1 H ear ye this word that Jehovah hath spoken concerning you, O sons of Israel, concerning all the family that I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying:

Ouvi esta palavra que o Senhor fala contra vós, filhos de Israel, contra toda a família que fiz subir da terra do Egito, dizendo:

2 O nly you I have known of all families of the land, Therefore I charge on you all your iniquities.

De todas as famílias da terra só a vós vos tenho conhecido; portanto eu vos punirei por todas as vossas iniqüidades.

3 D o two walk together if they have not met?

Acaso andarão dois juntos, se não estiverem de acordo?

4 R oar doth a lion in a forest and prey he hath none? Give out doth a young lion his voice from his habitation, If he hath not caught?

Bramirá o leão no bosque, sem que tenha presa? Fará ouvir a sua voz o leão novo no seu covil, se nada tiver apanhado?

5 D oth a bird fall into a snare of the earth, And there is no gin for it? Doth a snare go up from the ground, And prey it captureth not?

Cairá a ave no laço em terra, se não houver armadilha para ela? levantar-se-á da terra o laço, sem que tenha apanhado alguma coisa?

6 I s a trumpet blown in a city, And do people not tremble? Is there affliction in a city, And Jehovah hath not done ?

Tocar-se-á a trombeta na cidade, e o povo não estremecerá? Sucederá qualquer mal ã cidade, sem que o Senhor o tenha feito?

7 F or the Lord Jehovah doth nothing, Except He hath revealed His counsel unto His servants the prophets.

Certamente o Senhor Deus não fará coisa alguma, sem ter revelado o seu segredo aos seus servos, os profetas.

8 A lion hath roared -- who doth not fear? The Lord Jehovah hath spoken -- who doth not prophesy?

Bramiu o leão, quem não temerá? Falou o Senhor Deus, quem não profetizará?

9 S ound ye unto palaces in Ashdod, And to palaces in the land of Egypt, and say: Be ye gathered on mountains of Samaria, And see many troubles within her, And oppressed ones in her midst.

Proclamai nos palácios de Asdode, e nos palácios da terra do Egito, e dizei: Ajuntai-vos sobre os montes de Samária, e vede que grandes alvoroços nela há, e que opressões no meio dela.

10 A nd they have not known to act straightforwardly, An affirmation of Jehovah, Who are treasuring up violence and spoil in their palaces.

Pois não sabem fazer o que é reto, diz o Senhor, aqueles que entesouram nos seus palácios a violência e a destruição.

11 T herefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah: An adversary -- and surrounding the land, And he hath brought down from thee thy strength, And spoiled have been thy palaces.

Portanto, o Senhor Deus diz assim: um inimigo cercará a tua terra; derrubará a tua fortaleza, e os teus palácios serão saqueados.

12 T hus said Jehovah: As the shepherd delivereth from the lion's mouth Two legs, or a piece of an ear, So delivered are the sons of Israel, Who are sitting in Samaria on the corner of a bed, And in Damascus a couch.

Assim diz o Senhor: Como o pastor livra da boca do leão as duas pernas, ou um pedacinho da orelha, assim serão livrados os filhos de Israel que habitam em Samária, junto com um canto do leito e um pedaço da cama.

13 H ear ye and testify to the house of Jacob, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, God of Hosts.

Ouvi, e protestai contra a casa de Jacó, diz o Senhor Deus, o Deus dos exércitos:

14 F or in the day of My charging the transgressions of Israel on him, I have laid a charge on the altars of Beth-El, And cut off have been the horns of the altar, And they have fallen to the earth.

Pois no dia em que eu punir as transgressões de Israel, também castigarei os altares de Betel; e as pontas do altar serão cortadas, e cairão por terra.

15 A nd I have smitten the winter-house with the summer-house, And perished have houses of ivory, And consumed have been many houses, An affirmation of Jehovah!

Derribarei a casa de inverno juntamente com a casa de verão; as casas de marfim perecerão, e as grandes casas terão fim, diz o Senhor.
