1 A nd Rehoboam cometh in to Jerusalem, and assembleth the house of Judah and Benjamin, a hundred and eighty thousand chosen warriors, to fight with Israel, to bring back the kingdom to Rehoboam.

Roboam, venind la Ierusalim, a strîns casa lui Iuda şi a lui Beniamin, o sută optzeci de mii de oameni de frunte, buni pentru război, ca să lupte împotriva lui Israel şi să -l aducă iarăş supt stăpînirea lui Roboam.

2 A nd a word of Jehovah is unto Shemaiah, a man of God, saying,

Dar cuvîntul Domnului a vorbit astfel lui Şemaia, omul lui Dumnezeu:

3 ` Speak unto Rehoboam son of Solomon king of Judah, and unto all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,

Vorbeşte lui Roboam, fiul lui Solomon, împăratul lui Iuda, şi întregului Israel din Iuda şi din Beniamin. Şi spune-le:

4 T hus said Jehovah, Ye do not go up nor fight with your brethren, turn back each to his house, for from Me hath this thing been;' and they hear the words of Jehovah, and turn back from going against Jeroboam.

Aşa vorbeşte Domnul:,, Să nu vă suiţi şi să nu faceţi război împotriva fraţilor voştri! Fiecare din voi să se întoarcă acasă, căci dela Mine s'a întîmplat lucrul acesta.,, Ei au ascultat de cuvintele Domnului, s'au întors acasă, şi nu s'au mai dus împotriva lui Ieroboam.

5 A nd Rehoboam dwelleth in Jerusalem, and buildeth cities for a bulwark in Judah,

Roboam a locuit la Ierusalim, şi a zidit cetăţi întărite în Iuda.

6 y ea, he buildeth Beth-Lehem and Etam, and Tekoa,

A zidit Betleemul, Etamul, Tecoa,

7 a nd Beth-Zur, and Shocho, and Adullam,

Bet-Ţur, Soco, Adulam,

8 a nd Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph,

Gat, Mareşa, Zif,

9 a nd Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,

Adoraim, Lachis, Azeca,

10 a nd Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, that in Judah and in Benjamin, cities of bulwarks.

Ţorea, Aialon şi Hebronul, cari erau în Iuda şi în Beniamin, şi a făcut din ele nişte cetăţi întărite.

11 A nd he strengtheneth the bulwarks, and putteth in them leaders, and treasures of food, and oil, and wine,

Le -a întărit, a pus în ele căpitani şi magazii de bucate, de untdelemn şi vin.

12 a nd in every city and city targets and spears, and strengtheneth them very greatly; and he hath Judah and Benjamin.

A pus în fiecare din aceste cetăţi scuturi şi suliţe, şi le -a făcut foarte tari. Iuda şi Beniamin erau ai lui.

13 A nd the priests, and the Levites, that in all Israel, have stationed themselves by him, out of all their border,

Preoţii şi Leviţii, cari se aflau în tot Israelul, şi-au părăsit locuinţele şi s'au dus la el;

14 f or the Levites have left their suburbs and their possession, and they come to Judah and to Jerusalem, for Jeroboam and his sons have cast them off from acting as priests to Jehovah,

căci Leviţii şi-au părăsit ţinuturile şi moşiile şi au venit în Iuda şi la Ierusalim, pentrucă Ieroboam şi fiii săi i-au împedecat să-şi împlinească slujbele ca preoţi ai Domnului.

15 a nd he establisheth to him priests for high places, and for goats, and for calves, that he made --

Ieroboam a pus preoţi pentru înălţimile, pentru ţapii şi pentru viţeii pe cari îi făcuse.

16 a nd after them, out of all the tribes of Israel, those giving their heart to seek Jehovah, God of Israel, have come in to Jerusalem to sacrifice to Jehovah, God of their father.

Aceia din toate seminţiile lui Israel, cari aveau pe inimă să caute pe Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel, au urmat pe Leviţi la Ierusalim, ca să jertfească Domnului, Dumnezeului părinţilor lor.

17 A nd they strengthen the kingdom of Judah, and strengthen Rehoboam son of Solomon, for three years, because they walked in the way of David and Solomon for three years.

Ei au dat astfel tărie împărăţiei lui Iuda, şi au întărit pe Roboam, fiul lui Solomon, timp de trei ani; căci trei ani au umblat în calea lui David şi a lui Solomon.

18 A nd Rehoboam taketh to him a wife, Mahalath, child of Jerimoth son of David, Abigail daughter of Eliab, son of Jesse.

Roboam a luat de nevastă pe Mahalat, fata lui Ierimot, fiul lui David şi al Abihailei, fata lui Eliab, fiul lui Isai.

19 A nd she beareth to him sons, Jeush, and Shamaria, and Zaham.

Ea i -a născut fii pe: Ieuş, Şemaria şi Zaham.

20 A nd after her he hath taken Maachah daughter of Absalom, and she beareth to him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.

După ea, a luat pe Maaca, fata lui Absalom. Ea i -a născut pe Abia, pe Atai, pe Ziza şi pe Şelomit.

21 A nd Rehoboam loveth Maachah daughter of Absalom above all his wives and his concubines -- for eighteen wives he hath taken, and sixty concubines -- and he begetteth twenty and eight sons, and sixty daughters.

Roboam iubea pe Maaca, fata lui Absalom, mai mult de cît pe toate nevestele şi ţiitoarele lui; căci a avut optsprezece neveste şi şasezeci de ţiitoare, şi a născut douăzeci şi opt de fii şi şasezeci de fete.

22 A nd Rehoboam appointeth for head Abijah son of Maachah, for leader among his brethren, for to cause him to reign.

Roboam a dat cel dintîi loc lui Abia, fiul Maachei, şi l -a pus căpetenie peste fraţii lui, căci voia să -l facă împărat.

23 A nd he hath understanding, and spreadeth out of all his sons to all lands of Judah and Benjamin, to all cities of the bulwarks, and giveth to them provision in abundance; and he asketh a multitude of wives.

El a lucrat cu minte, împrăştiind pe toţi fiii săi în toate ţinuturile lui Iuda şi lui Beniamin, în toate cetăţile întărite; le -a dat de mîncare din belşug, şi le -a căutat o mulţime de neveste.
