1 A nd passing by, he saw a man blind from birth,

2 a nd his disciples asked him, saying, `Rabbi, who did sin, this one or his parents, that he should be born blind?'

И учениците Му Го попитаха: Учителю, поради чий грях - негов ли или на родителите му, той се е родил сляп?

3 J esus answered, `Neither did this one sin nor his parents, but that the works of God may be manifested in him;

Исус отговори: Нито поради негов грях, нито на родителите му, но за да се изявят в него Божиите дела.

4 i t behoveth me to be working the works of Him who sent me while it is day; night doth come, when no one is able to work: --

Ние трябва да вършим делата на Този, Който Ме е пратил, докато е ден; идва нощ, когато никой не може да работи.

5 w hen I am in the world, I am a light of the world.'

Докато съм в света, Аз съм светлината на света.

6 T hese things saying, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and rubbed the clay on the eyes of the blind man, and said to him,

Като каза това, плю на земята, направи кал с плюнката и намаза с калта очите му;

7 ` Go away, wash at the pool of Siloam,' which is, interpreted, Sent. He went away, therefore, and did wash, and came seeing;

и му каза: Иди, умий се в къпалнята Силоам (което значи "пратен"). И така, той отиде, уми се и си дойде у дома прогледнал.

8 t he neighbours, therefore, and those seeing him before, that he was blind, said, `Is not this he who is sitting and begging?'

А съседите и онези, които преди го бяха виждали, че беше просяк, питаха: Не е ли този, който седеше и просеше?

9 o thers said -- `This is he;' and others -- `He is like to him;' he himself said, -- `I am.'

Едни казваха: Той е; други казваха: Не е, но прилича на него. Той отвръщаше: Аз съм.

10 T hey said, therefore, to him, `How were thine eyes opened?'

Тогава го попитаха: А как ти се отвориха очите?

11 h e answered and said, `A man called Jesus made clay, and rubbed my eyes, and said to me, Go away to the pool of Siloam, and wash; and having gone away and having washed, I received sight;'

Той отговори: Човекът, който се нарича Исус, направи кал, намаза очите ми и ми заръча: Иди на Силоам и се умий. И така, отидох и като се умих, прогледнах.

12 t hey said, therefore, to him, `Where is that one?' he saith, `I have not known.'

Тогава му казаха: Къде е Той? Отговори: Не зная.

13 T hey bring him to the Pharisees who once blind,

Заведоха при фарисеите човека, който преди беше сляп.

14 a nd it was a sabbath when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.

А беше събота, когато Исус направи кал и му отвори очите.

15 A gain, therefore, the Pharisees also were asking him how he received sight, and he said to them, `Clay he did put upon my eyes, and I did wash -- and I see.'

И така, фарисеите също го питаха как е прогледнал. И той им каза: Сложи кал на очите ми, умих се и гледам.

16 O f the Pharisees, therefore, certain said, `This man is not from God, because the sabbath he doth not keep;' others said, `How is a man -- a sinful one -- able to do such signs?' and there was a division among them.

Затова някои от фарисеите казаха: Този човек не е от Бога, защото не пази съботата. А други казваха: Как може грешен човек да върши такива знамения? И възникна раздор помежду им.

17 T hey said to the blind man again, `Thou -- what dost thou say of him -- that he opened thine eyes?'

Попитаха пак слепеца: Ти какво ще кажеш за Него, след като ти е отворил очите? И той каза: Пророк е.

18 a nd he said -- `He is a prophet.' The Jews, therefore, did not believe concerning him that he was blind and did receive sight, till that they called the parents of him who received sight,

Но юдеите не вярваха, че е бил сляп и прогледнал, докато не повикаха родителите му

19 a nd they asked them, saying, `Is your son, of whom ye say that he was born blind? how then now doth he see?'

и ги попитаха: Този ли е вашият син, за когото казвате, че се е родил сляп? А сега как вижда?

20 H is parents answered them and said, `We have known that this is our son, and that he was born blind;

Родителите отговориха: Знаем, че този е нашият син и че се роди сляп;

21 a nd how he now seeth, we have not known; or who opened his eyes, we have not known; himself is of age, ask him; he himself shall speak concerning himself.'

а сега как вижда, не знаем, или кой му е отворил очите, също не знаем. Питайте него; той е пълнолетен, нека сам говори за себе си!

22 T hese things said his parents, because they were afraid of the Jews, for already had the Jews agreed together, that if any one may confess him -- Christ, he may be put out of the synagogue;

Това казаха родителите му, защото се бояха от юдеите; понеже юдеите вече се бяха споразумели помежду си да отлъчат от синагогата онзи, който би Го изповядал като Христос.

23 b ecause of this his parents said -- `He is of age, ask him.'

Затова и неговите родители казаха: Той е пълнолетен, питайте него.

24 T hey called, therefore, a second time the man who was blind, and they said to him, `Give glory to God, we have known that this man is a sinner;'

И така, повикаха отново човека, който преди беше сляп, и му казаха: Въздай слава на Бога; ние знаем, че този човек е грешник.

25 h e answered, therefore, and said, `If he be a sinner -- I have not known, one thing I have known, that, being blind, now I see.'

А той отговори: Дали е грешник, не зная; едно зная, че бях сляп, а сега виждам.

26 A nd they said to him again, `What did he to thee? how did he open thine eyes?'

Затова го попитаха: Какво ти направи? Как ти отвори очите?

27 H e answered them, `I told you already, and ye did not hear; why again do ye wish to hear? do ye also wish to become his disciples?'

Той отговори: Казах ви вече и не чухте; защо искате пак да чуете? Да не би и вие да искате да Му станете ученици?

28 T hey reviled him, therefore, and said, `Thou art his disciple, and we are Moses' disciples;

Тогава те го наругаха и казаха: Ти си Негов ученик; а ние сме Моисееви ученици.

29 w e have known that God hath spoken to Moses, but this one -- we have not known whence he is.'

Ние знаем, че на Моисей Сам Бог е говорил, а Този не знаем откъде е.

30 T he man answered and said to them, `Why, in this is a wonderful thing, that ye have not known whence he is, and he opened my eyes!

Човекът им отговори: Това е чудното, че вие не знаете откъде е, но въпреки това ми отвори очите.

31 a nd we have known that God doth not hear sinners, but, if any one may be a worshipper of God, and may do His will, him He doth hear;

Знаем, че Бог не слуша грешници; но ако някой е благочестив и върши Божията воля, него слуша.

32 f rom the age it was not heard, that any one did open eyes of one who hath been born blind;

А откак свят светува, не се е чуло някой да е отворил очи на слепороден човек.

33 i f this one were not from God, he were not able to do anything.'

Ако Този Човек не беше от Бога, не би могъл нищо да направи.

34 T hey answered and said to him, `In sins thou wast born altogether, and thou dost teach us!' and they cast him forth without.

Те му отговориха: Ти цял в грехове си роден и нас ли поучаваш? И го изпъдиха навън.

35 J esus heard that they cast him forth without, and having found him, he said to him, `Dost thou believe in the Son of God?'

Исус чу, че го изпъдили навън, и като го намери, му каза: Ти вярваш ли в Божия Син?

36 h e answered and said, `Who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?'

Той отговори: А Кой е Той, Господи, за да вярвам в Него?

37 A nd Jesus said to him, `Thou hast both seen him, and he who is speaking with thee is he;'

Исус му каза: И си Го видял, и Който говори с тебе, Той е.

38 a nd he said, `I believe, sir,' and bowed before him.

А човекът каза: Вярвам, Господи; и Му се поклони.

39 A nd Jesus said, `For judgment I to this world did come, that those not seeing may see, and those seeing may become blind.'

И Исус каза: За осъждение дойдох на този свят, за да виждат невиждащите, а виждащите да ослепеят.

40 A nd those of the Pharisees who were with him heard these things, and they said to him, `Are we also blind?'

Някои от фарисеите, които бяха с Него, като чуха това, Му казаха: Да не сме и ние слепи?

41 J esus said to them, `If ye were blind, ye were not having had sin, but now ye say -- We see, therefore doth your sin remain.

Исус им каза: Ако бяхте слепи, не бихте имали грях, но понеже сега казвате: Виждаме, грехът ви остава.
