1 A nd all the people are gathered as one man unto the broad place that before the water-gate, and they say to Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, that Jehovah commanded Israel.

Тогава целият народ се събра като един човек на площада, който беше пред портата на водата; и казаха на книжника Ездра да донесе книгата на Моисеевия закон, който Господ беше заповядал на Израел.

2 A nd Ezra the priest bringeth the law before the assembly, both of men and women, and every one intelligent to hear, on the first day of the seventh month,

И така, на първия ден от седмия месец свещеник Ездра донесе закона пред събранието от мъже и жени и от всички, които, като слушаха, можеха да разбират.

3 a nd he readeth in it before the broad place that before the water-gate, from the light till the middle of the day, over-against the men, and the women, and those intelligent, and the ears of all the people unto the book of the law.

И на площада, който беше пред портата на водата, той чете от него, от зори до пладне, пред мъжете и жените и онези, които можеха да разбират; и вниманието на целия народ беше в книгата на закона.

4 A nd Ezra the scribe standeth on a tower of wood that they made for the purpose, and Mattithiah standeth near him, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Urijah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right; and on his left Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchijah, and Hashum, and Hashbaddana, Zechariah, Meshullam.

А книжникът Ездра стоеше на висока дървена платформа, която бяха направили за тази цел; и при него стояха Мататия, Сема, Анайя, Урия, Хелкия и Маасия от дясната му страна; а от лявата му страна - Федайя, Мисаил, Мелхия, Асум, Асвадана, Захария и Месулам.

5 A nd Ezra openeth the book before the eyes of all the people -- for above all the people he hath been -- and at his opening all the people have stood up,

Ездра разгъна книгата пред целия народ (защото беше над целия народ); и когато я разгъна, целият народ станаха прави.

6 a nd Ezra blesseth Jehovah, the great God, and all the people answer, `Amen, Amen,' with lifting up of their hands, and they bow and do obeisance to Jehovah -- faces to the earth.

И Ездра благослови Господа, великия Бог; и целият народ отговори: Амин, амин!, като издигнаха ръцете си; и се наведоха и се поклониха на Господа с лицата си до земята.

7 A nd Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, giving the people understanding in the law, and the people, on their station,

А Исус, Ваний, Серевия, Ямин, Акув, Саветай, Одия, Маасия, Келита, Азария, Йозавад, Анан, Фелайя и левитите тълкуваха закона на народа, който стоеше на мястото си.

8 a nd they read in the book, in the law of God, explaining -- so as to give the meaning, and they give understanding to the convocation.

Четоха ясно от книгата на Божия закон и дадоха значението, като им тълкуваха прочетеното.

9 A nd Nehemiah -- he the Tirshatha -- saith (and Ezra the priest, the scribe, and the Levites who are instructing the people) to all the people, `To-day is holy to Jehovah your God, do not mourn, nor weep:' for all the people are weeping at their hearing the words of the law.

Неемия, който беше управител, и свещеник Ездра, книжникът, и левитите, които тълкуваха на народа, казаха на целия народ: Този ден е свят на Господа, вашия Бог; не тъжете, нито плачете (защото целият народ плачеше, като чу думите на закона).

10 A nd he saith to them, `Go, eat fat things, and drink sweet things, and sent portions to him for whom nothing is prepared, for to-day holy to our Lord, and be not grieved, for the joy of Jehovah is your strength.'

Тогава им каза: Идете, яжте тлъсто и пийте сладко, и пратете дялове на тези, които нямат нищо приготвено, защото денят е свят на Господа; и не скърбете, защото радостта в Господа е вашата сила.

11 A nd the Levites are keeping all the people silent, saying, `Be silent, for to-day holy, and be not grieved.'

И левитите усмириха целия народ, като казваха: Мълчете, защото денят е свят; и не тъжете.

12 A nd all the people go to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great joy, because they have understood concerning the words that they made known to them.

И така, всички отидоха да ядат и пият, да изпратят дялове и да направят голямо увеселение, защото бяха разбрали думите, които им бяха известени.

13 A nd on the second day have been gathered heads of the fathers of all the people, the priests, and the Levites, unto Ezra the scribe, even to act wisely concerning the words of the law.

А на втория ден началниците на бащините домове на целия народ и свещениците, и левитите се събраха при книжника Ездра, за да се поучат с думите на закона.

14 A nd they find written in the law that Jehovah commanded by the hand of Moses, that the sons of Israel dwell in booths in the feast, in the seventh month,

И намериха писано в закона, че Господ беше заповядал чрез Моисей на израелтяните да живеят в колиби в празника на седмия месец

15 a nd that they proclaim and cause to pass over all their cities, (and in Jerusalem,) saying, `Go ye out to the mount, and bring leaves of the olive, and leaves of the oil tree, and leaves of the myrtle, and leaves of the palms, and leaves of thick trees, to make booths as it is written.'

и да обнародват и прогласяват това във всичките си градове, а и в Йерусалим, като кажат: Излезте в гората и донесете маслинови клони, клони от дива маслина, миртови клони, палмови клони и клони от гъстолистни дървета, за да направите колиби според предписаното.

16 A nd the people go out, and bring in, and make for themselves booths, each on his roof, and in their courts, and in the courts of the house of God, and in the broad place of the water-gate, and in the broad place of the gate of Ephraim.

И така, народът излезе и донесе клони, и бяха направени колиби, всеки върху покрива на къщата си, в дворовете си, в дворовете на Божия дом, на площада при портата на водата и на площада при Ефремовата порта.

17 A nd they make -- all the assembly of the captives of the captivity -- booths, and they sit in booths; for the sons of Israel had not done, from the days of Jeshua son of Nun, so unto that day, and there is very great joy.

Цялото събрание от онези, които се бяха върнали от плена, направиха колиби и седнаха в колибите; защото от времето на Исус, Навиновия син, до онзи ден израелтяните не бяха правили така. И настана много голямо веселие.

18 A nd he readeth in the book of the law of God day by day, from the first day till the last day, and they make a feast seven days, and on the eighth day a restraint, according to the ordinance.

При това всеки ден, от първия до последния ден, се четеше от книгата на Божия закон. И пазеха празника седем дни; а на осмия ден имаше тържествено събрание според разпоредбите.
