1 A nd there riseth after Abimelech, to save Israel, Tola son of Puah, son of Dodo, a man of Issachar, and he is dwelling in Shamir, in the hill-country of Ephraim,

Después de Abimelec se levantó Tola para librar a Israel. Tola era hijo de Fúa y nieto de Dodo, de la tribu de Isacar, y vivía en Samir, en los montes de Efraín.

2 a nd he judgeth Israel twenty and three years, and he dieth, and is buried in Shamir.

Y Tola gobernó a Israel durante veintitrés años, y al morir fue sepultado en Samir.

3 A nd there riseth after him Jair the Gileadite, and he judgeth Israel twenty and two years,

Después de él vino Yaír el galaadita, que también acaudilló a Israel durante veintidós años.

4 a nd he hath thirty sons riding on thirty ass-colts, and they have thirty cities, (they call them Havoth-Jair unto this day), which in the land of Gilead;

Yaír tuvo treinta hijos, y cada uno de ellos tenía su propio asno. Tenían también treinta ciudades, conocidas como las ciudades de Yaír, las cuales hasta el día de hoy están en la tierra de Galaad.

5 a nd Jair dieth, and is buried in Kamon.

Al morir Yaír, fue sepultado en Camón. Angustias de los israelitas

6 A nd the sons of Israel add to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and serve the Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Aram, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the Bene-Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsake Jehovah, and have not served Him;

Pero los israelitas volvieron a hacer lo malo a los ojos del Señor, pues se volvieron a la idolatría y sirvieron a Baal y Astarot, y a los dioses de Siria, Sidón, Moab, Amón y Filistea, y se olvidaron de servir al Señor.

7 a nd the anger of Jehovah burneth against Israel, and He selleth them into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the Bene-Ammon,

Y el Señor se enojó mucho contra Israel, y lo dejó caer en manos de los filisteos y de los amonitas,

8 a nd they crush and oppress the sons of Israel in that year -- eighteen years all the sons of Israel are beyond the Jordan, in the land of the Amorite, which in Gilead.

que durante dieciocho años oprimieron y quebrantaron a los israelitas que vivían en Galaad, entre los amorreos, al otro lado del Jordán.

9 A nd the Bene-Ammon pass over the Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim, and Israel hath great distress.

Además, los amonitas cruzaron el Jordán para hacerle la guerra a Judá y a Benjamín, descendientes de Efraín, y otra vez Israel sufrió una gran opresión.

10 A nd the sons of Israel cry unto Jehovah, saying, `We have sinned against Thee, even because we have forsaken our God, and serve the Baalim.'

Entonces los israelitas clamaron al Señor, y le dijeron: «Reconocemos que te hemos ofendido, y que nos hemos apartado de ti, que eres nuestro Dios, por servir a los baales.»

11 A nd Jehovah saith unto the sons of Israel, ` not from the Egyptians, and from the Amorite, from the Bene-Ammon, and from the Philistines?

Y el Señor les respondió: «¿No es verdad que ustedes han sido oprimidos por los egipcios, los amorreos, los amonitas, los filisteos,

12 A nd the Zidonians, and Amalek, and Maon have oppressed you, and ye cry unto Me, and I save you out of their hand;

los sidonios, los amalecitas y los maonitas, pero que cuando han clamado a mí yo los he librado de ellos?

13 a nd ye -- ye have forsaken Me, and serve other gods, therefore I add not to save you.

Pero ustedes me han abandonado por ir a servir a otros dioses. Por eso, no volveré a salvarlos.

14 G o and cry unto the gods on which ye have fixed; they -- they save you in the time of your adversity.'

Vayan y pidan la ayuda de esos dioses que han elegido. Que sean ellos quienes los libren de todas sus aflicciones.»

15 A nd the sons of Israel say unto Jehovah, `We have sinned, do Thou to us according to all that is good in Thine eyes; only deliver us, we pray Thee, this day.'

Y los israelitas le respondieron: «Sí, Señor; reconocemos que te hemos ofendido. Haz con nosotros lo que te parezca mejor. Sólo te rogamos que nos salves esta vez.»

16 A nd they turn aside the gods of the stranger out of their midst, and serve Jehovah, and His soul is grieved with the misery of Israel.

Y los israelitas desecharon todos los dioses ajenos que tenían, y sirvieron al Señor, a quien le dolió ver la aflicción de Israel.

17 A nd the Bene-Ammon are called together, and encamp in Gilead, and the sons of Israel are gathered together, and encamp in Mizpah.

Pero los amonitas se juntaron y acamparon en Galaad; los israelitas, por su parte, acamparon en Mispá.

18 A nd the people -- heads of Gilead -- say one unto another, `Who the man that doth begin to fight against the Bene-Ammon? he is for head to all inhabitants of Gilead.'

Los jefes israelitas y los de Galaad acordaron que el que abriera las hostilidades contra los amonitas sería el caudillo de todos los habitantes de Galaad.
