1 I n the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, hath this word been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying,

La începutul domniei lui Ioiachim, fiul lui Iosia, împăratul lui Iuda, a fost rostit către Ieremia din partea Domnului, următorul cuvînt:

2 ` Thus said Jehovah unto me, Make to thee bands and yokes,

Aşa mi -a vorbit Domnul:, Fă-ţi nişte legături şi nişte juguri, şi puneţi-le la gît.

3 A nd thou hast put them on thy neck, and hast sent them unto the king of Edom, and unto the king of Moab, and unto the king of the sons of Ammon, and unto the king of Tyre, and unto the king of Zidon, by the hand of messengers who are coming in to Jerusalem, unto Zedekiah king of Judah;

Trimete-le împăratului Edomului, împăratului Moabului, împăratului copiilor lui Amon, împăratului Tirului şi împăratului Sidonului, prin trimeşii cari au venit la Ierusalim la Zedechia, împăratul lui Iuda.

4 A nd thou hast commanded them for their lords, saying, Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel,

Şi spune-le să spună stăpînilor lor:, Aşa vorbeşte Domnul oştirilor, împăratul lui Israel:, Iatăce să spuneţi stăpînilor voştri:

5 T hus do ye say unto your lords, I -- I have made the earth with man, and the cattle that on the face of the earth, by My great power, and by My stretched-out arm, and I have given it to whom it hath been right in Mine eyes.

Eu am făcut pămîntul, pe oameni, şi dobitoacele cari sînt pe pămînt, cu puterea Mea cea mare şi cu braţul Meu întins, şi dau pămîntul cui Îmi place.

6 ` And now, I -- I have given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, My servant, and also the beast of the field I have given to him to serve him;

Acum dau toate aceste ţări în mîinile robului Meu Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului; îi dau chiar şi fiarele cîmpului ca să -i fie supuse.

7 A nd served him have all the nations, and his son, and his son's son, till the coming in of the time of his land, also it; and done service for him have many nations and great kings.

Toate neamurile vor fi supuse lui, fiului său, şi fiului fiului său, pînă va veni şi vremea ţării lui, şi o vor supune neamuri puternice şi împăraţi mari.

8 A nd it hath come to pass, the nation and the kingdom that do not serve him -- Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon -- and that which putteth not its neck into the yoke of the king of Babylon, with sword, and with famine, and with pestilence, I lay a charge on that nation -- an affirmation of Jehovah -- till I consume them by his hand.

Dar dacă un popor sau o împărăţie nu se va supune lui Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului, şi nu-şi va pleca grumazul supt jugul împăratului Babilonului, voi pedepsi pe poporul acela cu sabie, cu foamete şi cu ciumă, zice Domnul, pînă îl voi nimici prin mîna lui.

9 ` And ye, ye do not hearken unto your prophets, and unto your diviners, and unto your dreamers, and unto your observers of clouds, and unto your sorcerers who are speaking unto you, saying, Ye do not serve the king of Babylon, --

De aceea, să n'ascultaţi pe proorocii voştri, pe ghicitorii voştri, pe visătorii voştri, pe cititorii voştri în stele, şi pe vrăjitorii voştri, cari vă zic:, Nu veţi fi supuşi împăratului Babilonului!`

10 F or falsehood they are prophesying to you, so as to remove you far from off your ground, and I have driven you out, and ye have perished.

Căci ei vă proorocesc minciuni, ca să fiţi depărtaţi din ţara voastră, ca să vă izgonesc şi să pieriţi.

11 A nd the nation that causeth its neck to enter into the yoke of the king of Babylon, and hath served him -- I have left it on its ground -- an affirmation of Jehovah -- and it hath tilled it, and dwelt in it.'

Dar pe poporul care îşi va pleca grumazul supt jugul împăratului Babilonului, şi care -i va fi supus, îl voi lăsa în ţara lui, zice Domnul, ca s'o lucreze şi să locuiască în ea.`

12 A nd unto Zedekiah king of Judah I have spoken according to all these words, saying, `Cause your necks to enter into the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people, and live.

Am spus întocmai aceleaşi lucruri lui Zedechia, împăratul lui Iuda:, Plecaţi-vă grumazul supt jugul împăratului Babilonului, supuneţi-vă lui şi poporului lui, şi veţi trăi.

13 W hy do ye die, thou and thy people, by sword, by famine, and by pestilence, as Jehovah hath spoken concerning the nation that doth not serve the king of Babylon?

Pentruce să muriţi, tu şi poporul tău, de sabie, de foamete şi de ciumă, cum a hotărît Domnul asupra poporului care nu se va supune împăratului Babilonului?

14 ` And ye do not hearken unto the words of the prophets who are speaking unto you, saying, Ye do not serve the king of Babylon, -- for falsehood they are prophesying to you.

N'ascultaţi de cuvintele proorocilor cari vă zic:, Nu veţi fi supuşi împăratului Babilonului!` Căci ei vă proorocesc minciuni;

15 F or I have not sent them -- an affirmation of Jehovah -- and they are prophesying in My name falsely, so as to drive you out, and ye have perished, ye, and the prophets who are prophesying to you.'

Nu i-am trimes Eu, zice Domnul, ci proorocesc minciuni în Numele Meu, ca să izgonesc şi să pieriţi, voi şi proorocii cari vă proorocesc!`

16 A nd unto the priests, and unto all this people, I have spoken, saying, `Thus said Jehovah, Ye do not hearken unto the words of your prophets, who are prophesying to you, saying, Lo, the vessels of the house of Jehovah are brought back from Babylon now in haste, for falsehood they are prophesying to you.

Am vorbit şi preoţilor şi întregului popor şi le-am spus:, Aşa vorbeşte Domnul:, N-ascultaţi de cuvintele proorocilor voştri, cari vă proorocesc şi zic:, Iată că uneltele Casei Domnului vor fi aduse în curînd din Babilon!` Căci ei vă proorocesc minciuni.

17 Y e do not hearken unto them, serve the king of Babylon, and live. Why is this city a waste?

Nu -i ascultaţi; supuneţi-vă împăratului Babilonului, şi veţi trăi. Pentruce să ajungă cetatea aceasta o dărîmătură?

18 ` And, if they be prophets, and if a word of Jehovah be with them, let them intercede, I pray you, with Jehovah of Hosts, so that the vessels that are left in the house of Jehovah, and the house of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem, have not gone into Babylon.

Dacă sînt ei prooroci şi dacă este cu ei Cuvîntul Domnului, să mijlocească la Domnul oştirilor, pentruca uneltele cari au mai rămas în Casa Domnului, în casa împăratului lui Iuda, şi în Ierusalim, să nu se ducă în Babilon.

19 F or thus said Jehovah of Hosts concerning the pillars, and concerning the sea, and concerning the bases, and concerning the rest of the vessels that are left in this city,

Căci aşa vorbeşte Domnul oştirilor cu privire la stîlpi, la marea de aramă, la temelii şi la toate celelalte unelte cari au mai rămas în cetatea aceasta,

20 T hat Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon hath not taken, in his removing Jeconiah son of Jehoiakim king of Judah from Jerusalem to Babylon with all the freemen of Judah and Jerusalem,

şi cari n'au fost ridicate de Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului, cînd a luat robi din Ierusalim în Babilon pe Ieconia, fiul lui Ioiachim, împăratul lui Iuda, şi pe toţi mai marii lui Iuda şi Ierusalimului;

21 S urely thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, concerning the vessels that are left of the house of Jehovah, and of the house of the king of Judah, and Jerusalem:

aşa vorbeşte Domnul oştirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel, despre uneltele, cari au mai rămas în Casa Domnului, în casa împăratului lui Iuda, şi în Ierusalim:

22 T o Babylon they are brought, and there they are till the day of My inspecting them -- an affirmation of Jehovah; then I have brought them up, and have brought them back unto this place.'

Ele vor fi duse în Babilon, şi vor rămînea acolo pînă în ziua, cînd le voi căuta Eu-zice Domnul-cînd le voi ridica iarăş şi le voi aduce înapoi în locul acesta.``
