1 F or, lo, the day hath come, burning as a furnace, And all the proud, and every wicked doer, have been stubble, And burnt them hath the day that came, Said Jehovah of Hosts, That there is not left to them root or branch,

Căci iată, vine ziua, care va arde ca un cuptor! Toţi cei trufaşi şi toţi cei răi, vor fi ca miriştea; ziua care vine îi va arde, zice Domnul oştirilor, şi nu le va lăsa nici rădăcină nici ramură.

2 A nd risen to you, ye who fear My name, Hath the sun of righteousness -- and healing in its wings, And ye have gone forth, and have increased as calves of a stall.

Dar pentru voi, cari vă temeţi de Numele Meu, va răsări Soarele neprihănirii, şi tămăduirea va fi supt aripile Lui; veţi ieşi, şi veţi sări ca viţeii din grajd.

3 A nd ye have trodden down the wicked, For they are ashes under the soles of your feet, In the day that I am appointing, Said Jehovah of Hosts.

Şi veţi călca în picioare pe cei răi, căci ei vor fi ca cenuşa supt talpa picioarelor voastre, în ziua pe care o pregătesc Eu, zice Domnul oştirilor.

4 R emember ye the law of Moses My servant, That I did command him in Horeb, For all Israel -- statutes and judgments.

Aduceţi-vă aminte de legea lui Moise, robul Meu, căruia i-am dat în Horeb, rînduieli şi porunci, pentru tot Israelul!

5 L o, I am sending to you Elijah the prophet, Before the coming of the day of Jehovah, The great and the fearful.

Iată, vă voi trimete pe proorocul Ilie, înainte de a veni ziua Domnului, ziua aceea mare şi înfricoşată.

6 A nd he hath turned back the heart of fathers to sons, And the heart of sons to their fathers, Before I come and have utterly smitten the land!

El va întoarce inima părinţilor spre copii, şi inima copiilor spre părinţii lor, ca nu cumva, la venirea Mea, să lovesc ţara cu blestem
