1 A nd Jacob lifteth up his eyes, and looketh, and lo, Esau is coming, and with him four hundred men; and he divideth the children unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two maid-servants;

След това Яков, като погледна, видя, че идваше Исав и с него четиристотин мъже; и раздели децата си на Лия и Рахил и на двете слугини.

2 a nd he setteth the maid-servants and their children first, and Leah and her children behind, and Rachel and Joseph last.

Слугините и децата им сложи напред, Лия и децата ѝ - след тях, а Рахил и Йосиф най-назад.

3 A nd he himself passed over before them, and boweth himself to the earth seven times, until his drawing nigh unto his brother,

А сам той мина пред тях и се поклони до земята седем пъти, докато стигне при брат си.

4 a nd Esau runneth to meet him, and embraceth him, and falleth on his neck, and kisseth him, and they weep;

Исав се завтече да го посрещне, прегърна го, хвърли се на врата му и го целуна; и те заплакаха.

5 a nd he lifteth up his eyes, and seeth the women and the children, and saith, `What these to thee?' And he saith, `The children with whom God hath favoured thy servant.'

И като видя жените и децата, каза: Какви са ти тези? А Яков отговори: Това са децата, които Бог подари на слугата ти.

6 A nd the maid-servants draw nigh, they and their children, and bow themselves;

Тогава слугините и децата им пристъпиха и се поклониха.

7 a nd Leah also draweth nigh, and her children, and they bow themselves; and afterwards Joseph hath drawn nigh with Rachel, and they bow themselves.

Така пристъпиха и Лия, и децата ѝ и се поклониха; а после пристъпиха Йосиф и Рахил и се поклониха.

8 A nd he saith, `What to thee all this camp which I have met?' and he saith, `To find grace in the eyes of my lord.'

Тогава Исав каза: За какво ти е цялата тази дружина, която срещнах? А той отговори: За да придобия благоволението на господаря си.

9 A nd Esau saith, `I have abundance, my brother, let it be to thyself that which thou hast.'

А Исав каза: Имам доволно, брате мой; ти задръж своите си.

10 A nd Jacob saith, `Nay, I pray thee, if, I pray thee, I have found grace in thine eyes, then thou hast received my present from my hand, because that I have seen thy face, as the seeing of the face of God, and thou art pleased with me;

Но Яков отвърна: Не, моля ти се, ако съм придобил твоето благоволение, приеми подаръка ми от ръцете ми, тъй като видях лицето ти като че видях Божие лице, понеже ти беше благосклонен към мене.

11 r eceive, I pray thee, my blessing, which is brought to thee, because God hath favoured me, and because I have all;' and he presseth on him, and he receiveth,

Приеми, моля, подаръка ми, който ти е принесен; защото Бог е постъпил благо към мен и имам всичко. И като настояваше, той го прие.

12 a nd saith, `Let us journey and go on, and I go on before thee.'

Тогава Исав каза: Да тръгнем и да вървим, и аз ще вървя пред тебе.

13 A nd he saith unto him, `My lord knoweth that the children tender, and the suckling flock and the herd with me; when they have beaten them one day, then hath all the flock died.

Но Яков му каза: Господарят ми знае, че децата ми са неопитни и че имам със себе си дойни овце и говеда; и ако ги пресилим само един ден, цялото стадо ще измре.

14 L et my lord, I pray thee, pass over before his servant, and I -- I lead on gently, according to the foot of the work which before me, and to the foot of the children, until that I come unto my lord, to Seir.'

Господарят ми нека замине, моля, пред слугата си и аз ще карам полека според вървежа на добитъка, който е пред мен, и според вървежа на децата, докато стигна при господаря си в Сиир.

15 A nd Esau saith, `Let me, I pray thee, place with thee some of the people who with me;' and he said, `Why this? I find grace in the eyes of my lord.'

А Исав каза: Поне да оставя с тебе неколцина от хората, които са с мене. Но той отговори: Няма нужда! Достатъчно ми е да придобия благоволението на господаря си.

16 A nd turn back on that day doth Esau on his way to Seir;

И така, в същия ден Исав се върна по пътя си за Сиир.

17 a nd Jacob hath journeyed to Succoth, and buildeth to himself a house, and for his cattle hath made booths, therefore hath he called the name of the place Succoth.

А Яков пристигна в Сокхот, където си построи къща и направи кошари за добитъка си; и затова мястото се нарича Сокхот.

18 A nd Jacob cometh in to Shalem, a city of Shechem, which in the land of Canaan, in his coming from Padan-Aram, and encampeth before the city,

И като се върна от Падан-арам, Яков дойде в Сихемовия град Салим, който е в Ханаанската земя, и се разположи пред града.

19 a nd he buyeth the portion of the field where he hath stretched out his tent, from the hand of the sons of Hamor, father of Shechem, for a hundred kesitah;

И от синовете на Емор, Сихемовият баща, купи за сто сребърника нивата, където разпъна шатрата си.

20 a nd he setteth up there an altar, and proclaimeth at it God -- the God of Israel.

Там издигна жертвеник; и го нарече Ел-елое-Израел.
