1 A nd Jehoshaphat lieth with his fathers, and is buried with his fathers in the city of David, and Jehoram his son reigneth in his stead.

Depois Jeosafá dormiu com seus pais, e com eles foi sepultado na cidade de Davi. E Jeorão, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.

2 A nd he hath brethren, sons of Jehoshaphat, Azariah, and Jehiel, and Zechariah, and Azariah, and Michael, and Shephatiah; all these sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel,

E tinha irmãos, filhos de Jeosafá: Azarias, Jeiel, Zacarias, Asarias, Micael e Sefatias; todos estes foram filhos de Jeosafá, rei de Judá.

3 a nd their father giveth to them many gifts of silver and of gold, and of precious things, with fenced cities in Judah, and the kingdom he hath given to Jehoram, for He the first-born.

Seu pai lhes dera grandes dádivas, em prata, em ouro e em objetos preciosos, juntamente com cidades fortes em Judá; mas o reino deu a Jeorão, porque ele era o primogênito.

4 A nd Jehoram riseth up over the kingdom of his father, and strengtheneth himself, and slayeth all his brethren with the sword, and also -- of the heads of Israel.

Ora, tendo Jeorão subido ao reino de seu pai, e havendo-se fortificado, matou todos os seus irmãos ã espada, como também alguns dos príncipes de Israel.

5 A son of thirty and two years Jehoram in his reigning, and eight years he hath reigned in Jerusalem,

Jeorão tinha trinta e dois anos quando começou a reinar, e reinou oito anos em Jerusalém.

6 a nd he walketh in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab, for a daughter of Ahab hath been to him for a wife, and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah,

E andou no caminho dos reis de Israel, como faz Acabe, porque tinha a filha de Acabe por mulher; e fazia o que parecia mal aos olhos do senhor.

7 a nd Jehovah hath not been willing to destroy the house of David, for the sake of the covenant that He made with David, and as He had said to give to him a lamp, and to his sons -- all the days.

Contudo o Senhor não quis destruir a casa de Davi, em atenção ao pacto que tinha feito com ele, e porque tinha dito que lhe daria por todos os dias uma lâmpada, a ele e a seus filhos.

8 I n his days hath Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and cause a king to reign over them;

Nos dias de Jeorão os edomeus se revoltaram contra o domínio de Judá, e constituíram para si um rei.

9 a nd Jehoram passeth over with his heads, and all the chariots with him, and it cometh to pass, he hath risen by night and smiteth the Edomites who are coming round against him, and the princes of the chariots,

Pelo que Jeorão passou adiante com os seus chefes e com todos os seus carros; e, levantando-se de noite, desbaratou os edomeus, que tinham cercado a ele e aos capitães dos carros.

10 a nd Edom revolteth from under the hand of Judah unto this day; then doth Libnah revolt at that time from under his hand, because he hath forsaken Jehovah, God of his fathers,

Todavia os edomeus ficaram revoltados contra o domínio de Judá até o dia de hoje. Nesse mesmo tempo Libna também se revoltou contra o seu domínio, porque ele deixara ao Senhor, Deus de seus pais.

11 a lso, he hath made high places in the mountains of Judah, and causeth the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit whoredom, and compelleth Judah.

Ele fez também altos nos montes de Judá, induziu os habitantes de Jerusalém ã idolatria e impeliu Judá a prevaricar.

12 A nd there cometh in unto him a writing from Elijah the prophet, saying, `Thus said Jehovah, God of David thy father, Because that thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, and in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

Então lhe veio uma carta da parte de Elias, o profeta, que dizia: Assim diz o Senhor, Deus de Davi teu pai: Porquanto não andaste nos caminhos de Jeosafá, teu pai, e nos caminhos de Asa, rei de Judá;

13 a nd thou dost walk in the way of the kings of Israel, and dost cause Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit whoredom like the whoredoms of the house of Ahab, and also thy brethren, the house of thy father, who are better than thyself, thou hast slain;

mas andaste no caminho dos reis de Israel e induziste Judá e os habitantes de Jerusalém a idolatria semelhante ã idolatria da casa de Acabe, e também mataste teus irmãos, da casa de teu pai, os quais eram melhores do que tu;

14 l o, Jehovah is smiting -- a great smiting -- among thy people, and among thy sons, and among thy wives, and among all thy goods --

eis que o Senhor ferirá com uma grande praga o teu povo, os teus filhos, as tuas mulheres e toda a tua fazenda;

15 a nd thou, with many sicknesses, with disease of thy bowels, till thy bowels come out, by the sickness, day by day.'

e tu terás uma grave enfermidade; a saber, um mal nas tuas entranhas, ate que elas saiam, de dia em dia, por causa do mal.

16 A nd Jehovah waketh up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, who beside the Cushim,

E o Senhor despertou contra Jeorão o espírito dos filisteus e dos árabes que estão da banda dos etíopes.

17 a nd they come up into Judah, and rend it, and take captive all the substance that is found at the house of the king, and also his sons, and his wives, and there hath not been left to him a son except Jehoahaz the youngest of his sons.

Estes subiram a Judá e, dando sobre ela, levaram toda a fazenda que se achou na casa do rei, como também seus filhos e suas mulheres; de modo que não lhe ficou filho algum, senão Jeoacaz, o mais moço de seus filhos.

18 A nd after all this hath Jehovah plagued him in his bowels by a disease for which there is no healing,

E depois de tudo isso o Senhor o feriu nas suas entranhas com uma enfermidade incurável.

19 a nd it cometh to pass, from days to days, and at the time of the going out of the end of two years, his bowels have gone out with his sickness, and he dieth of sore diseases, and his people have not made for him a burning like the burning of his fathers.

No decorrer do tempo, ao fim de dois anos, saíram-lhe as entranhas por causa da doença, e morreu desta horrível enfermidade. E o seu povo não lhe queimou aromas como queimara a seus pais.

20 A son of thirty and two was he in his reigning, and eight years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and he goeth without desire, and they bury him in the city of David, and not in the graves of the kings.

Tinha trinta e dois anos quando começou a reinar, e reinou oito anos em Jerusalém. Morreu sem deixar de si saudades; e o sepultaram na cidade de Davi, porém não nos sepulcros dos reis.
