1 A nd draw near do the days of David to die, and he chargeth Solomon his son, saying,

2 ` I am going in the way of all the earth, and thou hast been strong, and become a man,

Eu plec pe calea pe care merge toată lumea. Întăreşte-te, şi fii om!

3 a nd kept the charge of Jehovah thy God, to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commands, and His judgments, and His testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, so that thou dost wisely all that thou dost, and whithersoever thou turnest,

Păzeşte poruncile Domnului, Dumnezeului tău, umblînd în căile Lui, şi păzind legile Lui, poruncile Lui, hotărîrile Lui şi învăţăturile Lui, după cum este scris în legea lui Moise, ca să izbuteşti în tot ce vei face şi ori încotro te vei întoarce,

4 s o that Jehovah doth establish His word which He spake unto me, saying, If thy sons observe their way to walk before Me in truth, with all their heart, and with all their soul; saying, There is not cut off a man of thine from the throne of Israel.

şi pentruca Domnul să împlinească următoarele cuvinte pe cari le -a rostit pentru mine:, Dacă fiii tăi vor lua seama la calea lor, umblînd cu credincioşie înaintea Mea, din toată inima lor şi din tot sufletul lor, nu vei fi lipsit niciodată de un urmaş pe scaunul de domnie al lui Israel.`

5 ` And also, thou hast known that which he did to me -- Joab son of Zeruiah -- that which he did to two heads of the hosts of Israel, to Abner son of Ner, and to Amasa son of Jether -- that he slayeth them, and maketh the blood of war in peace, and putteth the blood of war in his girdle, that on his loins, and in his sandals that on his feet;

Ştii ce mi -a făcut Ioab, fiul Ţeruiei, ce a făcut celor două căpetenii ale oştirii lui Israel, lui Abner, fiul lui Ner, şi lui Amasa, fiul lui Ieter. I -a omorît; a vărsat în timp de pace sînge de război, şi a pus sîngele de război pe cingătoarea cu care era încins la mijloc şi pe încălţămintea din picioare.

6 a nd thou hast done according to thy wisdom, and dost not let his old age go down in peace to Sheol.

Fă după înţelepciunea ta, şi să nu laşi ca perii lui cei albi să se pogoare în pace în locuinţa morţilor.

7 ` And to the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite thou dost do kindness, and they have been among those eating at thy table, for so they drew near unto me in my fleeing from the face of Absalom thy brother.

Să te porţi cu bunăvoinţă cu fiii lui Barzilai, Galaaditul, şi ei să mănînce la masă cu tine; căci tot aşa s'au purtat şi ei cu mine, ieşindu-mi înainte, cînd fugeam de fratele tău Absalom.

8 ` And lo, with thee Shimei son of Gera, the Benjamite of Bahurim, and he reviled me -- a grievous reviling -- in the day of my going to Mahanaim; and he hath come down to meet me at the Jordan, and I swear to him by Jehovah, saying, I do not put thee to death by the sword;

Iată că ai lîngă tine pe Şimei, fiul lui Ghera, Beniamitul, din Bahurim. El a rostit împotriva mea mari blesteme în ziua cînd mă duceam la Mahanaim. Dar s'a pogorît înaintea mea la Iordan, şi i-am jurat pe Domnul, zicînd:, Nu te voi omorî cu sabia.`

9 a nd now, acquit him not, for a wise man thou, and thou hast known that which thou dost to him, and hast brought down his old age with blood to Sheol.'

Acum, tu să nu -l laşi nepedepsit; căci eşti un om înţelept, şi ştii cum trebuie să te porţi cu el. Să -i pogori perii albi însîngeraţi în locuinţa morţilor.``

10 A nd David lieth down with his fathers, and is buried in the city of David,

David a adormit cu părinţii lui, şi a fost îngropat în cetatea lui David.

11 a nd the days that David hath reigned over Israel forty years, in Hebron he hath reigned seven years, and in Jerusalem he hath reigned thirty and three years.

Vremea cît a împărăţit David peste Israel a fost de patruzeci de ani: la Hebron a împărăţit şapte ani, iar la Ierusalim a împărăţit treizeci şi trei de ani.

12 A nd Solomon hath sat on the throne of David his father, and his kingdom is established greatly,

Solomon a şezut pe scaunul de domnie al tatălui său David, şi împărăţia lui s'a întărit foarte mult.

13 a nd Adonijah son of Haggith cometh in unto Bath-Sheba, mother of Solomon, and she saith, `Is thy coming peace?' and he saith, `Peace.'

Adonia, fiul Haghitei, s'a dus la Bat-Şeba, mama lui Solomon. Ea i -a zis:,, Vii cu gînduri pacinice?`` El a răspuns:,, Da.``

14 A nd he saith, `I have a word unto thee,' and she saith, `Speak.'

Şi a adăugat:,, Am să-ţi spun o vorbă.`` Ea a zis:,, Vorbeşte!``

15 A nd he saith, `Thou hast known that the kingdom was mine, and towards me set their faces had all Israel for reigning, and the kingdom is turned round about, and is my brother's, for from Jehovah it was his;

Şi el a zis:,,Ştii că împărăţia era a mea, şi că tot Israelul îşi îndrepta privirile spre mine ca să fiu împărat. Dar împăraţia s'a întors, şi a căzut fratelui meu, pentrucă Domnul i -a dat -o.

16 a nd now, one petition I am asking of thee -- turn not back my face;' and she saith unto him, `Speak.'

Acum îţi cer un lucru: nu-ţi întoarce faţa!`` Ea i -a răspuns:,, Vorbeşte!``

17 A nd he saith, `Speak, I pray thee, to Solomon the king, for he doth not turn back thy face, and he doth give to me Abishag the Shunammite for a wife.'

Şi el a zis:,, Spune, te rog, împăratului Solomon-căci nu se poate să nu te asculte-să-mi dea de nevastă pe Abişag, Sunamita.``

18 A nd Bath-Sheba saith, `Good; I do speak for thee unto the king.'

Bat-Şeba a zis:,, Bine! voi vorbi împăratului pentru tine.``

19 A nd Bath-Sheba cometh in unto king Solomon to speak to him for Adonijah, and the king riseth to meet her, and boweth himself to her, and sitteth on his throne, and placeth a throne for the mother of the king, and she sitteth at his right hand.

Bat-Şeba s'a dus la împăratul Solomon, să -i vorbească pentru Adonia. Împăratul s'a sculat s'o întîmpine, s'a închinat înaintea ei, şi a şezut pe scaunul său de domnie. Au pus un scaun pentru mama împăratului, şi ea a şezut la dreapta lui.

20 A nd she saith, `One small petition I ask of thee, turn not back my face;' and the king saith to her, `Ask, my mother, for I do not turn back thy face.'

Apoi a zis:,, Am să-ţi fac o mică rugăminte: să mă asculţi!`` Şi împăratul i -a zis:,, Cere, mamă, căci te voi asculta.``

21 A nd she saith, `Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah thy brother for a wife.'

Ea a zis:,, Abişag, Sunamita, să fie dată de nevastă fratelui tău Adonia.``

22 A nd king Solomon answereth and saith to his mother, `And why art thou asking Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? also ask for him the kingdom -- for he mine elder brother -- even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab son of Zeruiah.'

Împăratul Solomon a răspuns mamei sale:,, Pentruce ceri numai pe Abişag, Sunamita, pentru Adonia? Cere şi împărăţia pentru el-căci este fratele meu mai mare decît mine-pentru el, pentru preotul Abiatar, şi pentru Ioab, fiul Ţeruiei.``

23 A nd king Solomon sweareth by Jehovah, saying, `Thus doth God to me, and thus He doth add -- surely against his soul hath Adonijah spoken this word;

Atunci împăratul a jurat pe Domnul, zicînd:,, Să mă pedepsească Dumnezeu cu toată asprimea, dacă nu -l vor costa viaţa pe Adonia cuvintele acestea!

24 a nd now, Jehovah liveth, who hath established me, and causeth me to sit on the throne of David my father, and who hath made for me an house as He spake -- surely to-day is Adonijah put to death.'

Acum, viu este Domnul, care m'a întărit şi m'a suit pe scaunul de domnie al tatălui meu David, şi care mi -a făcut o casă, după făgăduinţa Lui, că astăzi va muri Adonia!``

25 A nd king Solomon sendeth by the hand of Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and he falleth upon him, and he dieth.

Şi împăratul Solomon a trimes pe Benaia, fiul lui Iehoiada, care l -a lovit; şi Adonia a murit.

26 A nd to Abiathar the priest said the king, `To Anathoth go, unto thy fields; for a man of death thou, but in this day I do not put thee to death, because thou hast borne the ark of the Lord Jehovah before David my father, and because thou wast afflicted in all that my father was afflicted in.'

Împăratul a zis apoi preotului Abiatar:,, Du-te la Anatot la moşiile tale, căci eşti vrednic de moarte; dar nu te voi omorî azi, pentrucă ai purtat chivotul Domnului Dumnezeu înaintea tatălui meu David, şi pentru că ai luat parte la toate suferinţele tatălui meu.

27 A nd Solomon casteth out Abiathar from being priest to Jehovah, to fulfil the word of Jehovah which He spake concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh.

Astfel Solomon a scos pe Abiatar din slujba de preot al Domnului, ca să împlinească cuvîntul rostit de Domnul asupra casei lui Eli în Silo.

28 A nd the report hath come unto Joab -- for Joab hath turned aside after Adonijah, though after Absalom he did not turn aside -- and Joab fleeth unto the tent of Jehovah, and layeth hold on the horns of the altar.

Vestea aceasta a ajuns pînă la Ioab, care luase partea lui Adonia, măcar că nu luase partea lui Absalom. Şi Ioab a fugit la cortul Domnului, şi s'a apucat de coarnele altarului.

29 A nd it is declared to king Solomon that Joab hath fled unto the tent of Jehovah, and lo, near the altar; and Solomon sendeth Benaiah son of Jehoiada, saying, `Go, fall upon him.'

Au dat de ştire împăratului Solomon că Ioab a fugit la cortul Domnului, şi că este la altar. Şi Solomon a trimes pe Benaia, fiul lui Iehoiada, zicîndu -i:,, Du-te şi loveşte -l!``

30 A nd Benaiah cometh in unto the tent of Jehovah, and saith unto him, `Thus said the king, Come out;' and he saith, `Nay, but here I die.' And Benaiah bringeth back the king word, saying, `Thus spake Joab, yea, thus he answered me.'

Benaia a ajuns la cortului Domnului, şi a zis lui Ioab:,, Ieşi! căci aşa porunceşte împăratul.`` Dar el a răspuns:,, Nu! vreau să mor aici.`` Benaia a spus lucrul acesta împăratului, zicînd:,, Aşa a vorbit Ioab, şi aşa mi -a răspuns``.

31 A nd the king saith to him, `Do as he hath spoken, and fall upon him, and thou hast buried him, and turned aside the causeless blood which Joab shed, from off me, and from off the house of my father;

Împăratul a zis lui Benaia:,, Fă cum a zis, loveşte -l, şi îngroapă -l; şi ia astfel de peste mine şi de peste casa tatălui meu sîngele pe care l -a vărsat Ioab fără temei.

32 a nd Jehovah hath turned back his blood on his own head, who hath fallen on two men more righteous and better than he, and slayeth them with the sword, -- and my father David knew not -- Abner son of Ner, head of the host of Israel, and Amasa son of Jether, head of the host of Judah;

Domnul va face ca sîngele lui să cadă asupra capului lui, pentrucă a lovit pe doi bărbaţi mai drepţi şi mai buni decît el, şi i -a ucis cu sabia, fără să fi ştiut tatăl meu David: pe Abner, fiul lui Ner, căpetenia oştirii lui Israel, şi pe Amasa, fiul lui Ieter, căpetenia oştirii lui Iuda.

33 y ea, turned back hath their blood on the head of Joab, and on the head of his seed to the age; and for David, and for his seed, and for his house, and for his throne, there is peace unto the age, from Jehovah.'

Sîngele lor să cadă peste capul lui Ioab şi peste capul urmaşilor lui pentru totdeauna; dar David, sămînţa lui, casa lui şi scaunul lui de domnie, să aibă parte de pace pe vecie din partea Domnului.``

34 A nd Benaiah son of Jehoiada goeth up and falleth upon him, and putteth him to death, and he is buried in his own house in the wilderness,

Benaia, fiul lui Iehoiada, s'a suit, a lovit pe Ioab, şi l -a omorît. El a fost îngropat în casa lui, în pustie.

35 a nd the king putteth Benaiah son of Jehoiada in his stead over the host, and Zadok the priest hath the king put in the stead of Abiathar.

Împăratul a pus în fruntea oştirii pe Benaia, fiul lui Iehoiada, în locul lui Ioab, iar în locul lui Abiatar a pus pe preotul Ţadoc.

36 A nd the king sendeth and calleth for Shimei, and saith to him, `Build for thee a house in Jerusalem, and thou hast dwelt there, and dost not go out thence any where;

Împăratul a chemat pe Şimei, şi i -a zis:,, Zideşte-ţi o casă la Ierusalim: să locuieşti în ea, şi să nu ieşi din ea ca să te duci într'o parte sau alta.

37 a nd it hath been, in the day of thy going out, and thou hast passed over the brook Kidron, thou dost certainly know that thou dost surely die -- thy blood is on thy head.'

Să ştii bine că în ziua cînd vei ieşi şi vei trece pîrîul Chedron, vei muri. Atunci sîngele tău va cădea asupra capului tău.

38 A nd Shimei saith to the king, `The word good; as my lord the king hath spoken so doth thy servant do;' and Shimei dwelleth in Jerusalem many days.

Şimei a răspuns împăratului:,, Bine! robul tău va face cum spune domnul meu, împăratul.`` Şi Şimei a locuit multă vreme la Ierusalim.

39 A nd it cometh to pass, at the end of three years, that flee do two of the servants of Shimei unto Achish son of Maachah, king of Gath, and they declare to Shimei, saying, `Lo, thy servants in Gath;'

După trei ani, s'a întîmplat că doi slujitori ai lui Şimei au fugit la Achiş, fiul lui Maaca, împăratul Gatului. Au dat de ştire lui Şimei, zicînd:,, Iată că slujitorii tăi sînt la Gat.``

40 a nd Shimei riseth, and saddleth his ass, and goeth to Gath, unto Achish, to seek his servants, and Shimei goeth and bringeth his servants from Gath.

Şimei s'a sculat, a pus şaua pe măgar, şi s'a dus la Gat la Achiş, să-şi caute slujitorii. Şimei s'a dus, şi şi -a adus înapoi slujitorii din Gat.

41 A nd it is declared to Solomon that Shimei hath gone from Jerusalem to Gath, and doth return,

Au dat de veste lui Solomon că Şimei a plecat din Ierusalim la Gat, şi că s'a întors.

42 a nd the king sendeth and calleth for Shimei, and saith unto him, `Have I not caused thee to swear by Jehovah -- and I testify against thee, saying, In the day of thy going out, and thou hast gone anywhere, thou dost certainly know that thou dost surely die; and thou sayest unto me, The word I have heard good?

Împăratul a chemat pe Şimei, şi i -a zis:,, Nu te-am pus eu să juri pe Domnul, şi nu ţi-am spus eu hotărît:, Să ştii că vei muri în ziua cînd vei ieşi să te duci într'o parte sau alta?` Şi nu mi-ai răspuns tu:, Bine! am înţeles?`

43 a nd wherefore hast thou not kept the oath of Jehovah, and the charge that I charged upon thee?'

Pentru ce atunci n'ai ascultat de jurămîntul Domnului şi de porunca pe care ţi -o dădusem?``

44 A nd the king saith unto Shimei, `Thou hast known all the evil that thy heart hath known, which thou didest to David my father, and Jehovah hath turned back thine evil on thy head,

Şi împăratul a zis lui Şimei:,,Ştii înlăuntrul inimii tale tot răul pe care l-ai făcut tatălui meu David; Domnul a întors răutatea ta asupra capului tău.

45 a nd king Solomon blessed, and the throne of David is established before Jehovah unto the age.'

Dar împăratul Solomon va fi binecuvîntat, şi scaunul de domnie al lui David va fi întărit pe vecie înaintea Domnului.``

46 A nd the king chargeth Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and he goeth out and falleth on him, and he dieth, and the kingdom is established in the hand of Solomon.

Şi împăratul a poruncit lui Benaia, fiul lui Iehoiada, care a ieşit şi a lovit pe Şimei; şi Şimei a murit. Astfel, împărăţia s'a întărit în mînile lui Solomon.
