1 ` At that time hath Jehovah said unto me, Grave for thee two tables of stone, like the first, and come up unto Me, into the mount, and thou hast made for thee an ark of wood,

«In quel tempo, l'Eterno mi disse: "Tagliati due tavole di pietra simili alle prime e sali da me sul monte; fatti anche un'arca di legno.

2 a nd I write on the tables the words which were on the first tables, which thou hast broken, and thou hast placed them in the ark;

Io scriverò sulle tavole le parole che erano sulle prime tavole che tu spezzasti, e tu le metterai nell'arca".

3 a nd I make an ark of shittim wood, and grave two tables of stone like the first, and go up to the mount, and the two tables in my hand.

Così feci un'arca di legno d'acacia e tagliai due tavole di pietra simili alle prime; poi salii sul monte con le due tavole in mano.

4 ` And He writeth on the tables, according to the first writing, the Ten Matters, which Jehovah hath spoken unto you in the mount, out of the midst of the fire, in the day of the assembly, and Jehovah giveth them unto me,

E l'Eterno scrisse sulle tavole ciò che aveva scritto la prima volta, cioè i dieci comandamenti che l'Eterno aveva proclamato per voi sul monte, di mezzo al fuoco, il giorno dell'assemblea. Quindi l'Eterno me le consegnò.

5 a nd I turn and come down from the mount, and put the tables in the ark which I had made, and they are there, as Jehovah commanded me.

Allora mi voltai e discesi dal monte; misi le tavole nell'arca che avevo fatto; e là esse rimangono, come l'Eterno mi aveva ordinato.

6 ` And the sons of Israel have journeyed from Beeroth of the sons of Jaakan to Mosera, there Aaron died, and he is buried there, and Eleazar his son doth act as priest in his stead;

(Ora i figli d'Israele partirono dai pozzi dei figli di Jakaan per Moserah. Là Aaronne mori e là fu sepolto; ed Eleazar, suo figlio, divenne sacerdote al suo posto.

7 t hence they journeyed to Gudgodah, and from Gudgodah to Jotbathah, a land of brooks of water.

Di là partirono alla volta di Gudgo-dah e da Gudgo-dah alla volta di Jotbathah, paese di corsi d'acqua.

8 ` At that time hath Jehovah separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, to stand before Jehovah, to serve Him, and to bless in His name, unto this day,

In quel tempo l'Eterno separò la tribú di Levi per portare l'arca del patto dell'Eterno, per stare davanti all'Eterno e servirlo, e per benedire nel suo nome fino al giorno d'oggi.

9 t herefore there hath not been to Levi a portion and inheritance with his brethren; Jehovah Himself his inheritance, as Jehovah thy God hath spoken to him.

Perciò Levi non ha parte né eredità con i suoi fratelli; l'Eterno è la sua eredità, come l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, gli aveva promesso.).

10 ` And I -- I have stood in the mount, as the former days, forty days and forty nights, and Jehovah hearkeneth unto me also at that time; Jehovah hath not willed to destroy thee.

Io rimasi sul monte, come la prima volta, quaranta giorni e quaranta notti; l'Eterno mi ascoltò anche questa volta, e l'Eterno acconsentì a non distruggerti.

11 ` And Jehovah saith unto me, Rise, go to journey before the people, and they go in and possess the land which I have sworn to their fathers to give to them.

Allora l'Eterno mi disse: "Levati, mettiti in cammino alla testa del popolo, perché essi entrino ad occupare il paese che giurai ai loro padri di dar loro".

12 ` And now, Israel, what is Jehovah thy God asking from thee, except to fear Jehovah thy God, to walk in all His ways, and to love Him, and to serve Jehovah thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul,

E ora, o Israele, che cosa richiede da te l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, se non di temere l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, di camminare in tutte le sue vie, di amarlo e di servire l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, con tutto il tuo cuore e con tutta la tua anima,

13 t o keep the commands of Jehovah, and His statutes which I am commanding thee to-day, for good to thee?

e di osservare per il tuo bene i comandamenti dell'Eterno e i suoi statuti che oggi ti comando?

14 ` Lo, to Jehovah thy God the heavens and the heavens of the heavens, the earth and all that in it;

Ecco, all'Eterno, il tuo DIO, appartengono cieli, i cieli dei cieli, la terra e tutto quanto essa contiene;

15 o nly in thy fathers hath Jehovah delighted -- to love them, and He doth fix on their seed after them -- on you, out of all the peoples as this day;

ma l'Eterno pose il suo diletto unicamente nei tuoi padri e li amò; e dopo di loro fra tutti i popoli scelse la loro discendenza, cioè voi, com'è oggi.

16 a nd ye have circumcised the foreskin of your heart, and your neck ye do not harden any more;

Circonciderete perciò il prepuzio del vostro cuore e non indurite piú il vostro collo;

17 f or Jehovah your God -- He God of the gods, and Lord of the lords; God, the great, the mighty, and the fearful; who accepteth not persons, nor taketh a bribe;

poiché l'Eterno, il vostro DIO è il DIO degli dèi, il Signor dei signori, il Dio grande, forte e tremendo, che non usa alcuna parzialità e non accetta regali,

18 H e is doing the judgment of fatherless and widow, and loving the sojourner, to give to him bread and raiment.

che fa giustizia all'orfano e alla vedova, che ama lo straniero dandogli pane e vestito.

19 ` And ye have loved the sojourner, for sojourners ye were in the land of Egypt.

Amate dunque lo straniero, perché anche voi foste stranieri nel paese d'Egitto.

20 ` Jehovah thy God thou dost fear, Him thou dost serve, and to Him thou dost cleave, and by His name thou dost swear.

Temerai l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, a lui servirai, rimarrai stretto a lui e giurerai nel suo nome.

21 H e thy praise, and He thy God, who hath done with thee these great and fearful which thine eyes have seen:

Egli è la tua lode, egli è il tuo DIO, che ha fatto per te queste cose grandi e tremende che i tuoi occhi hanno visto.

22 w ith seventy persons did thy fathers go down to Egypt, and now hath Jehovah thy God made thee as stars of the heavens for multitude.

I tuoi padri scesero in Egitto in numero di settanta persone; e ora l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, ti ha reso numeroso come le stelle del cielo.
