os enseñara, para que los pongáis por obra en la tierra a la que vais a pasar para tomarla en posesión,

2 s o that thou dost fear Jehovah thy God, to keep all His statutes and His commands, which I am commanding thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all days of thy life, and so that thy days are prolonged.

a fin de que temas a Jehová, tu Dios, guardando todos los estatutos y mandamientos que yo te mando, tú, tu hijo y el hijo de tu hijo, todos los días de tu vida, para que se prolonguen tus días.

3 ` And thou hast heard, O Israel, and observed to do, that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest multiply exceedingly, as Jehovah, God of thy fathers, hath spoken to thee, the land flowing with milk and honey.

Oye, pues, Israel, y cuida de ponerlos por obra, para que te vaya bien en la tierra que fluye leche y miel, y os multipliquéis, como te ha dicho Jehová, el Dios de tus padres.

4 ` Hear, O Israel, Jehovah our God one Jehovah;

»Oye, Israel: Jehová, nuestro Dios, Jehová uno es.

5 a nd thou hast loved Jehovah thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might,

»Amarás a Jehová, tu Dios, de todo tu corazón, de toda tu alma y con todas tus fuerzas.

6 a nd these words which I am commanding thee to-day have been on thine heart,

»Estas palabras que yo te mando hoy, estarán sobre tu corazón.

7 a nd thou hast repeated them to thy sons, and spoken of them in thy sitting in thine house, and in thy walking in the way, and in thy lying down, and in thy rising up,

Se las repetirás a tus hijos, y les hablarás de ellas estando en tu casa y andando por el camino, al acostarte y cuando te levantes.

8 a nd hast bound them for a sign upon thy hand, and they have been for frontlets between thine eyes,

Las atarás como una señal en tu mano, y estarán como frontales entre tus ojos;

9 a nd thou hast written them on door-posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

las escribirás en los postes de tu casa y en tus puertas. Exhortaciones a la obediencia

10 ` And it hath been, when Jehovah thy God doth bring thee in unto the land which He hath sworn to thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give to thee -- cities great and good, which thou hast not built,

»Cuando Jehová, tu Dios, te haya introducido en la tierra que juró a tus padres Abraham, Isaac y Jacob que te daría, en ciudades grandes y buenas que tú no edificaste,

11 a nd houses full of all good things which thou hast not filled, and wells digged which thou hast not digged, vineyards and olive-yards which thou hast not planted, and thou hast eaten, and been satisfied;

con casas llenas de toda clase de bienes, las cuales tú no llenaste, con cisternas cavadas, que tú no cavaste, y viñas y olivares que no plantaste, luego que comas y te sacies,

12 ` Take heed to thyself lest thou forget Jehovah who hath brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of a house of servants;

cuídate de no olvidarte de Jehová, que te sacó de la tierra de Egipto, de casa de servidumbre.

13 J ehovah thy God thou dost fear, and Him thou dost serve, and by His name thou dost swear;

A Jehová, tu Dios, temerás, a él solo servirás y por su nombre jurarás.

14 y e do not go after other gods, of the gods of the peoples who round about you;

No vayáis detrás de dioses ajenos, de los dioses de los pueblos que están en vuestros contornos,

15 f or a zealous God Jehovah thy God in thy midst -- lest the anger of Jehovah thy God burn against thee, and He hath destroyed thee from off the face of the ground.

porque Jehová, tu Dios, que está en medio de ti, es un Dios celoso; su furor se inflamaría contra ti y te haría desaparecer de sobre la tierra.

16 ` Ye do not try Jehovah your God as ye tried in Massah;

»No tentaréis a Jehová, vuestro Dios, como lo tentasteis en Masah.

17 y e do diligently keep the commands of Jehovah your God, and His testimonies, and His statutes which He hath commanded thee,

Guardad cuidadosamente los mandamientos de Jehová, vuestro Dios, sus testimonios y los estatutos que te ha mandado.

18 a nd thou hast done that which is right and good in the eyes of Jehovah, so that it is well with thee, and thou hast gone in and possessed the good land which Jehovah hath sworn to thy fathers,

Haz lo recto y bueno ante los ojos de Jehová, para que te vaya bien y llegues a poseer la buena tierra que Jehová juró dar a tus padres,

19 t o drive away all thine enemies from thy presence, as Jehovah hath spoken.

y para que él arroje a tus enemigos de delante de ti, como Jehová ha dicho.

20 ` When thy son asketh thee hereafter, saying, What the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which Jehovah our God hath commanded you?

»Mañana, cuando te pregunte tu hijo: “¿Qué significan los testimonios, estatutos y decretos que Jehová nuestro Dios os mandó?”,

21 t hen thou hast said to thy son, Servants we have been to Pharaoh in Egypt, and Jehovah bringeth us out of Egypt by a high hand;

dirás a tu hijo: “Nosotros éramos siervos del faraón en Egipto, y Jehová nos sacó de Egipto con mano poderosa.

22 a nd Jehovah giveth signs and wonders, great and sad, on Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on all his house, before our eyes;

Jehová hizo delante de nuestros ojos señales y milagros grandes y terribles en Egipto, contra el faraón y contra toda su casa.

23 a nd us He hath brought out thence, in order to bring us in, to give to us the land which He had sworn to our fathers.

Y nos sacó de allá para traernos y darnos la tierra que prometió a nuestros padres.

24 A nd Jehovah commandeth us to do all these statutes, to fear Jehovah our God, for good to ourselves all the days, to keep us alive, as this day;

Jehová nos mandó que cumplamos todos estos estatutos, y que temamos a Jehová, nuestro Dios, para que nos vaya bien todos los días y para que nos conserve la vida, como hasta hoy.

25 a nd righteousness it is for us, when we observe to do all this command before Jehovah our God, as He hath commanded us.

Y tendremos justicia cuando cuidemos de poner por obra todos estos mandamientos delante de Jehová, nuestro Dios, como él nos ha mandado.”
