1 A nd afterwards have Moses and Aaron entered, and they say unto Pharaoh, `Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, Send My people away, and they keep a feast to Me in the wilderness;'

Moise şi Aaron s'au dus apoi la Faraon, şi i-au zis:,, Aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel:, Lasă pe poporul Meu să plece, ca să prăznuiască în pustie un praznic în cinstea Mea.``

2 a nd Pharaoh saith, `Who Jehovah, that I hearken to His voice, to send Israel away? I have not known Jehovah, and Israel also I do not send away.'

Faraon a răspuns:,, Cine este Domnul, ca să ascult de glasul Lui, şi să las pe Israel să plece?`` Eu nu cunosc pe Domnul, şi nu voi lăsa pe Israel să plece.``

3 A nd they say, `The God of the Hebrews hath met with us, let us go, we pray thee, a journey of three days into the wilderness, and we sacrifice to Jehovah our God, lest He meet us with pestilence or with sword.'

Ei au zis:,, Ni S'a arătat Dumnezeul Evreilor. Dă-ne voie să facem un drum de trei zile în pustie, ca să aducem jertfe Domnului, pentruca să nu ne bată cu ciumă sau cu sabie.``

4 A nd the king of Egypt saith unto them, `Why, Moses and Aaron, do ye free the people from its works? go to your burdens.'

Şi împăratul Egiptului le -a zis:,, Moise şi Aaron, pentruce abateţi poporul de la lucrul lui? Plecaţi la lucrările voastre.``

5 P haraoh also saith, `Lo, numerous now the people of the land, and ye have caused them to cease from their burdens!'

Faraon a zis:,, Iată că poporul acesta s'a înmulţit acum în ţară, şi voi mai voiţi să -l faceţi să-şi înceteze lucrările?``

6 A nd Pharaoh commandeth, on that day, the exactors among the people and its authorities, saying,

Şi chiar în ziua aceea, Faraon a dat următoarea poruncă isprăvniceilor norodului şi logofeţilor:

7 ` Ye do not add to give straw to the people for the making of the bricks, as heretofore -- they go and have gathered straw for themselves;

Să nu mai daţi poporului paie ca mai înainte pentru facerea cărămizilor; ci să se ducă singuri să strîngă paie.

8 a nd the proper quantity of the bricks which they are making heretofore ye do put on them, ye do not diminish from it, for they are remiss, therefore they are crying, saying, Let us go, let us sacrifice to our God;

Totuş să le cereţi acelaş număr de cărămizi, pe cari le făceau mai înainte; să nu le scădeţi nimic din ele, căci sînt nişte leneşi; de aceea strigă mereu:, Haidem să aducem jertfe Dumnezeului nostru.`

9 l et the service be heavy on the men, and let them work at it, and not be dazzled by lying words.'

Să se dea mult de lucru oamenilor acestora, ca să aibă de lucru, şi să nu mai umble după năluci.``

10 A nd the exactors of the people, and its authorities, go out, and speak unto the people, saying, `Thus said Pharaoh, I do not give you straw,

Isprăvniceii poporului şi logofeţii au venit şi au spus poporului:,, Aşa vorbeşte Faraon:, Nu vă mai dau paie;

11 y e -- go ye, take for yourselves straw where ye find, for there is nothing of your service diminished.'

duceţi-vă singuri de vă luaţi paie de unde veţi găsi; dar nu vi se scade nimic din lucrul vostru.``

12 A nd the people is scattered over all the land of Egypt, to gather stubble for straw,

Poporul s'a răspîndit în toată ţara Egiptului, ca să strîngă mirişte în loc de paie.

13 a nd the exactors are making haste, saying, `Complete your works, the matter of a day in its day, as when there is straw.'

Isprăvniceii îi sileau, zicînd:,, Isprăviţi-vă lucrul, zi de zi, ca şi atunci cînd erau paie!``

14 A nd the authorities of the sons of Israel, whom the exactors of Pharaoh have placed over them, are beaten, saying, `Wherefore have ye not completed your portion in making brick as heretofore, both yesterday and to-day?'

Au bătut chiar pe logofeţii copiilor lui Israel, puşi peste ei de isprăvniceii lui Faraon.,, Pentruce``, li se zicea,,, n'aţi isprăvit ieri şi azi, ca mai înainte, numărul de cărămizi, care vă fusese hotărît?``

15 A nd the authorities of the sons of Israel come in and cry unto Pharaoh, saying, `Why dost thou thus to thy servants?

Logofeţii copiilor lui Israel s'au dus să se plîngă la Faraon, şi i-au zis:,, Pentruce te porţi aşa cu robii tăi?

16 S traw is not given to thy servants, and they are saying to us, Make bricks, and lo, thy servants are smitten -- and thy people hath sinned.'

Robilor tăi nu li se mai dau paie ca mai înainte, şi totuş ni se spune:, Faceţi cărămizi!` Ba încă, robii tăi sînt şi bătuţi, ca şi cînd poporul tău ar fi vinovat.``

17 A nd he saith, `Remiss -- ye are remiss, therefore ye are saying, Let us go, let us sacrifice to Jehovah;

Faraon a răspuns:,, Sînteţi nişte leneşi şi nişte trîntori! De aceea ziceţi:, Haidem să aducem jertfe Domnului!`

18 a nd now, go, serve; and straw is not given to you, and the measure of bricks ye do give.'

Acum, duceţi-vă îndată de lucraţi; nu vi se vor da paie, şi veţi face acelaş număr de cărămizi.``

19 A nd the authorities of the sons of Israel see them in affliction, saying, `Ye do not diminish from your bricks; the matter of a day in its day.'

Logofeţii copiilor lui Israel au văzut în ce stare nenorocită erau, cînd li se zicea:,, Nu vi se scade nimic din numărul de cărămizi; ci în fiecare zi să faceţi lucrul cuvenit unei zile.``

20 A nd they meet Moses and Aaron standing to meet them, in their coming out from Pharaoh,

Cînd au ieşit dela Faraon, au întîlnit pe Moise şi pe Aaron, care îi aşteptau.

21 a nd say unto them, `Jehovah look upon you, and judge, because ye have caused our fragrance to stink in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants -- to give a sword into their hand to slay us.'

Şi le-au zis:,, Să vă vadă Domnul, şi să judece! Voi ne-aţi făcut urîţi lui Faraon şi slujitorilor lui; ba încă le-aţi dat sabia în mînă ca să ne omoare.``

22 A nd Moses turneth back unto Jehovah, and saith, `Lord, why hast Thou done evil to this people? why this? -- Thou hast sent me!

Moise s'a întors la Domnul, şi a zis:,, Doamne, pentruce ai făcut un astfel de rău poporului acestuia? Pentruce m'ai trimes?

23 a nd since I have come unto Pharaoh, to speak in Thy name, he hath done evil to this people, and Thou hast not at all delivered Thy people.'

De cînd m'am dus la Faraon ca să -i vorbesc în Numele Tău, el face şi mai rău poporului acestuia; şi n'ai izbăvit pe poporul Tău.``
