1 ` At that time hath Jehovah said unto me, Grave for thee two tables of stone, like the first, and come up unto Me, into the mount, and thou hast made for thee an ark of wood,

»En aquel tiempo el Señor me dijo: “Lábrate dos tablas de piedra, como las primeras, y haz un cofre de madera para ellas. Sube luego al monte para encontrarte conmigo.

2 a nd I write on the tables the words which were on the first tables, which thou hast broken, and thou hast placed them in the ark;

Yo escribiré en esas tablas las palabras que estaban en las tablas que quebraste, las primeras; y luego tú las pondrás en el cofre.”

3 a nd I make an ark of shittim wood, and grave two tables of stone like the first, and go up to the mount, and the two tables in my hand.

Yo hice un cofre de madera de acacia, y labré dos tablas de piedra, como las primeras, y con las dos tablas en la mano subí al monte.

4 ` And He writeth on the tables, according to the first writing, the Ten Matters, which Jehovah hath spoken unto you in the mount, out of the midst of the fire, in the day of the assembly, and Jehovah giveth them unto me,

Y el Señor escribió en las tablas los diez mandamientos que les había dado en el monte, de en medio del fuego, el día de la asamblea. El Señor me dio las tablas, y su escritura era acorde con la primera.

5 a nd I turn and come down from the mount, and put the tables in the ark which I had made, and they are there, as Jehovah commanded me.

Cuando bajé del monte y volví, puse las tablas en el cofre que había hecho, y allí están, tal y como el Señor me lo ordenó.

6 ` And the sons of Israel have journeyed from Beeroth of the sons of Jaakan to Mosera, there Aaron died, and he is buried there, and Eleazar his son doth act as priest in his stead;

(Después los hijos de Israel partieron de Berot Bené Yacán a Mosera. Allí murió Aarón, y allí también fue sepultado, y en su lugar recibió el sacerdocio su hijo Eleazar.

7 t hence they journeyed to Gudgodah, and from Gudgodah to Jotbathah, a land of brooks of water.

De allí partieron a Gudgoda, y de Gudgoda a Jotbata, región que tiene arroyos.

8 ` At that time hath Jehovah separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, to stand before Jehovah, to serve Him, and to bless in His name, unto this day,

En aquel tiempo el Señor apartó la tribu de Leví para que llevara el arca del pacto y para que estuvieran a su servicio, para honrarlo y para impartir bendiciones en su nombre, hasta el día de hoy.

9 t herefore there hath not been to Levi a portion and inheritance with his brethren; Jehovah Himself his inheritance, as Jehovah thy God hath spoken to him.

Por eso Leví no recibió ningún terreno en propiedad, como lo recibieron sus hermanos, pues el Señor tu Dios es su herencia, como él mismo lo dijo.)

10 ` And I -- I have stood in the mount, as the former days, forty days and forty nights, and Jehovah hearkeneth unto me also at that time; Jehovah hath not willed to destroy thee.

»Yo estuve en el monte cuarenta días y cuarenta noches, como la primera vez; y esta vez el Señor también me escuchó, y ya no quiso destruirte.

11 ` And Jehovah saith unto me, Rise, go to journey before the people, and they go in and possess the land which I have sworn to their fathers to give to them.

Al contrario, el Señor me dijo: “Anda, levántate y marcha al frente del pueblo, para que pasen a tomar posesión de la tierra que a sus padres juré que les daría.” Lo que Dios exige

12 ` And now, Israel, what is Jehovah thy God asking from thee, except to fear Jehovah thy God, to walk in all His ways, and to love Him, and to serve Jehovah thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul,

»Y ahora, Israel, ¿qué es lo que el Señor tu Dios pide de ti? Solamente que temas al Señor tu Dios, que vayas por todos sus caminos, y que ames y sirvas al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma;

13 t o keep the commands of Jehovah, and His statutes which I am commanding thee to-day, for good to thee?

que cumplas sus mandamientos y estatutos, los cuales hoy te ordeno cumplir, para que tengas prosperidad.

14 ` Lo, to Jehovah thy God the heavens and the heavens of the heavens, the earth and all that in it;

Fíjate bien: Los cielos, y los cielos de los cielos, y la tierra, y todas las cosas que hay en ella, son del Señor tu Dios.

15 o nly in thy fathers hath Jehovah delighted -- to love them, and He doth fix on their seed after them -- on you, out of all the peoples as this day;

Solamente de tus padres se agradó el Señor, y los amó, y de entre todos los pueblos escogió a su descendencia después de ellos, es decir, a ustedes, como hoy pueden verlo.

16 a nd ye have circumcised the foreskin of your heart, and your neck ye do not harden any more;

Así que circunciden el prepucio de su corazón, y no sigan siendo obstinados,

17 f or Jehovah your God -- He God of the gods, and Lord of the lords; God, the great, the mighty, and the fearful; who accepteth not persons, nor taketh a bribe;

porque el Señor su Dios es Dios de dioses y Señor de señores; es Dios grande, poderoso y temible, que no hace acepción de personas ni acepta sobornos;

18 H e is doing the judgment of fatherless and widow, and loving the sojourner, to give to him bread and raiment.

que hace justicia al huérfano y a la viuda, y que ama también al extranjero y le da pan y vestido.

19 ` And ye have loved the sojourner, for sojourners ye were in the land of Egypt.

Así que ustedes deben amar a los extranjeros, porque ustedes fueron extranjeros en Egipto.

20 ` Jehovah thy God thou dost fear, Him thou dost serve, and to Him thou dost cleave, and by His name thou dost swear.

»Al Señor tu Dios temerás, y sólo a él servirás, y a él seguirás, y por su nombre jurarás.

21 H e thy praise, and He thy God, who hath done with thee these great and fearful which thine eyes have seen:

Él es el objeto de tu alabanza; él es tu Dios, que ha hecho contigo todas estas cosas grandes y terribles, que con tus propios ojos has visto.

22 w ith seventy persons did thy fathers go down to Egypt, and now hath Jehovah thy God made thee as stars of the heavens for multitude.

Cuando tus padres emigraron a Egipto, eran sólo setenta personas. Pero ahora el Señor ha hecho de ti un pueblo tan numeroso como las estrellas del cielo.
