1 A nd a messenger of Jehovah goeth up from Gilgal unto Bochim,

Ангел Господен дойде от Галгал в Бохим и каза: Изведох ви от Египет и ви доведох в земята, за която се бях клел на бащите ви: Няма да наруша завета Си с вас довека.

2 a nd saith, `I cause you to come up out of Egypt, and bring you in unto the land which I have sworn to your fathers, and say, I do not break My covenant with you to the age; and ye -- ye make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land -- their altars ye break down; and ye have not hearkened to My voice -- what this ye have done?

Не сключвайте договор с жителите на тази земя, а съсипете жертвениците им! Вие обаче не послушахте гласа Ми. Защо постъпихте така?

3 A nd I also have said, I do not cast them out from your presence, and they have been to you for adversaries, and their gods are to you for a snare.'

Затова и Аз казах: Няма да ги изгоня пред вас; но те ще ви бодат в ребрата и боговете им ще ви бъдат примка.

4 A nd it cometh to pass, when the messenger of Jehovah speaketh these words unto all the sons of Israel, that the people lift up their voice and weep,

И когато ангелът Господен изговори тези думи на всички израелтяни, народът плака силно.

5 a nd they call the name of that place Bochim, and sacrifice there to Jehovah.

Затова нарекоха онова място Бохим; и там принесоха жертва на Господа. Смърт и погребение на Исус Навин

6 A nd Joshua sendeth the people away, and the sons of Israel go, each to his inheritance, to possess the land;

Когато Исус разпусна народа, всички израелтяни се прибраха в земята на наследството си, за да я притежават.

7 a nd the people serve Jehovah all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who prolonged days after Joshua, who saw all the great work of Jehovah which He did to Israel.

И народът служеше на Господа през всички дни на Исус и през всички дни на старейшините, които надживяха Исус, които видяха всички велики дела, които Господ беше извършил в Израел.

8 A nd Joshua son of Nun, servant of Jehovah, dieth, a son of a hundred and ten years,

И Господният слуга Исус, Навиновият син, умря на възраст сто и десет години.

9 a nd they bury him in the border of his inheritance, in Timnath-Heres, in the hill-country of Ephraim, on the north of mount Gaash;

Погребаха го в земята на наследството му, в Тамнат-арес, в хълмистата земя на Ефрем, на север от хълма Гаас.

10 a nd also all that generation have been gathered unto their fathers, and another generation riseth after them who have not known Jehovah, and even the work which He hath done to Israel.

И цялото това поколение се прибра при бащите си, а след тях дойде друго поколение, което не познаваше Господа, нито делата, които беше извършил за Израел. Призоваване и мисия на съдиите

11 A nd the sons of Israel do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and serve the Baalim,

И израелтяните извършиха зло пред Господа, като се покланяха на ваалимите.

12 a nd forsake Jehovah, God of their fathers, who bringeth them out from the land of Egypt, and go after other gods (of the gods of the peoples who round about them), and bow themselves to them, and provoke Jehovah,

Те изоставиха Господа, Бога на бащите си, Който ги беше извел от Египетската земя, и се покланяха на други богове - боговете на племената, които бяха около тях. Като им се покланяха, те разгневиха Господа.

13 y ea, they forsake Jehovah, and do service to Baal and to Ashtaroth.

Те изоставиха Господа и служеха на Ваал и на астартите.

14 A nd the anger of Jehovah burneth against Israel, and He giveth them into the hand of spoilers, and they spoil them, and He selleth them into the hand of their enemies round about, and they have not been able any more to stand before their enemies;

Гневът на Господа пламна против Израел и Той позволи на грабители да ги ограбват; и ги предаде на околните им неприятели, така че не можаха вече да устоят на враговете си.

15 i n every where they have gone out, the hand of Jehovah hath been against them for evil, as Jehovah hath spoken, and as Jehovah hath sworn to them, and they are distressed -- greatly.

Където и да излизаха, Господнята ръка беше против тях в злините, както Господ беше говорил и им се беше клел. Те изпаднаха в голямо утеснение.

16 A nd Jehovah raiseth up judges, and they save them from the hand of their spoilers;

Тогава Господ издигаше съдии, които ги избавяха от грабителите им.

17 a nd also unto their judges they have not hearkened, but have gone a-whoring after other gods, and bow themselves to them; they have turned aside haste out of the way which their fathers walked to obey the commands of Jehovah -- they have not done so.

Но те и съдиите си не слушаха, а блудстваха след други богове и им се кланяха; скоро се отклониха от пътя, в който ходеха бащите им, които слушаха Господните заповеди; те обаче не направиха така.

18 A nd when Jehovah raised up to them judges -- then was Jehovah with the judge, and saved them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for it repenteth Jehovah, because of their groaning from the presence of their oppressors, and of those thrusting them away.

И когато Господ издигаше съдии над тях, Той беше със съдията и ги избавяше от враговете им през всичките дни на съдията; защото Господ се смиляваше заради оплакванията им от онези, които ги потискаха и притесняваха.

19 A nd it hath come to pass, at the death of the judge -- they turn back and have done corruptly above their fathers, to go after other gods, to serve them, and to bow themselves to them; they have not fallen from their doings, and from their stiff way.

А след смъртта на съдията те се връщаха и се развращаваха по-зле от бащите си, като се покланяха на други богове, за да им служат и да им се кланят. Те не се отказваха от делата си и упорито следваха пътя си.

20 A nd the anger of Jehovah doth burn against Israel, and He saith, `Because that this nation have transgressed My covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened to My voice --

Затова гневът на Господа пламна против Израел и Той каза: Понеже този народ престъпи завета Ми, който съм заповядал на бащите им, и не послушаха гласа Ми,

21 I also continue not to dispossess any from before them of the nations which Joshua hath left when he dieth,

то и Аз няма да изгоня вече пред тях нито един от народите, които Исус остави, когато умря,

22 i n order to try Israel by them, whether they are keeping the way of Jehovah, to go in it, as their fathers kept or not.'

за да изпитам чрез тях Израел дали ще пазят Господния път и ще ходят в него, както го пазиха бащите им, или не.

23 A nd Jehovah leaveth these nations, so as not to dispossess them hastily, and did not give them into the hand of Joshua.

И така, Господ остави тези народи, не ги изгони веднага и не ги предаде на Исус.
