1 A nd Huram king of Tyre sendeth messengers unto David, and cedar-wood, and artificers of walls, and artificers of wood, to build to him a house.

Hi-ram, vua Ty-rơ, sai sứ giả đến Đa-vít, cùng gởi gỗ bá hương, thợ hồ, thợ mộc, đặng cất cho người một cái cung.

2 A nd David knoweth that Jehovah hath established him for king over Israel, because of the lifting up on high of his kingdom, for the sake of His people Israel.

Đa-vít nhìn biết rằng Đức Giê-hô-va đã vững lập mình làm vua trên Y-sơ-ra-ên; vì cớ dân Y-sơ-ra-ên của Ngài, nước người được hưng vượng thêm.

3 A nd David taketh again wives in Jerusalem, and David begetteth again sons and daughters;

Tại Giê-ru-sa-lem, Đa-vít lại còn lấy vợ khác, và sanh những con trai con gái.

4 a nd these the names of the children whom he hath in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,

Nầy là tên các con cái người sanh tại Giê-ru-sa-lem: Sa-mua, Sô-háp, Na-than, Sa-lô-môn,

5 a nd Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,

Gi-ba, Ê-li-sua, E

6 a nd Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

Nô-ga, Nê-phết, Gia-phia,

7 a nd Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet.

Ê-li-sa-ma, Bê-ên-gia-đa, và Ê-li-phê-lết.

8 A nd the Philistines hear that David hath been anointed for king over all Israel, and all the Philistines go up to seek David, and David heareth, and goeth out before them.

Khi dân Phi-li-tin hay rằng Đa-vít đã được xức dầu làm vua trên cả Y-sơ-ra-ên, thì hết thảy người Phi-li-tin đều đi lên đặng tìm người; Đa-vít hay đều đó, bèn đi ra đón chúng nó.

9 A nd the Philistines have come, and rush into the valley of Rephaim,

Vả dân Phi-li-tin đã loán đến, tràn ra trong trũng Rê-pha-im.

10 a nd David asketh of God, saying, `Do I go up against the Philistines -- and hast Thou given them into my hand?' And Jehovah saith to him, `Go up, and I have given them into thy hand.'

Đa-vít cầu vấn Đức Chúa Trời rằng: Tôi phải đi lên đánh dân Phi-li-tin chăng? Chúa sẽ phó chúng nó vào tay tôi chăng? Đức Giê-hô-va đáp lời cùng người rằng: Hãy đi lên, ta sẽ phó chúng nó vào tay ngươi.

11 A nd they go up into Baal-Perazim, and David smiteth them there, and David saith, `God hath broken up mine enemies by my hand, like the breaking up of waters;' therefore they have called the name of that place Baal-Perazim.

Ngài Phi-li-tin kéo lên Ba-anh-Phê-rát-sim, rồi tại đó Đa-vít đánh chúng nó; đoạn, Đa-vít nói rằng: Đức Chúa Trời có dùng tay ta đã đánh phá cơn thịnh nộ ta, như nước phá vỡ vậy; bởi cớ ấy người ta gọi chỗ đó là Ba-anh-Phê-rát-sim.

12 A nd they leave there their gods, and David speaketh, and they are burnt with fire.

Người Phi-li-tin bỏ các thần tượng mình tại đó; Đa-vít truyền thiêu nó trong lửa.

13 A nd the Philistines add again, and rush into the valley,

Người Phi-li-tin lại bủa khắp trong trũng.

14 a nd David asketh again of God, and God saith to him, `Do not go up after them, turn round from them, and thou hast come to them from over-against the mulberries;

Đa-vít cầu vấn Đức Chúa Trời nữa; Đức Chúa Trời đáp với người rằng: Ngươi chớ đi lên theo chúng nó; hãy đi vòng chúng nó, rồi đến hãm đánh chúng nó tại nơi đối ngang cây dâu.

15 a nd it cometh to pass, when thou hearest the sound of the stepping at the heads of the mulberries, then thou goest out into battle, for God hath gone out before thee to smite the camp of the Philistines.'

Vừa khi ngươi nghe tiếng bước đi trên ngọn cây dâu, bấy giờ ngươi sẽ kéo ra trận; vì Đức Chúa Trời ra trước ngươi đặng hãm đánh đạo quân Phi-li-tin.

16 A nd David doth as God commanded him, and they smite the camp of the Philistines from Gibeon even unto Gazer;

Đa-vít làm y như lời Đức Chúa Trời đã phán dặn; họ đánh đuổi đạo quân Phi-li-tin từ Ga-ba-ôn cho đến Ghê-xe.

17 a nd the name of David goeth out into all the lands, and Jehovah hath put his fear on all the nations.

Danh của Đa-vít đồn ra trong khắp các nước; Đức Giê-hô-va khiến cho các dân tộc đều kính sợ Đa-vít.
