1 A nd it cometh to pass, at Jehovah's taking up Elijah in a whirlwind to the heavens, that Elijah goeth, and Elisha, from Gilgal,

Cînd a voit Domnul să ridice pe Ilie la cer într'un vîrtej de vînt, Ilie pleca din Ghilgal cu Elisei.

2 a nd Elijah saith unto Elisha, `Abide, I pray thee, here, for Jehovah hath sent me unto Beth-El;' and Elisha saith, `Jehovah liveth, and thy soul liveth, if I leave thee;' and they go down to Beth-El.

Ilie a zis lui Elisei: 'Rămîi aici, te rog, căci Domnul mă trimete pînă la Betel.`` Elisei a răspuns:,, Viu este Domnul şi viu este sufletul tău că nu te voi părăsi.`` Şi s'au pogorît la Betel.

3 A nd sons of the prophets who in Beth-El come out unto Elisha, and say unto him, `Hast thou known that to-day Jehovah is taking thy lord from thy head?' and he saith, `I also have known -- keep silent.'

Fiii proorocilor, cari erau la Betel, au ieşit la Elisei, şi i-au zis:,,Ştii că Domnul răpeşte astăzi pe stăpînul tău deasupra capului tău?`` Şi el a răspuns:,,Ştiu şi eu, dar tăceţi.``

4 A nd Elijah saith to him, `Elisha, abide, I pray thee, here, for Jehovah hath sent me to Jericho;' and he saith, `Jehovah liveth, and thy soul liveth, if I leave thee;' and they come in to Jericho.

Ilie i -a zis: 'Eliseie, rămîi aici, te rog, căci Domnul mă trimete la Ierihon.`` El a răspuns:,, Viu este Domnul şi viu este sufletul tău că nu te voi părăsi!`` Şi au ajuns la Ierihon.

5 A nd sons of the prophets who in Jericho come nigh unto Elisha, and say unto him, `Hast thou known that to-day Jehovah is taking thy lord from thy head?' and he saith, `I also have known -- keep silent.'

Fii proorocilor, cari erau la Ierihon, s'au apropiat de Elisei, şi i-au zis:,,Ştii că Domnul răpeşte azi pe stăpînul tău deasupra capului tău?`` Şi el a răspuns:,,Ştiu şi eu; dar tăceţi.``

6 A nd Elijah saith to him, `Abide, I pray thee, here, for Jehovah hath sent me to the Jordan;' and he saith, `Jehovah liveth, and thy soul liveth, if I leave thee;' and they go on both of them,

Ilie i -a zis:,, Rămîi aici, te rog, căci Domnul mă trimete la Iordan.`` El a răspuns:,, Viu este Domnul şi viu este sufletul tău că nu te voi părăsi.`` Şi amîndoi şi-au văzut de drum.

7 - - and fifty men of the sons of the prophets have gone on, and stand over-against afar off -- and both of them have stood by the Jordan.

Cincizeci de inşi dintre fiii proorocilor au sosit şi s'au oprit la o depărtare oarecare în faţa lor, şi ei amîndoi s'au oprit pe malul Iordanului.

8 A nd Elijah taketh his robe, and wrappeth together, and smiteth the waters, and they are halved, hither and thither, and they pass over both of them on dry land.

Atunci Ilie şi -a luat mantaua, a făcut -o sul, şi a lovit cu ea apele, cari s'au despărţit într'o parte şi într'alta, şi au trecut amîndoi pe uscat.

9 A nd it cometh to pass, at their passing over, that Elijah hath said unto Elisha, `Ask, what do I do for thee before I am taken from thee?' and Elisha saith, `Then let there be, I pray thee, a double portion of thy spirit unto me;'

Dupăce au trecut, Ilie a zis lui Elisei:,, Cere ce vrei să-ţi fac, înainte ca să fiu răpit dela tine.`` Elisei a răspuns:,, Te rog să vină peste mine o îndoită măsură din duhul tău!``

10 a nd he saith, `Thou hast asked a hard thing; if thou dost see me taken from thee, it is to thee so; and if not, it is not.'

Ilie a zis:,, Greu lucru ceri. Dar dacă mă vei vedea cînd voi fi răpit dela tine, aşa ţi se va întîmpla; dacă nu, nu ţi se va întîmpla aşa,``

11 A nd it cometh to pass, they are going, going on and speaking, and lo, a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and they separate between them both, and Elijah goeth up in a whirlwind, to the heavens.

Pe cînd mergeau ei vorbind, iată că un car de foc şi nişte cai de foc i-au despărţit pe unul de altul, şi Ilie s'a înălţat la cer într'un vîrtej de vînt.

12 A nd Elisha is seeing, and he is crying, `My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and its horsemen;' and he hath not seen him again; and he taketh hold on his garments, and rendeth them into two pieces.

Elisei se uita şi striga:,, Părinte! Părinte! Carul lui Israel şi călărimea lui!`` Şi nu l -a mai văzut. Apucîndu-şi hainele, le -a sfîşiat în două bucăţi,

13 A nd he taketh up the robe of Elijah, that fell from off him, and turneth back and standeth on the edge of the Jordan,

şi a ridicat mantaua, căreia îi dăduse drumul Ilie. Apoi s'a întors, şi s'a oprit pe malul Iordanului;

14 a nd he taketh the robe of Elijah that fell from off him, and smiteth the waters, and saith, `Where Jehovah, God of Elijah -- even He?' and he smiteth the waters, and they are halved, hither and thither, and Elisha passeth over.

a luat mantaua, căreia îi dăduse Ilie drumul, şi a lovit apele cu ea, şi a zis:,, Unde este acum Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Ilie?`` Şi a lovit apele, cari s'au despărţit într'o parte şi în alta, şi Elisei a trecut.

15 A nd they see him -- the sons of the prophets who in Jericho -- over-against, and they say, `Rested hath the spirit of Elijah on Elisha;' and they come to meet him, and bow themselves to him to the earth,

Fiii proorocilor cari erau în faţa Ierihonului, cînd l-au văzut, au zis:,, Duhul lui Ilie a venit peste Elisei.`` Şi i-au ieşit înainte, şi s'au închinat pînă la pămînt înaintea lui.

16 a nd say unto him, `Lo, we pray thee, there are with thy servants fifty men, sons of valour: let them go, we pray thee, and they seek thy lord, lest the Spirit of Jehovah hath taken him up, and doth cast him on one of the hills, or into one of the valleys;' and he saith, `Ye do not send.'

Ei i-au zis:,, Iată că între slujitorii tăi sînt cincizeci de oameni viteji; vrei să se ducă să caute pe stăpînul tău?`` Poate că Duhul Domnului l -a dus şi l -a aruncat pe vreun munte sau în vreo vale.`` El a răspuns:,, Nu -i trimeteţi.``

17 A nd they press upon him, till he is ashamed, and he saith, `Send ye;' and they send fifty men, and they seek three days, and have not found him;

Dar ei au stăruit multă vreme de el. Şi el a zis:,, Trimeteţi -i.`` Au trimes pe cei cincizeci de oameni, cari au căutat pe Ilie trei zile şi nu l-au găsit.

18 a nd they turn back unto him -- and he is abiding in Jericho -- and he saith unto them, `Did I not say unto you, Do not go?'

Cînd s'au întors la Elisei, care era la Ierihon, el le -a zis:,, Nu v'am spus să nu vă duceţi?``

19 A nd the men of the city say unto Elisha, `Lo, we pray thee, the site of the city good, as my lord seeth, and the waters bad, and the earth sterile.'

Oamenii din cetate au zis lui Elisei:,, Iată, aşezarea cetăţii este bună, după cum vede domnul meu; dar apele sînt rele, şi ţara este stearpă.``

20 A nd he saith, `Bring to me a new dish, and place there salt;' and they bring unto him,

El a zis:,, Aduceţi-mi un blid nou şi puneţi sare în el.`` Şi i-au adus.

21 a nd he goeth out unto the source of the waters, and casteth there salt, and saith, `Thus said Jehovah, I have given healing to these waters; there is not thence any more death and sterility.'

Apoi s'a dus la izvorul apelor, şi a aruncat sare în el, şi a zis:,, Aşa vorbeşte Domnul:, Vindec apele acestea; nu va mai veni din ele nici moarte, nici sterpiciune.``

22 A nd the waters are healed unto this day, according to the word of Elisha, that he spake.

Şi apele au fost vindecate pînă în ziua aceasta, după cuvîntul pe care -l rostise Domnul.

23 A nd he goeth up thence to Beth-El, and he is going up in the way, and little youths have come out from the city, and scoff at him, and say to him, `Go up, bald-head! go up, bald-head!'

De acolo s'a suit la Betel. Şi pe cînd mergea pe drum, nişte băieţaşi au ieşit din cetate, şi şi-au bătut joc de el. Ei îi ziceau:,, Suie-te, pleşuvule! Suie-te, pleşuvule!``

24 A nd he looketh behind him, and seeth them, and declareth them vile in the name of Jehovah, and two bears come out of the forest, and rend of them forty and two lads.

El s'a întors să -i privească, şi i -a blestemat în Numele Domnului. Atunci au ieşit doi urşi din pădure, şi au sfîşiat patruzeci şi doi din aceşti copii.

25 A nd he goeth thence unto the hill of Carmel, and thence he hath turned back to Samaria.

De acolo s'a dus pe muntele Carmel, de unde s'a întors la Samaria.
