1 A nd it cometh to pass, at Jehovah's taking up Elijah in a whirlwind to the heavens, that Elijah goeth, and Elisha, from Gilgal,

По времето, когато Господ щеше да възнесе Илия на небето с вихрушка, той тръгна с Елисей от Галгал.

2 a nd Elijah saith unto Elisha, `Abide, I pray thee, here, for Jehovah hath sent me unto Beth-El;' and Elisha saith, `Jehovah liveth, and thy soul liveth, if I leave thee;' and they go down to Beth-El.

Илия каза на Елисей: Остани тук, моля, защото Господ ме прати до Ветил. А Елисей отвърна: Заклевам се в живота на Господа и в живота на душата ти, че няма да те оставя. И така, слязоха във Ветил.

3 A nd sons of the prophets who in Beth-El come out unto Elisha, and say unto him, `Hast thou known that to-day Jehovah is taking thy lord from thy head?' and he saith, `I also have known -- keep silent.'

И пророческите ученици, които бяха във Ветил, излязоха при Елисей и го попитаха: Знаеш ли, че днес Господ ще ти вземе господаря, който е бил над теб? А той отговори: Да, зная това, мълчете.

4 A nd Elijah saith to him, `Elisha, abide, I pray thee, here, for Jehovah hath sent me to Jericho;' and he saith, `Jehovah liveth, and thy soul liveth, if I leave thee;' and they come in to Jericho.

Тогава Илия му каза: Елисей, остани тук, моля, защото Господ ме прати в Йерихон. А Елисей отвърна: Заклевам се в живота на Господа и в живота на душата ти, че няма да те оставя. Така дойдоха в Йерихон.

5 A nd sons of the prophets who in Jericho come nigh unto Elisha, and say unto him, `Hast thou known that to-day Jehovah is taking thy lord from thy head?' and he saith, `I also have known -- keep silent.'

И пророческите ученици, които бяха в Йерихон, дойдоха при Елисей и го попитаха: Знаеш ли, че днес Господ ще ти вземе господаря, който е бил над теб? А той отговори: Да, зная това, мълчете.

6 A nd Elijah saith to him, `Abide, I pray thee, here, for Jehovah hath sent me to the Jordan;' and he saith, `Jehovah liveth, and thy soul liveth, if I leave thee;' and they go on both of them,

Тогава Илия му каза: Остани тук, моля, защото Господ ме прати до Йордан. А Елисей отговори: Заклевам се в живота на Господа и в живота на душата ти, че няма да те оставя. И така, отидоха и двамата.

7 - - and fifty men of the sons of the prophets have gone on, and stand over-against afar off -- and both of them have stood by the Jordan.

Петдесет мъже от пророческите ученици отидоха и застанаха насреща им отдалеч. А те двамата застанаха при Йордан.

8 A nd Elijah taketh his robe, and wrappeth together, and smiteth the waters, and they are halved, hither and thither, and they pass over both of them on dry land.

И като взе кожуха си и го сгъна, Илия удари водата; и тя се раздели на едната и на другата страна, така че двамата преминаха по сухо.

9 A nd it cometh to pass, at their passing over, that Elijah hath said unto Elisha, `Ask, what do I do for thee before I am taken from thee?' and Elisha saith, `Then let there be, I pray thee, a double portion of thy spirit unto me;'

След като преминаха, Илия каза на Елисей: Поискай какво да направя за тебе, преди да бъда отнет от теб. Елисей отвърна: Моля, нека бъде в мене двоен дял от духа ти.

10 a nd he saith, `Thou hast asked a hard thing; if thou dost see me taken from thee, it is to thee so; and if not, it is not.'

А Илия каза: Трудно нещо поиска ти; но ако ме видиш, когато ме отнемат от тебе, ще ти бъде даден; но ако не, няма да бъде.

11 A nd it cometh to pass, they are going, going on and speaking, and lo, a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and they separate between them both, and Elijah goeth up in a whirlwind, to the heavens.

И докато те още ходеха и разговаряха, ето, появи се огнена колесница и огнени коне, които ги разделиха един от друг; и Илия възлезе с вихрушка на небето.

12 A nd Elisha is seeing, and he is crying, `My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and its horsemen;' and he hath not seen him again; and he taketh hold on his garments, and rendeth them into two pieces.

А Елисей, като гледаше, извика: Татко мой, татко мой, колесницата Израелева и негова конница! И не го видя вече. Елисей хвана дрехите си и ги разкъса на две. Начало на служението на пророк Елисей

13 A nd he taketh up the robe of Elijah, that fell from off him, and turneth back and standeth on the edge of the Jordan,

И като вдигна кожуха на Илия, който падна от него, се върна и застана на брега на Йордан.

14 a nd he taketh the robe of Elijah that fell from off him, and smiteth the waters, and saith, `Where Jehovah, God of Elijah -- even He?' and he smiteth the waters, and they are halved, hither and thither, and Elisha passeth over.

Той взе кожуха, който падна от Илия, удари водата и каза: Къде е Господ, Илиевият Бог? И като удари и той водата, тя се раздели и Елисей премина.

15 A nd they see him -- the sons of the prophets who in Jericho -- over-against, and they say, `Rested hath the spirit of Elijah on Elisha;' and they come to meet him, and bow themselves to him to the earth,

А пророческите ученици, които бяха в Йерихон, като го видяха отсреща, казаха: Илиевият дух остава на Елисей. И дойдоха да го посрещнат и му се поклониха до земята.

16 a nd say unto him, `Lo, we pray thee, there are with thy servants fifty men, sons of valour: let them go, we pray thee, and they seek thy lord, lest the Spirit of Jehovah hath taken him up, and doth cast him on one of the hills, or into one of the valleys;' and he saith, `Ye do not send.'

Тогава му казаха: Ето сега между слугите ти има петдесет силни мъже; нека отидат, молим, да потърсят господаря ти, да не би да го е вдигнал Господният Дух и да го е хвърлил на някой хълм или в някоя долина. А Елисей отговори: Не отивайте.

17 A nd they press upon him, till he is ashamed, and he saith, `Send ye;' and they send fifty men, and they seek three days, and have not found him;

Но като настояваха пред него толкова, че се засрами, каза: Отидете. И така, отидоха петдесет мъже, които търсиха три дни, но не го намериха.

18 a nd they turn back unto him -- and he is abiding in Jericho -- and he saith unto them, `Did I not say unto you, Do not go?'

Когато се върнаха при него (защото той беше останал в Йерихон), им каза: Не ви ли казах: Не отивайте?

19 A nd the men of the city say unto Elisha, `Lo, we pray thee, the site of the city good, as my lord seeth, and the waters bad, and the earth sterile.'

Тогава гражданите казаха на Елисей: Виж, молим ти се, местоположението на този град е добро, както вижда господарят ни; но водата е лоша, а земята е безплодна.

20 A nd he saith, `Bring to me a new dish, and place there salt;' and they bring unto him,

А той отговори: Донесете ми ново блюдо и сложете в него сол. И му донесоха.

21 a nd he goeth out unto the source of the waters, and casteth there salt, and saith, `Thus said Jehovah, I have given healing to these waters; there is not thence any more death and sterility.'

Тогава Елисей слезе при извора на водата и хвърли солта в него, като каза: Така казва Господ: Изцерих тази вода; няма да има вече от нея нито смърт, нито безплодие.

22 A nd the waters are healed unto this day, according to the word of Elisha, that he spake.

Така водата беше изцерена, каквато е и до днес, според словото, което Елисей изговори.

23 A nd he goeth up thence to Beth-El, and he is going up in the way, and little youths have come out from the city, and scoff at him, and say to him, `Go up, bald-head! go up, bald-head!'

Оттам той отиде във Ветил. А докато вървеше по пътя, от града излязоха малки деца и му се присмиваха, като му казваха: Върви, плешивецо! Върви, плешивецо!

24 A nd he looketh behind him, and seeth them, and declareth them vile in the name of Jehovah, and two bears come out of the forest, and rend of them forty and two lads.

А той, като се озърна назад и ги видя, прокле ги в Господнето име. И от дъбравата излязоха две мечки и разкъсаха от тях четиридесет и две деца.

25 A nd he goeth thence unto the hill of Carmel, and thence he hath turned back to Samaria.

Оттам Елисей отиде на планината Кармил, откъдето се върна в Самария.
