1 A nd in these days, the disciples multiplying, there came a murmuring of the Hellenists at the Hebrews, because their widows were being overlooked in the daily ministration,

А през тези дни, когато учениците се умножаваха, се надигна роптание измежду гръцките юдеи против еврейските затова, че при всекидневното раздаване на потребностите техните вдовици били пренебрегвани.

2 a nd the twelve, having called near the multitude of the disciples, said, `It is not pleasing that we, having left the word of God, do minister at tables;

Тогава дванадесетте свикаха всички ученици и казаха: Не е добре ние да оставим Божието слово и да прислужваме на трапези.

3 l ook out, therefore, brethren, seven men of you who are well testified of, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may set over this necessity,

И така, братя, изберете измежду вас седем души с добро име, изпълнени с Божия Дух и с мъдрост, които да поставим за посрещане на тези нужди.

4 a nd we to prayer, and to the ministration of the word, will give ourselves continually.'

А ние ще постоянстваме в молитвата и в служение на словото.

5 A nd the thing was pleasing before all the multitude, and they did choose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a proselyte of Antioch,

И това предложение се хареса на цялото множество; и избраха Стефан - мъж, пълен с вяра и със Святия Дух, и Филип, Прохор, Никанор, Тимон, Пармен и Николай, един прозелит от Антиохия.

6 w hom they did set before the apostles, and they, having prayed, laid on them hands.

Тях поставиха пред апостолите; и те, като се помолиха, положиха ръце на тях.

7 A nd the word of God did increase, and the number of the disciples did multiply in Jerusalem exceedingly; a great multitude also of the priests were obedient to the faith.

И Божието учение растеше и броят на учениците в Йерусалим се умножаваше твърде много; и голямо множество от свещениците се подчиняваха на вярата. Стефан на съд пред Синедриона

8 A nd Stephen, full of faith and power, was doing great wonders and signs among the people,

А Стефан, пълен с благодат и сила, вършеше големи чудеса и знамения между народа.

9 a nd there arose certain of those of the synagogue, called of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of those from Cilicia, and Asia, disputing with Stephen,

Тогава някои от синагогата, наречена синагога на либертинците, и от киринейците и александрийците, и някои от Киликия и Азия се надигнаха и спореха със Стефан.

10 a nd they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit with which he was speaking;

Но не можаха да противостоят на мъдростта и Духа, с който той говореше.

11 t hen they suborned men, saying -- `We have heard him speaking evil sayings in regard to Moses and God.'

Тогава подучиха човеците да казват: Чухме го да говори хулни думи против Моисей и против Бога.

12 T hey did stir up also the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and having come upon, they caught him, and brought to the sanhedrim;

И подбудиха народа със старейшините и книжниците и като се нахвърлиха върху него, сграбчиха го и го докараха в Синедриона,

13 t hey set up also false witnesses, saying, `This one doth not cease to speak evil sayings against this holy place and the law,

където представиха лъжесвидетели, които казаха: Този човек непрестанно говори думи против това свято място и против закона;

14 f or we have heard him saying, That this Jesus the Nazarean shall overthrow this place, and shall change the customs that Moses delivered to us;'

защото го чухме да казва, че този Исус Назарянин ще разруши това място и ще измени обредите, които Моисей ни е предал.

15 a nd gazing at him, all those sitting in the sanhedrim saw his face as it were the face of a messenger.

И всички, които седяха в Синедриона, като се вгледаха в него, видяха лицето му, като че беше лице на ангел.
