1 T he word that Jehovah hath spoken concerning Babylon, concerning the land of the Chaldeans, by the hand of Jeremiah the prophet:

A palavra que falou o Senhor acerca de Babilônia, acerca da terra dos caldeus, por intermédio de Jeremias o profeta.

2 ` Declare ye among nations, and sound, And lift up an ensign, sound, do not hide, Say ye: Captured hath been Babylon, Put to shame hath been Bel, Broken hath been Merodach, Put to shame have been her grievous things, Broken have been her idols.

Anunciai entre as nações e publicai, arvorando um estandarte; sim publicai, não encubrais; dizei: Tomada está Babilônia, confundido está Bel, caído está Merodaque, confundidos estão os seus ídolos, e caídos estão os seus deuses.

3 F or come up against her hath a nation from the north, It maketh her land become a desolation, And there is not an inhabitant in it. From man even unto beast, They have moved, they have gone.

Pois do Norte sobe contra ela uma nação que fará da sua terra uma desolação, e não haverá quem nela habite; tanto os homens como os animais já fugiram e se foram.

4 I n those days, and at that time, An affirmation of Jehovah, Come in do sons of Israel, They and sons of Judah together, Going on and weeping they go, And Jehovah their God they seek.

Naqueles dias, e naquele tempo, diz o Senhor, os filhos de Israel virão, eles e os filhos de Judá juntamente; andando e chorando virão, e buscarão ao Senhor seu Deus.

5 Z ion they ask the way, Thitherward their faces: Come in, and we are joined unto Jehovah, A covenant age-during -- not forgotten.

Acerca de Sião indagarão, tendo os seus rostos voltados para lá e dizendo: Vinde e uni-vos ao Senhor num pacto eterno que nunca será esquecido.

6 A perishing flock hath My people been, Their shepherds have caused them to err, the mountains causing them to go back, From mountain unto hill they have gone, They have forgotten their crouching-place.

Ovelhas perdidas têm sido o meu povo; os seus pastores as fizeram errar, e voltar aos montes; de monte para outeiro andaram, esqueceram-se do lugar de seu repouso.

7 A ll finding them have devoured them, And their adversaries have said: We are not guilty, Because that they sinned against Jehovah, The habitation of righteousness, And the hope of their fathers -- Jehovah.

Todos os que as achavam as devoraram, e os seus adversários diziam: Culpa nenhuma teremos; porque pecaram contra o Senhor, a morada da justiça, sim, o Senhor, a esperança de seus pais.

8 M ove ye from the midst of Babylon, And from the land of the Chaldeans go out. And be as he-goats before a flock.

Fugi do meio de Babilônia, e saí da terra dos caldeus, e sede como os bodes diante do rebanho.

9 F or, lo, I am stirring up, And am causing to come up against Babylon, An assembly of great nations from a land of the north, And they have set in array against her, From thence she is captured, Its arrow -- as a skilful hero -- returneth not empty,

Pois eis que eu suscitarei e farei subir contra Babilônia uma companhia de grandes nações da terra do Norte; e por-se-ão em ordem contra ela; dali será ela tomada. As suas flechas serão como as de valente herói; nenhuma tornará sem efeito.

10 A nd Chaldea hath been for a spoil, All her spoilers are satisfied, An affirmation of Jehovah.

E Caldéia servirá de presa; todos os que a saquearem ficarão fartos, diz o Senhor.

11 B ecause thou rejoicest, because thou exultest, O spoilers of Mine inheritance, Because thou increasest as a heifer the tender grass, And dost cry aloud as bulls,

Embora vos alegreis e vos regozijeis, ó saqueadores da minha herança, embora andeis soltos como novilha que pisa a erva, e rincheis como cavalos vigorosos,

12 A shamed hath been your mother greatly, Confounded hath she been that bare you, Lo, the hindermost of nations a wilderness, A dry land, and a desert.

muito envergonhada será vossa mãe, ficará humilhada a que vos deu ã luz; eis que ela será a última das nações, um deserto, uma terra seca e uma solidão.

13 B ecause of the wrath of Jehovah it is not inhabited, And it hath been a desolation -- all of it. Every passer by at Babylon is astonished, And doth hiss because of all her plagues.

Por causa da ira do Senhor não será habitada, antes se tornará em total desolação; qualquer que passar por Babilônia se espantará, e assobiará por causa de todas as suas pragas.

14 S et yourselves in array against Babylon round about, All ye treading a bow, Shoot at her, have no pity on the arrow, For against Jehovah she hath sinned.

Ponde-vos em ordem para cercar Babilônia, todos os que armais arcos; atirai-lhe, não poupeis as flechas, porque ela tem pecado contra o Senhor.

15 S hout against her round about, She hath given forth her hand, Fallen have her foundations, Thrown down have been her walls, For it the vengeance of Jehovah, Be avenged of her, as she did -- do ye to her.

Gritai contra ela rodeando-a; ela já se submeteu; caíram seus baluartes, estão derribados os seus muros. Pois esta é a vingança do Senhor; vingai-vos dela; conforme o que ela fez, assim lhe fazei a ela.

16 C ut off the sower from Babylon, And him handling the sickle in the time of harvest, Because of the oppressing sword, Each unto his people -- they turn, And each to his land -- they flee.

Cortai de Babilônia o que semeia, e o que maneja a foice no tempo da sega; por causa da espada do opressor virar-se-á cada um para o seu povo, e fugirá cada qual para a sua terra.

17 A scattered sheep is Israel, lions have driven away, At first, devour him did the king of Asshur, And now, at last, broken his bone Hath Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon.

Cordeiro desgarrado é Israel, os leões o afugentaram; o primeiro a devorá-lo foi o rei da Assíria, e agora por último Nabucodonozor, rei de Babilônia, lhe quebrou os ossos.

18 T herefore thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel: Lo, I am seeing after the king of Babylon, And after his land, As I have seen after the king of Asshur;

Portanto, assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos, Deus de Israel: Eis que castigarei o rei de Babilônia e a sua terra, como castiguei o rei da Assíria.

19 A nd I have brought back Israel unto his habitation, And he hath fed on Carmel, and on Bashan. And in mount Ephraim, and on Gilead is his soul satisfied.

E farei voltar Israel para a sua morada, e ele pastará no Carmelo e em Basã, e se fartará nos outeiros de Efraim e em Gileade.

20 I n those days, and at that time, An affirmation of Jehovah, Sought is the iniquity of Israel, and it is not, And the sin of Judah, and it is not found, For I am propitious to those whom I leave!

Naqueles dias, e naquele tempo, diz o Senhor, buscar-se-á a iniqüidade em Israel, e não haverá; e o pecado em Judá, e não se achará; pois perdoarei aos que eu deixar de resto.

21 A gainst the land of Merathaim: Go up against it, and unto the inhabitants of Pekod, Waste and devote their posterity, An affirmation of Jehovah, And do according to all that I have commanded thee.

Sobe contra a terra de Merataim, sim, contra ela, e contra os moradores de Pecode; mata e inteiramente destrói tudo após eles, diz o Senhor, e faze conforme tudo o que te ordenei.

22 A noise of battle in the land, and of great destruction.

Na terra há estrondo de batalha, e de grande destruição.

23 H ow hath it been cut and broken, The hammer of the whole earth! How hath Babylon been for a desolation among nations!

Como foi cortado e quebrado o martelo de toda a terra! como se tornou Babilônia em objeto de espanto entre as nações!

24 I have laid a snare for thee, And also -- thou art captured, O Babylon, And thou -- thou hast known, Thou hast been found, and also art caught, For against Jehovah thou hast stirred thyself up.

Laços te armei, e também foste presa, ó Babilônia, e tu não o soubeste; foste achada, e também apanhada, porque contra o Senhor te entremeteste.

25 J ehovah hath opened His treasury, And He bringeth out the weapons of His indignation, For a work to the Lord Jehovah of Hosts, In the land of the Chaldeans.

O Senhor abriu o seu arsenal, e tirou os instrumentos da sua indignação; porque o senhor Deus dos exércitos tem uma obra a realizar na terra dos caldeus.

26 C ome ye in to her from the extremity, Open ye her storehouses, Raise her up as heaps, and devote her, Let her have no remnant.

Vinde contra ela dos confins da terra, abri os seus celeiros; fazei dela montões, e destruí-a de todo; nada lhe fique de resto.

27 S lay all her kine, they go down to slaughter, Wo on them, for come hath their day, The time of their inspection.

Matai a todos os seus novilhos, desçam ao degoladouro; ai deles! porque é chegado o seu dia, o tempo da sua punição.

28 A voice of fugitives and escaped ones from the land of Babylon, To declare in Zion the vengeance of Jehovah our God, The vengeance of His temple.

Eis a voz dos que fogem e escapam da terra de Babilônia para anunciarem em Sião a vingança do Senhor nosso Deus, a vingança do seu templo.

29 S ummon unto Babylon archers, all treading the bow, Encamp against her round about, Let have no escape; Recompense to her according to her work, According to all that she did -- do to her, For unto Jehovah she hath been proud, Unto the Holy One of Israel.

Convocai contra Babilônia os flecheiros, todos os que armam arcos; acampai-vos contra ela em redor, ninguém escape dela. Pagai-lhe conforme a sua obra; conforme tudo o que ela fez, assim lhe fazei a ela; porque se houve arrogantemente contra o Senhor, contra o Santo de Israel.

30 T herefore fall do her young men in her broad places, And all her men of war are cut off in that day, An affirmation of Jehovah.

Portanto cairão os seus jovens nas suas praças, e todos os seus homens de guerra serão destruídos naquele dia, diz o Senhor.

31 L o, I against thee, O pride, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah of Hosts, For thy day hath come, the time of thy inspection.

Eis que eu sou contra ti, ó soberbo, diz o Senhor Deus dos exércitos; pois o teu dia é chegado, o tempo em que te hei de punir?

32 A nd stumbled hath pride, And he hath fallen, and hath no raiser up, And I have kindled a fire in his cities, And it hath devoured all round about him.

Então tropeçará o soberbo, e cairá, e ninguém haverá que o levante; e porei fogo

33 T hus said Jehovah of Hosts: Oppressed are the sons of Israel, And the sons of Judah together, And all their captors have kept hold on them, They have refused to send them away.

Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos: Os filhos de Israel e os filhos de Judá são juntamente oprimidos; e todos os que os levaram cativos os retêm, recusam soltá-los.

34 T heir Redeemer strong, Jehovah of Hosts His name, He doth thoroughly plead their cause, So as to cause the land to rest, And He hath given trouble to the inhabitants of Babylon.

Mas o seu Redentor é forte; o Senhor dos exércitos é o seu nome. Certamente defenderá em juízo a causa deles, para dar descanso ã terra, e inquietar os moradores de Babilônia.

35 A sword for the Chaldeans, An affirmation of Jehovah, And it on the inhabitants of Babylon, And on her heads, and on her wise men;

A espada virá sobre os caldeus, diz o senhor, e sobre os moradores de Babilônia, e sobre os seus príncipes, e sobre os seus sábios.

36 A sword on the princes, And they have become foolish; A sword on her mighty ones, And they have been broken down;

A espada virá sobre os paroleiros, e eles ficarão insensatos; a espada virá sobre os seus valentes, e eles desfalecerão.

37 A sword on his horses and on his chariot, And on all the rabble who in her midst, And they have become women; A sword on her treasuries, And they have been spoiled;

A espada virá sobre os seus cavalos, e sobre os seus carros, e sobre todo o povo misto, que se acha no meio dela, e eles se tornarão como mulheres; a espada virá sobre os seus tesouros, e estes serão saqueados.

38 A sword on her waters, and they have been dried up, For it a land of graven images, And in idols they do boast themselves.

Cairá a seca sobre as suas águas, e elas secarão; pois é uma terra de imagens esculpidas, e eles pelos seus ídolos fazem-se loucos.

39 T herefore dwell do Ziim with Iim, Yea, dwelt in her have daughters of the ostrich, And it is not inhabited any more for ever, Nor dwelt in unto all generations.

Por isso feras do deserto juntamente com lobos habitarão ali; também habitarão nela avestruzes; e nunca mais será povoada, nem será habitada de geração em geração.

40 A s overthrown by God with Sodom, And with Gomorrah, and with its neighbours, An affirmation of Jehovah, none doth dwell there, Nor sojourn in her doth a son of man.

Como quando Deus subverteu a Sodoma e a Gomorra, e

41 L o, a people hath come from the north, Even a great nation, And many kings are stirred up from the sides of the earth.

Eis que um povo vem do norte; e uma grande nação e muitos reis se levantam das extremidades da terra.

42 B ow and halbert they seize, Cruel they, and they have no mercy, Their voice as a sea soundeth, and on horses they ride, Set in array as a man for battle, Against thee, O daughter of Babylon.

Armam-se de arco e lança; são cruéis, e não têm piedade; a sua voz brama como o mar, e em cavalos vêm montados, dispostos como homens para a batalha, contra ti, ó filha de Babilônia.

43 H eard hath the king of Babylon their report, And feeble have been his hands, Distress hath seized him; pain as a travailing woman.

O rei de Babilônia ouviu a fama deles, e desfaleceram as suas mãos; a angústia se apoderou dele, dores, como da que está de parto.

44 L o, as a lion he cometh up, Because of the rising of the Jordan, Unto the enduring habitation, But I cause to rest, I cause them to run from off her. And who is chosen? on her I lay a charge, For who like Me? And who doth convene Me? And who this shepherd who standeth before Me?

Eis que como leão subirá das margens do Jordão um inimigo contra a morada forte, mas de repente o farei correr dali; e ao escolhido, pô-lo-ei sobre ela. Pois quem é semelhante a mim? e quem me fixará um prazo? Quem é o pastor que me poderá resistir?

45 T herefore, hear ye the counsel of Jehovah, That He counselled concerning Babylon, And His devices that He hath devised Concerning the land of the Chaldeans; Drag them out do not little ones of the flock, Doth He not make desolate over them the habitation?

Portanto ouvi o conselho que o Senhor decretou contra Babilônia, e o propósito que formou contra a terra dos caldeus: Certamente eles, os pequenos do rebanho, serão arrastados; certamente o aprisco ficará apavorado por causa deles.

46 F rom the voice: Captured was Babylon, Hath the earth been shaken, And a cry among nations hath been heard!

Ao estrondo da tomada de Babilônia estremece a terra; e o grito se ouve entre as nações.
