1 A nd it cometh to pass, at the establishing of the kingdom of Rehoboam, and at his strengthening himself, he hath forsaken the law of Jehovah, and all Israel with him.

Cînd s'a întărit Roboam în domnie şi a căpătat putere, a părăsit legea Domnului, şi tot Israelul a părăsit -o împreună cu el.

2 A nd it cometh to pass, in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, come up hath Shishak king of Egypt against Jerusalem -- because they trespassed against Jehovah --

În al cincilea an al domniei lui Roboam, Şişac, împăratul Egiptului, s'a suit împotriva Ierusalimului, pentrucă păcătuiseră împotriva Domnului.

3 w ith a thousand and two hundred chariots, and with sixty thousand horsemen, and there is no number to the people who have come with him out of Egypt -- Lubim, Sukkiim, and Cushim --

Avea o mie două sute de cară şi şasezeci de mii de călăreţi; şi împreună cu el a venit din Egipt un popor fără număr, dintre Libieni, Suchieni şi Etiopieni.

4 a nd he captureth the cities of the bulwarks that to Judah, and cometh in unto Jerusalem.

A luat cetăţile întărite ale lui Iuda, şi a ajuns pînă la Ierusalim.

5 A nd Shemaiah the prophet hath come in unto Rehoboam and the heads of Judah who have been gathered unto Jerusalem from the presence of Shishak, and saith to them, `Thus said Jehovah, Ye have forsaken Me, and also, I have left you in the hand of Shishak;'

Atunci proorocul Şemaia s'a dus la Roboam şi la căpeteniile lui Iuda, cari se adunaseră în Ierusalim, la apropierea lui Şişac, şi le -a zis:,, Aşa vorbeşte Domnul:,, Voi M'aţi părăsit; vă părăsesc şi Eu, şi vă dau în mînile lui Şişac.``

6 a nd the heads of Israel are humbled, and the king, and they say, `Righteous Jehovah.'

Căpeteniile lui Israel şi împăratul s'au smerit, şi au zis:,, Domnul este drept!``

7 A nd when Jehovah seeth that they have been humbled, a word of Jehovah hath been unto Shemaiah, saying, `They have been humbled; I do not destroy them, and I have given to them as a little thing for an escape, and I pour not out My fury in Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak;

Şi dacă a văzut Domnul că s'au smerit, cuvîntul Domnului a vorbit astfel lui Şemaia:,, S-au smerit, nu -i voi nimici, nu voi zăbovi să le vin în ajutor, şi mînia Mea nu va veni asupra Ierusalimului prin Şişac;

8 b ut they become servants to him, and they know My service, and the service of the kingdoms of the lands.'

dar îi vor fi supuşi, şi vor şti ce înseamnă să-Mi slujească Mie sau să slujească împărăţiilor altor ţări.``

9 A nd Shishak king of Egypt cometh up against Jerusalem, and taketh the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the house of the king -- the whole he hath taken -- and he taketh the shields of gold that Solomon had made;

Şişac, împăratul Egiptului, s'a suit împotriva Ierusalimului. A luat vistieriile Casei Domnului şi vistieriile casei împăratului, a luat tot. A luat scuturile de aur pe cari le făcuse Solomon.

10 a nd king Rehoboam maketh in their stead shields of brass, and hath given a charge on the hand of the heads of the runners who are keeping the opening of the house of the king;

Împăratul Roboam a făcut în locul lor nişte scuturi de aramă, şi le -a dat în grija căpeteniilor alergătorilor, cari păzeau intrarea casei împăratului.

11 a nd it cometh to pass, from the time of the going in of the king to the house of Jehovah, the runners have come in and lifted them up, and brought them back unto the chamber of the runners.

Oridecîteori se ducea împăratul la Casa Domnului, alergătorii veneau şi le purtau înaintea lui; apoi le aduceau iarăş în odaia alergătorilor.

12 A nd in his being humbled, turned back from him hath the wrath of Jehovah, so as not to destroy to completion; and also, in Judah there have been good things.

Pentrucă Roboam se smerise, Domnul Şi -a abătut mînia dela el, şi nu l -a nimicit de tot. Şi tot mai era ceva bun în Iuda.

13 A nd king Rehoboam strengtheneth himself in Jerusalem, and reigneth; for a son of forty and two years Rehoboam in his reigning, and seventeen years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, the city that Jehovah hath chosen to put His name there, out of all the tribes of Israel, and the name of his mother Naamah the Ammonitess,

Împăratul Roboam s'a întărit în Ierusalim şi a domnit. Avea patruzeci şi unu de ani cînd a ajuns împărat, şi a domnit şaptesprezece ani la Ierusalim, cetatea pe care o alesese Domnul din toate seminţiile lui Israel, ca să-Şi pună Numele în ea. Mamă-sa se numea Naama, Amonita.

14 a nd he doth the evil thing, for he hath not prepared his heart to seek Jehovah.

El a făcut lucruri rele, pentrucă nu şi -a pus inima să caute pe Domnul.

15 A nd the matters of Rehoboam, the first and the last, are they not written among the matters of Shemaiah the prophet, and of Iddo the seer, concerning genealogy? And the wars of Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days;

Faptele lui Roboam, cele dintîi şi cele depe urmă, nu sînt scrise oare în cartea proorocului Şemaia, şi a proorocului Ido, în cărţile spiţelor de neam? Totdeauna a fost război între Roboam şi Ieroboam.

16 a nd Rehoboam lieth with his fathers, and is buried in the city of David, and reign doth Abijah his son in his stead.

Roboam a adormit cu părinţii săi, şi a fost îngropat în cetatea lui David. Şi, în locul lui, a domnit fiul său Abia.
