1 A Prayer of the afflicted when he is feeble, and before Jehovah poureth out his plaint. O Jehovah, hear my prayer, yea, my cry to Thee cometh.

Señor, escucha mi oración; ¡deja que mi queja llegue a tus oídos!

2 H ide not Thou Thy face from me, In a day of mine adversity, Incline unto me Thine ear, In the day I call, haste, answer me.

No te alejes de mí cuando me veas angustiado; inclina a mí tu oído, ¡respóndeme pronto cuando te invoque!

3 F or consumed in smoke have been my days, And my bones as a fire-brand have burned.

Mi vida se va desvaneciendo, como el humo; mis huesos se deshacen, como tizón quemado.

4 S mitten as the herb, and withered, is my heart, For I have forgotten to eat my bread.

Débil está mi corazón, y seco cual la hierba; ¡hasta me he olvidado de comer!

5 F rom the voice of my sighing Hath my bone cleaved to my flesh.

Tanto he llorado que los huesos se me pegan a la carne.

6 I have been like to a pelican of the wilderness, I have been as an owl of the dry places.

Soy como los pelícanos del desierto; ¡soy como los búhos de las soledades!

7 I have watched, and I am As a bird alone on the roof.

Ya no duermo, y hasta me siento como un pájaro solitario sobre el tejado.

8 A ll the day mine enemies reproached me, Those mad at me have sworn against me.

Todos los días me insultan mis enemigos; se confabulan y hacen planes contra mí.

9 B ecause ashes as bread I have eaten, And my drink with weeping have mingled,

El pan que como, me sabe a ceniza; lo que bebo, se mezcla con mis lágrimas.

10 F rom Thine indignation and Thy wrath, For Thou hast lifted me up, And dost cast me down.

¡Y es porque estás enojado conmigo! ¡Primero me elevas, y luego me dejas caer!

11 M y days as a shadow stretched out, And I -- as the herb I am withered.

Mi vida se diluye como una sombra; ¡me voy secando como la hierba!

12 A nd Thou, O Jehovah, to the age abidest, And Thy memorial to all generations.

Pero tú, Señor, permaneces para siempre, y todas las generaciones te recordarán.

13 T hou -- Thou risest -- Thou pitiest Zion, For the time to favour her, For the appointed time hath come.

Te levantarás y tendrás misericordia de Sión, porque ya se ha cumplido su tiempo; ¡ya es hora de que le tengas misericordia!

14 F or Thy servants have been pleased with her stones, And her dust they favour.

Tus siervos aman cada una de sus piedras; ven sus ruinas, y se compadecen de ella.

15 A nd nations fear the name of Jehovah, And all kings of the earth Thine honour,

Señor, las naciones honrarán tu nombre; los reyes de la tierra reconocerán tu gloria,

16 F or Jehovah hath builded Zion, He hath been seen in His honour,

porque tú, Señor, reconstruirás a Sión, y en su esplendor serás reconocido.

17 H e turned unto the prayer of the destitute, And He hath not despised their prayer.

Tendrás en cuenta la oración de los pobres, y no dejarás de escuchar sus ruegos.

18 T his is written for a later generation, And the people created do praise Jah.

Esto, Señor, quedará escrito para los pueblos futuros, ¡para que las generaciones del mañana te alaben!

19 F or He hath looked From the high place of His sanctuary. Jehovah from heaven unto earth looked attentively,

Desde su alto santuario, el Señor observa; desde los cielos, el Señor contempla la tierra

20 T o hear the groan of the prisoner, To loose sons of death,

para oír el clamor de los cautivos y dar libertad a los sentenciados a muerte;

21 T o declare in Zion the name of Jehovah, And His praise in Jerusalem,

para que en Sión se anuncie el nombre del Señor, ¡para que en Jerusalén se proclame su alabanza!

22 I n the peoples being gathered together, And the kingdoms -- to serve Jehovah.

Entonces todas las naciones y todos los reinos vendrán y se unirán para servir al Señor.

23 H e hath humbled in the way my power, He hath shortened my days.

En mi camino, el Señor me retiró su apoyo; ¡me recortó los días de mi vida!

24 I say, `My God, take me not up in the midst of my days,' Through all generations Thine years.

Pero yo le supliqué: «Dios mío, tú vives por todas las generaciones: ¡no me reduzcas la mitad de mi vida!

25 B eforetime the earth Thou didst found, And the work of Thy hands the heavens.

Tú fundaste la tierra desde el principio, y con tus propias manos formaste los cielos.

26 T hey -- They perish, and Thou remainest, And all of them as a garment become old, As clothing Thou changest them, And they are changed.

Un día, ellos serán destruidos; envejecerán, como vestidos usados, y tú los cambiarás por otros; ¡Pero tú permanecerás!

27 A nd Thou the same, and Thine years are not finished.

¡Tú seguirás siendo el mismo, y tus años nunca tendrán fin!

28 T he sons of Thy servants do continue, And their seed before Thee is established!

Los hijos de tus siervos vivirán tranquilos, y sus descendientes se afirmarán en tu presencia.
