1 A nd it cometh to pass, in that year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, in the fifth month, spoken unto me hath Hananiah son of Azur the prophet, who of Gibeon, in the house of Jehovah, before the eyes of the priests, and all the people, saying,

En el quinto mes de ese mismo año, es decir, del año cuarto, al principio del reinado de Sedequías rey de Judá, el profeta Jananías hijo de Azur, que era de Gabaón, habló con Jeremías en la casa del Señor, delante de los sacerdotes y de todo el pueblo. Le dijo:

2 ` Thus spake Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, saying, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon;

«Así ha dicho el Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: “Voy a hacer pedazos el yugo del rey de Babilonia,

3 W ithin two years of days I am bringing back unto this place all the vessels of the house of Jehovah that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon hath taken from this place, and doth carry to Babylon,

y dentro de dos años haré que vuelvan a este lugar todos los utensilios que Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia tomó de mi casa y se llevó a Babilonia.

4 A nd Jeconiah son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and all the removed of Judah, who are entering Babylon, I am bringing back unto this place -- an affirmation of Jehovah; for I do break the yoke of the king of Babylon.'

Yo haré que vuelvan a este lugar Jeconías hijo de Joacín, rey de Judá, y todos los de Judá que fueron llevados a Babilonia, porque voy a hacer pedazos el yugo del rey de Babilonia.”» —Palabra del Señor.

5 A nd Jeremiah the prophet saith unto Hananiah the prophet, before the eyes of the priests, and before the eyes of all the people who are standing in the house of Jehovah,

El profeta Jeremías le respondió al profeta Jananías, también delante de los sacerdotes y de todo el pueblo que estaba reunido en la casa del Señor.

6 Y ea, Jeremiah the prophet saith, `Amen! so may Jehovah do; Jehovah establish thy words that thou hast prophesied, to bring back the vessels of the house of Jehovah and all the removal from Babylon, unto this place.

Le dijo: «Así sea. Que así lo haga el Señor y confirme tu profecía, de que los utensilios de la casa del Señor, y todos los que fueron llevados a Babilonia, volverán a este lugar.

7 ` Only, hear, I pray thee, this word that I am speaking in thine ears, and in the ears of all the people.

Sin embargo, escucha lo que voy a decirte, a ti en primer lugar, y también a todo el pueblo:

8 T he prophets who have been before me, and before thee, from of old, even they prophesy concerning many lands, and concerning great kingdoms, of battle, and of evil, and of pestilence.

Los profetas que nos antecedieron a ti y a mí, anunciaron guerras, aflicción y peste contra muchos países y contra grandes reinos.

9 T he prophet who doth prophesy of peace -- by the coming in of the word of the prophet, known is the prophet that Jehovah hath truly sent him.'

Si el profeta anuncia paz, y sus palabras se cumplen, entonces se le reconoce como un profeta verdadero, enviado por el Señor.»

10 A nd Hananiah the prophet taketh the yoke from off the neck of Jeremiah the prophet, and breaketh it,

Entonces el profeta Jananías le quitó al profeta Jeremías el yugo que éste llevaba en el cuello, lo hizo pedazos,

11 A nd Hananiah speaketh before the eyes of all the people, saying, `Thus said Jehovah, Thus I break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, within two years of days, from off the neck of all the nations;' and Jeremiah the prophet goeth on his way.

y en presencia de todo el pueblo dijo: «Así ha dicho el Señor: Así también, dentro de dos años haré pedazos el yugo que Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, ha puesto en el cuello de todas las naciones.» Jeremías, por su parte, siguió su camino.

12 A nd there is a word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah after the breaking, by Hananiah the prophet, of the yoke from off the neck of Jeremiah the prophet, saying,

Pero después de que el profeta Jananías hizo pedazos el yugo que el profeta Jeremías llevaba al cuello, la palabra del Señor vino a Jeremías, y le dijo:

13 ` Go, and thou hast spoken unto Hananiah, saying, Thus said Jehovah, Yokes of wood thou hast broken, and I have made instead of them yokes of iron;

«Ve y habla con Jananías, y dile que yo, el Señor, digo: “Tú has hecho pedazos yugos de madera, pero yo voy a reponerlos con yugos de hierro.”

14 F or thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, A yoke of iron I have put on the neck of all these nations to serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and they have served him, and also the beast of the field I have given to him.'

Yo, el Señor de los ejércitos y Dios de Israel, digo: “Voy a poner sobre el cuello de todas estas naciones un yugo de hierro, para que sirvan a Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia. Y van a servirle. ¡Hasta a los animales salvajes los he puesto en sus manos!”»

15 A nd Jeremiah the prophet saith unto Hananiah the prophet, `Hear, I pray thee, O Hananiah; Jehovah hath not sent thee, and thou hast caused this people to trust on falsehood.

Entonces el profeta Jeremías le dijo al profeta Jananías: «Escucha bien, Jananías: Tú has llevado a este pueblo a confiar en tus mentiras, aunque el Señor no te ha enviado.

16 T herefore thus said Jehovah, Lo, I am casting thee from off the face of the ground; this year thou diest, for apostacy thou hast spoken concerning Jehovah.'

Por lo tanto, así ha dicho el Señor: “Voy a borrarte de la faz de la tierra, y este mismo año morirás, pues has llevado al pueblo a rebelarse contra mí.”»

17 A nd Hananiah the prophet dieth in that year, in the seventh month.

Y en el mes séptimo de ese mismo año murió Jananías.
