1 A nd Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, turned back from the Jordan, and was brought in the Spirit to the wilderness,

Or Gesú, ripieno di Spirito Santo, ritornò dal Giordano e fu condotto dallo Spirito nel deserto,

2 f orty days being tempted by the Devil, and he did not eat anything in those days, and they having been ended, he afterward hungered,

e per quaranta giorni fu tentato dal diavolo; durante quei giorni non mangiò nulla; ma quando furono trascorsi, egli ebbe fame.

3 a nd the Devil said to him, `If Son thou art of God, speak to this stone that it may become bread.'

E il diavolo gli disse: «Se tu sei il Figlio di Dio, di' a questa pietra che diventi pane».

4 A nd Jesus answered him, saying, `It hath been written, that, not on bread only shall man live, but on every saying of God.'

Ma Gesú gli rispose, dicendo: «Sta scritto: "L'uomo non vivrà soltanto di pane, ma di ogni parola di Dio.

5 A nd the Devil having brought him up to an high mountain, shewed to him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time,

Poi il diavolo lo condusse su di un alto monte e gli mostrò in un attimo tutti i regni del mondo.

6 a nd the Devil said to him, `To thee I will give all this authority, and their glory, because to me it hath been delivered, and to whomsoever I will, I do give it;

E il diavolo gli disse: «Io ti darò tutto il potere di questi regni e la loro gloria, perché essa mi è stata data nelle mani e io la do a chi voglio.

7 t hou, then, if thou mayest bow before me -- all shall be thine.'

Se dunque tu prostrandoti mi adori, sarà tutta tua».

8 A nd Jesus answering him said, `Get thee behind me, Adversary, for it hath been written, Thou shalt bow before the Lord thy God, and Him only thou shalt serve.'

Ma Gesú, rispondendo, gli disse: «Vattene via da me, Satana. Sta scritto: "Adora il Signore Dio tuo e servi a lui solo"».

9 A nd he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, `If the Son thou art of God, cast thyself down hence,

Poi lo condusse a Gerusalemme lo pose sull'orlo del tempio e gli disse: «"Se tu sei il Figlio di Dio, gettati giú di qui;

10 f or it hath been written -- To His messengers He will give charge concerning thee, to guard over thee,

perché sta scritto: "Egli comanderà ai suoi angeli attorno a te di custodirti.

11 a nd -- On hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou mayest dash against a stone thy foot.'

Ed essi ti sosterranno con le loro mani, affinché il tuo piede non urti contro alcuna pietra"».

12 A nd Jesus answering said to him -- `It hath been said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.'

E Gesú, rispondendo, gli disse: «E' stato detto: "Non tentare il Signore Dio tuo".».

13 A nd having ended all temptation, the Devil departed from him till a convenient season.

E, quando il diavolo ebbe finito ogni tentazione, si allontanò da lui, fino ad un certo tempo.

14 A nd Jesus turned back in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and a fame went forth through all the region round about concerning him,

E Gesú, nella potenza dello Spirito se ne ritornò in Galilea e la sua fama si sparse per tutta la regione all'intorno.

15 a nd he was teaching in their synagogues, being glorified by all.

Ed egli insegnava nelle loro sinagoghe, essendo onorato da tutti.

16 A nd he came to Nazareth, where he hath been brought up, and he went in, according to his custom, on the sabbath-day, to the synagogue, and stood up to read;

Poi venne a Nazaret, dove era cresciuto e, com'era solito fare in giorno di sabato, entrò nella sinagoga e si alzò per leggere.

17 a nd there was given over to him a roll of Isaiah the prophet, and having unfolded the roll, he found the place where it hath been written:

E gli fu dato in mano il libro del profeta Isaia; lo aprí e trovò quel passo dove era scritto:

18 ` The Spirit of the Lord upon me, Because He did anoint me; To proclaim good news to the poor, Sent me to heal the broken of heart, To proclaim to captives deliverance, And to blind receiving of sight, To send away the bruised with deliverance,

«Lo Spirito del Signore è sopra di me, perché mi ha unto per evangelizzare i poveri; mi ha mandato per guarire quelli che hanno il cuore rotto, per proclamare la liberazione ai prigionieri e il recupero della vista ai ciechi, per rimettere in libertà gli oppressi,

19 T o proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.'

e per predicare l'anno accettevole del Signore».

20 A nd having folded the roll, having given back to the officer, he sat down, and the eyes of all in the synagogue were gazing on him.

Poi, chiuso il libro e resolo all'inserviente, si pose a sedere; e gli occhi di tutti nella sinagoga erano fissi su di lui.

21 A nd he began to say unto them -- `To-day hath this writing been fulfilled in your ears;'

Allora cominciò a dir loro: «Oggi questa Scrittura si è adempiuta nei vostri orecchi».

22 a nd all were bearing testimony to him, and were wondering at the gracious words that are coming forth out of his mouth, and they said, `Is not this the son of Joseph?'

E tutti gli rendevano testimonianza e si meravigliavano delle parole di grazia che uscivano dalla sua bocca, e dicevano: «Non è costui il figlio di Giuseppe?».

23 A nd he said unto them, `Certainly ye will say to me this simile, Physician, heal thyself; as great things as we heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country;'

Ed egli disse loro: «Certamente voi mi citerete questo proverbio: "Medico, cura te stesso" tutto ciò che abbiamo udito essere avvenuto a Capernaum, fallo anche qui nella tua patria».

24 a nd he said, `Verily I say to you -- No prophet is accepted in his own country;

Ma egli disse: «In verità vi dico che nessun profeta è ben accetto nella sua patria,

25 a nd of a truth I say to you, Many widows were in the days of Elijah, in Israel, when the heaven was shut for three years and six months, when great famine came on all the land,

Vi dico in verità che al tempo di Elia, quando il cielo fu serrato tre anni e sei mesi e vi fu una grande fame in tutto il paese, vi erano molte vedove in Israele;

26 a nd unto none of them was Elijah sent, but -- to Sarepta of Sidon, unto a woman, a widow;

eppure a nessuna di loro fu mandato Elia, se non a una donna vedova in Sarepta di Sidone.

27 a nd many lepers were in the time of Elisha the prophet, in Israel, and none of them was cleansed, but -- Naaman the Syrian.'

E al tempo del profeta Eliseo vi erano molti lebbrosi in Israele; eppure nessuno di loro fu mondato, eccetto Naaman il Siro».

28 A nd all in the synagogue were filled with wrath, hearing these things,

Nell'udire queste cose, tutti nella sinagoga furono presi dall'ira.

29 a nd having risen, they put him forth without the city, and brought him unto the brow of the hill on which their city had been built -- to cast him down headlong,

E, levatisi, lo cacciarono dalla città e lo condussero fino al ciglio della sommità del monte, su cui la loro città era edificata, per precipitarlo giú.

30 a nd he, having gone through the midst of them, went away.

Ma egli, passando in mezzo a loro, se ne andò,

31 A nd he came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and was teaching them on the sabbaths,

Poi discese a Capernaum, città della Galilea, e nei giorni di sabato insegnava alla gente.

32 a nd they were astonished at his teaching, because his word was with authority.

Ed essi stupivano del suo insegnamento, perché la sua parola era con autorità.

33 A nd in the synagogue was a man, having a spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a great voice,

Or nella sinagoga c'era un uomo posseduto da uno spirito di un demone immondo, che si mise a gridare a gran voce,

34 s aying, `Away, what -- to us and to thee, Jesus, O Nazarene? thou didst come to destroy us; I have known thee who thou art -- the Holy One of God.'

dicendo: «Ah, che vi è fra noi e te, o Gesú Nazareno? Sei tu venuto per distruggerci? Io so chi tu sei: Il Santo di Dio!».

35 A nd Jesus did rebuke him, saying, `Be silenced, and come forth out of him;' and the demon having cast him into the midst, came forth from him, having hurt him nought;

Ma Gesú lo sgridò, dicendo: «Ammutolisci ed esci da costui!». E il demone, dopo averlo gettato in mezzo a loro uscí da lui senza fargli alcun male.

36 a nd amazement came upon all, and they were speaking together, with one another, saying, `What this word, that with authority and power he doth command the unclean spirits, and they come forth?'

Allora tutti furono presi da stupore e si dicevano l'un l'altro: «Che parola è mai questa? Egli comanda con autorità e potenza agli spiriti immondi, e questi escono».

37 a nd there was going forth a fame concerning him to every place of the region round about.

E la fama di lui si diffondeva in ogni luogo della regione all'intorno.

38 A nd having risen out of the synagogue, he entered into the house of Simon, and the mother-in-law of Simon was pressed with a great fever, and they did ask him about her,

Uscito poi dalla sinagoga, Gesú entrò in casa di Simone. Or la suocera di Simone era stata colpita da una grande febbre; e gli fecero richiesta per lei.

39 a nd having stood over her, he rebuked the fever, and it left her, and presently, having risen, she was ministering to them.

Ed egli, chinatosi su di lei, sgridò la febbre e questa la lasciò; ed ella, alzatasi prontamente, si mise a servirli.

40 A nd at the setting of the sun, all, as many as had any ailing with manifold sicknesses, brought them unto him, and he on each one of them hands having put, did heal them.

Al tramontar del sole, tutti coloro che avevano degli infermi colpiti da varie malattie li condussero da lui; ed egli, imposte le mani su ciascuno di loro, li guarí.

41 A nd demons also were coming forth from many, crying out and saying -- `Thou art the Christ, the Son of God;' and rebuking, he did not suffer them to speak, because they knew him to be the Christ.

Da molti uscivano i demoni, gridando e dicendo: «Tu sei il Cristo, il Figlio di Dio». Ma egli li sgridava e non permetteva loro di parlare, perché sapevano che egli era il Cristo.

42 A nd day having come, having gone forth, he went on to a desert place, and the multitudes were seeking him, and they came unto him, and were staying him -- not to go on from them,

Poi, fattosi giorno, egli uscí e andò in un luogo deserto. Ma le folle lo cercavano e lo raggiunsero; e lo trattenevano perché non andasse via da loro.

43 a nd he said unto them -- `Also to the other cities it behoveth me to proclaim good news of the reign of God, because for this I have been sent;'

Ma egli disse loro: «Bisogna che io annunzi la buona novella del regno di Dio anche alle altre città, perché sono stato mandato per questo».

44 a nd he was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.

E andava predicando nelle sinagoghe della Galilea.
