1 A nd it came to pass thereafter, that he was going through every city and village, preaching and proclaiming good news of the reign of God, and the twelve with him,

Después de esto, Jesús andaba por todas las ciudades y aldeas, y allí proclamaba y anunciaba las buenas noticias del reino de Dios. Lo acompañaban los doce,

2 a nd certain women, who were healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary who is called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone forth,

y también algunas mujeres que habían sido sanadas de espíritus malignos y de enfermedades: María, a la que llamaban Magdalena, y de la que habían sido expulsados siete demonios;

3 a nd Joanna wife of Chuza, steward of Herod, and Susanna, and many others, who were ministering to him from their substance.

Juana, la mujer de Chuza, el intendente de Herodes; Susana, y muchas otras que los atendían con sus propios recursos. Parábola del sembrador

4 A nd a great multitude having gathered, and those who from city and city were coming unto him, he spake by a simile:

De cada ciudad acudía gente para ver a Jesús. Al reunirse una gran multitud, Jesús les relató esta parábola:

5 ` The sower went forth to sow his seed, and in his sowing some indeed fell beside the way, and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the heaven did devour it.

«El sembrador salió a sembrar su semilla. Mientras sembraba, parte de ella cayó junto al camino, y fue pisoteada y las aves del cielo se la comieron.

6 ` And other fell upon the rock, and having sprung up, it did wither, through not having moisture.

Otra parte cayó sobre las piedras, pero al brotar se secó por falta de humedad.

7 ` And other fell amidst the thorns, and the thorns having sprung up with it, did choke it.

Otra parte cayó entre los espinos, pero la ahogaron los espinos que brotaron con ella.

8 ` And other fell upon the good ground, and having sprung up, it made fruit an hundred fold.' These things saying, he was calling, `He having ears to hear -- let him hear.'

Otra parte cayó en buena tierra; y brotó y produjo una cosecha del ciento por uno.» Y levantando la voz, dijo: «El que tenga oídos para oír, que oiga.»

9 A nd his disciples were questioning him, saying, `What may this simile be?'

Sus discípulos le preguntaron: «¿Qué significa esta parábola?»

10 A nd he said, `To you it hath been given to know the secrets of the reign of God, and to the rest in similes; that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.

Y él les respondió: «A ustedes se les concede conocer los misterios del reino de Dios, pero a los otros se les habla en parábolas, para que viendo no vean, y oyendo no entiendan.

11 ` And this is the simile: The seed is the word of God,

La parábola significa lo siguiente: La semilla es la palabra de Dios.

12 a nd those beside the way are those hearing, then cometh the Devil, and taketh up the word from their heart, lest having believed, they may be saved.

Las semillas junto al camino son los que oyen, pero que luego viene el diablo y les quita del corazón la palabra, para que no crean y se salven.

13 ` And those upon the rock: They who, when they may hear, with joy do receive the word, and these have no root, who for a time believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

Las que cayeron sobre las piedras son los que, al oír la palabra, la reciben con gozo, pero como no tienen raíces, creen por algún tiempo, pero al llegar la prueba se apartan.

14 ` And that which fell to the thorns: These are they who have heard, and going forth, through anxieties, and riches, and pleasures of life, are choked, and bear not to completion.

Las que cayeron entre los espinos son los que oyen, pero se alejan y son ahogados por las preocupaciones, las riquezas y los placeres de la vida, y no dan fruto.

15 ` And that in the good ground: These are they, who in an upright and good heart, having heard the word, do retain, and bear fruit in continuance.

Pero la semilla que cayó en buena tierra representa a los que con corazón bueno y recto retienen la palabra oída, y dan una buena cosecha porque permanecen firmes. Nada hay oculto que no se manifieste

16 ` And no one having lighted a lamp doth cover it with a vessel, or under a couch doth put; but upon a lamp-stand he doth put, that those coming in may see the light,

»Nadie que enciende una luz la cubre con un cajón, ni la coloca debajo de la cama. Más bien, la pone en un candelero para que los que entren vean la luz.

17 f or nothing is secret, that shall not become manifest, nor hid, that shall not be known, and become manifest.

Porque no hay nada oculto que no llegue a manifestarse, ni hay nada escondido que no haya de ser conocido y de salir a la luz.

18 ` See, therefore, how ye hear, for whoever may have, there shall be given to him, and whoever may not have, also what he seemeth to have, shall be taken from him.'

Escúchenme bien: a todo el que tiene, se le dará; y al que no tiene, hasta lo que cree tener se le quitará.» La madre y los hermanos de Jesús

19 A nd there came unto him his mother and brethren, and they were not able to get to him because of the multitude,

La madre y los hermanos de Jesús fueron a donde él estaba, pero no podían acercarse a él por causa de la multitud.

20 a nd it was told him, saying, `Thy mother and thy brethren do stand without, wishing to see thee;'

Alguien le dijo: «Tu madre y tus hermanos están allí afuera, y quieren verte.»

21 a nd he answering said unto them, `My mother and my brethren! they are those who the word of God are hearing, and doing.'

Pero él respondió: «Mi madre y mis hermanos son los que oyen la palabra de Dios y la ponen en práctica.» Jesús calma la tempestad

22 A nd it came to pass, on one of the days, that he himself went into a boat with his disciples, and he said unto them, `We may go over to the other side of the lake;' and they set forth,

Un día, Jesús abordó una barca con sus discípulos, y les dijo: «Pasemos al otro lado del lago.» Y así lo hicieron.

23 a nd as they are sailing he fell deeply asleep, and there came down a storm of wind to the lake, and they were filling, and were in peril.

Mientras navegaban, Jesús se quedó dormido. Pero se desencadenó en el lago una tempestad con viento, de tal manera que la barca se inundó y corrían el peligro de naufragar.

24 A nd having come near, they awoke him, saying, `Master, master, we perish;' and he, having arisen, rebuked the wind and the raging of the water, and they ceased, and there came a calm,

Los discípulos despertaron a Jesús y le dijeron: «¡Maestro, Maestro, estamos por naufragar!» Entonces Jesús despertó, reprendió al viento y a las olas, y éstas se sosegaron, y todo quedó en calma.

25 a nd he said to them, `Where is your faith?' and they being afraid did wonder, saying unto one another, `Who, then, is this, that even the winds he doth command, and the water, and they obey him?'

Jesús les dijo: «¿Dónde está la fe de ustedes?» Pero ellos, temorosos y asombrados, se decían unos a otros: «¿Quién es éste, que hasta a los vientos y a las aguas les da órdenes, y lo obedecen?» El endemoniado geraseno

26 A nd they sailed down to the region of the Gadarenes, that is over-against Galilee,

Después arribaron a la tierra de los gerasenos, que está en la ribera opuesta a Galilea.

27 a nd he having gone forth upon the land, there met him a certain man, out of the city, who had demons for a long time, and with a garment was not clothed, and in a house was not abiding, but in the tombs,

Cuando él llegó a tierra, vino a su encuentro un hombre de la ciudad que estaba endemoniado. Hacía mucho tiempo que no se vestía ni vivía en una casa, sino en los sepulcros.

28 a nd having seen Jesus, and having cried out, he fell before him, and with a loud voice, said, `What -- to me and to thee, Jesus, Son of God Most High? I beseech thee, mayest thou not afflict me!'

Cuando el endemoniado vio a Jesús, se arrodilló delante de él, lanzó un fuerte grito, y le dijo: «Jesús, Hijo del Dios Altísimo, ¿qué tienes que ver conmigo? ¡Te ruego que no me atormentes!»

29 F or he commanded the unclean spirit to come forth from the man, for many times it had caught him, and he was being bound with chains and fetters -- guarded, and breaking asunder the bonds he was driven by the demons to the deserts.

(Y es que Jesús le ordenaba al espíritu impuro que saliera del hombre porque hacía mucho tiempo que se había apoderado de él. Aunque lo ataban con cadenas y grilletes, él rompía las cadenas y el demonio lo llevaba a lugares apartados.)

30 A nd Jesus questioned him, saying, `What is thy name?' and he said, `Legion,' (because many demons were entered into him,)

Jesús le preguntó: «¿Cómo te llamas?» Y él respondió: «Legión.» Porque eran muchos los demonios que habían entrado en él,

31 a nd he was calling on him, that he may not command them to go away to the abyss,

y le rogaban a Jesús que no los mandara al abismo.

32 a nd there was there a herd of many swine feeding in the mountain, and they were calling on him, that he might suffer them to enter into these, and he suffered them,

Como allí había un gran hato de cerdos que pacían en el monte, los demonios le rogaron a Jesús que los dejara entrar en ellos; y él les dio permiso.

33 a nd the demons having gone forth from the man, did enter into the swine, and the herd rushed down the steep to the lake, and were choked.

Una vez fuera del hombre, los demonios entraron en los cerdos, y éstos se lanzaron al lago por un despeñadero, y allí se ahogaron.

34 A nd those feeding, having seen what was come to pass, fled, and having gone, told to the city, and to the fields;

Cuando los que apacentaban los cerdos vieron lo sucedido, huyeron y fueron a contar todo esto en la ciudad y por los campos.

35 a nd they came forth to see what was come to pass, and they came unto Jesus, and found the man sitting, out of whom the demons had gone forth, clothed, and right-minded, at the feet of Jesus, and they were afraid;

La gente salió a ver lo que había sucedido. Cuando llegaron a donde estaba Jesús, se encontraron con que el hombre, de quien habían salido los demonios, estaba sentado a los pies de Jesús, vestido y en su cabal juicio. Y tuvieron miedo.

36 a nd those also having seen, told them how the demoniac was saved.

Los que habían visto todo esto, les contaron cómo había sido salvado el endemoniado.

37 A nd the whole multitude of the region of the Gadarenes round about asked him to go away from them, because with great fear they were pressed, and he having entered into the boat, did turn back.

Entonces toda la gente de la región de los gerasenos le rogó a Jesús que se alejara de ellos, pues tenían mucho miedo. Así que Jesús entró en la barca y se fue.

38 A nd the man from whom the demons had gone forth was beseeching of him to be with him, and Jesus sent him away, saying,

El hombre de quien habían salido los demonios le rogaba que lo dejara estar con él, pero Jesús lo despidió y le dijo:

39 ` Turn back to thy house, and tell how great things God did to thee;' and he went away through all the city proclaiming how great things Jesus did to him.

«Vuelve a tu casa, y cuenta allí todo lo que Dios ha hecho contigo.» Entonces el hombre se fue y contó por toda la ciudad lo que Jesús había hecho con él. La hija de Jairo, y la mujer que tocó el manto de Jesús

40 A nd it came to pass, in the turning back of Jesus, the multitude received him, for they were all looking for him,

Cuando Jesús regresó, la multitud lo recibió con alegría, pues todos lo estaban esperando.

41 a nd lo, there came a man, whose name Jairus, and he was a chief of the synagogue, and having fallen at the feet of Jesus, was calling on him to come to his house;

Llegó entonces un hombre llamado Jairo, que era jefe de la sinagoga. Este hombre se arrojó a los pies de Jesús y le rogó que fuera a su casa,

42 b ecause he had an only daughter about twelve years, and she was dying. And in his going away, the multitudes were thronging him,

pues su única hija, que tenía como doce años, se estaba muriendo. Mientras Jesús se dirigía a la casa de Jairo, la multitud lo apretujaba.

43 a nd a woman, having an issue of blood for twelve years, who, having spent on physicians all her living, was not able to be healed by any,

Una mujer, que hacía doce años padecía de hemorragias y había gastado en médicos todo lo que tenía, sin que ninguno hubiera podido curarla,

44 h aving come near behind, touched the fringe of his garment, and presently the issue of her blood stood.

se le acercó por detrás y le tocó el borde del manto. Al instante, su hemorragia se detuvo.

45 A nd Jesus said, `Who it that touched me?' and all denying, Peter and those with him said, `Master, the multitudes press thee, and throng, and thou dost say, Who it that touched me!'

Entonces Jesús dijo: «¿Quién me ha tocado?» Todos negaban haberlo tocado, así que Pedro y los que estaban con él le dijeron: «Maestro, son muchos los que te aprietan y te oprimen.»

46 A nd Jesus said, `Some one did touch me, for I knew power having gone forth from me.'

Pero Jesús dijo: «Alguien me ha tocado. Yo sé bien que de mí ha salido poder.»

47 A nd the woman, having seen that she was not hid, trembling, came, and having fallen before him, for what cause she touched him declared to him before all the people, and how she was healed presently;

Cuando la mujer se vio descubierta, se acercó temblorosa y se arrojó a los pies de Jesús, y delante de todo el pueblo le contó por qué lo había tocado, y cómo al instante había sido sanada.

48 a nd he said to her, `Take courage, daughter, thy faith hath saved thee, be going on to peace.'

Entonces Jesús le dijo: «Hija, tu fe te ha sanado. Ve en paz.»

49 W hile he is yet speaking, there doth come a certain one from the chief of the synagogue's, saying to him -- `Thy daughter hath died, harass not the Teacher;'

Mientras Jesús hablaba, alguien de la casa del jefe de la sinagoga llegó a decirle: «Tu hija ha muerto. No molestes más al Maestro.»

50 a nd Jesus having heard, answered him, saying, `Be not afraid, only believe, and she shall be saved.'

Cuando Jesús oyó ésto, le dijo: «No temas. Sólo debes creer, y tu hija será sanada.»

51 A nd having come to the house, he suffered no one to go in, except Peter, and James, and John, and the father of the child, and the mother;

Jesús entró en la casa y no dejó que nadie entrara con él, excepto Pedro, Jacobo y Juan, y los padres de la niña.

52 a nd they were all weeping, and beating themselves for her, and he said, `Weep not, she did not die, but doth sleep;

Todos estaban llorando y se lamentaban por ella. Pero él les dijo: «No lloren, que no está muerta, sino dormida.»

53 a nd they were deriding him, knowing that she did die;

La gente se burlaba de él, pues sabían que la niña estaba muerta;

54 a nd he having put all forth without, and having taken hold of her hand, called, saying, `Child, arise;'

pero él la tomó de la mano, y con fuerte voz le dijo: «Niña, ¡levántate!»

55 a nd her spirit came back, and she arose presently, and he directed that there be given to her to eat;

La niña volvió a la vida, y enseguida se levantó, y Jesús mandó que le dieran de comer.

56 a nd her parents were amazed, but he charged them to say to no one what was come to pass.

Sus padres estaban atónitos, pero Jesús les mandó que no dijeran a nadie lo que había sucedido.
