1 W hat, then, shall we say? shall we continue in the sin that the grace may abound?

Ce vom zice dar? Să păcătuim mereu, ca să se înmulţească harul?

2 l et it not be! we who died to the sin -- how shall we still live in it?

Nicidecum! Noi, cari am murit faţă de păcat, cum să mai trăim în păcat?

3 a re ye ignorant that we, as many as were baptized to Christ Jesus, to his death were baptized?

Nu ştiţi că toţi cîţi am fost botezaţi în Isus Hristos, am fost botezaţi în moartea Lui?

4 w e were buried together, then, with him through the baptism to the death, that even as Christ was raised up out of the dead through the glory of the Father, so also we in newness of life might walk.

Noi deci, prin botezul în moartea Lui, am fost îngropaţi împreună cu El, pentruca, după cum Hristos a înviat din morţi, prin slava Tatălui, tot aşa şi noi să trăim o viaţă nouă.

5 F or, if we have become planted together to the likeness of his death, also we shall be of the rising again;

În adevăr, dacă ne-am făcut una cu El, printr'o moarte asemănătoare cu a Lui, vom fi una cu El şi printr'o înviere asemănătoare cu a Lui.

6 t his knowing, that our old man was crucified with, that the body of the sin may be made useless, for our no longer serving the sin;

Ştim bine că omul nostru cel vechi a fost răstignit împreună cu El, pentruca trupul păcatului să fie desbrăcat de puterea lui, în aşa fel ca să nu mai fim robi ai păcatului;

7 f or he who hath died hath been set free from the sin.

căci cine a murit, de drept, este izbăvit de păcat.

8 A nd if we died with Christ, we believe that we also shall live with him,

Acum, dacă am murit împreună cu Hristos, credem că vom şi trăi împreună cu El,

9 k nowing that Christ, having been raised up out of the dead, doth no more die, death over him hath no more lordship;

întrucît ştim că Hristosul înviat din morţi, nu mai moare: moartea nu mai are nici o stăpînire asupra Lui.

10 f or in that he died, to the sin he died once, and in that he liveth, he liveth to God;

Fiindcă prin moartea de care a murit, El a murit pentru păcat, odată pentru totdeauna; iar prin viaţa pe care o trăieşte, trăieşte pentru Dumnezeu.

11 s o also ye, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to the sin, and living to God in Jesus Christ our Lord.

Tot aşa şi voi înşivă, socotiţi-vă morţi faţă de păcat, şi vii pentru Dumnezeu, în Isus Hristos, Domnul nostru.

12 L et not then the sin reign in your mortal body, to obey it in its desires;

Deci, păcatul să nu mai domnească în trupul vostru muritor, şi să nu mai ascultaţi de poftele lui.

13 n either present ye your members instruments of unrighteousness to the sin, but present yourselves to God as living out of the dead, and your members instruments of righteousness to God;

Să nu mai daţi în stăpînirea păcatului mădulările voastre, ca nişte unelte ale nelegiuirii; ci daţi-vă pe voi înşivă lui Dumnezeu, ca vii, din morţi cum eraţi; şi daţi lui Dumnezeu mădulările voastre, ca pe nişte unelte ale neprihănirii.

14 f or sin over you shall not have lordship, for ye are not under law, but under grace.

Căci păcatul nu va mai stăpîni asupra voastră, pentrucă nu sînteţi supt Lege, ci supt har.

15 W hat then? shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? let it not be!

Ce urmează de aici? Să păcătuim pentrucă nu mai sîntem supt Lege ci supt har? Nicidecum.

16 h ave ye not known that to whom ye present yourselves servants for obedience, servants ye are to him to whom ye obey, whether of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness?

Nu ştiţi că, dacă vă daţi robi cuiva, ca să -l ascultaţi, sînteţi robii aceluia de care ascultaţi, fie că este vorba de păcat, care duce la moarte, fie că este vorba de ascultare, care duce la neprihănire?

17 a nd thanks to God, that ye were servants of the sin, and -- were obedient from the heart to the form of teaching to which ye were delivered up;

Dar mulţămiri fie aduse lui Dumnezeu, pentrucă, după ce aţi fost robi ai păcatului, aţi ascultat acum din inimă de dreptarul învăţăturii, pe care aţi primit -o.

18 a nd having been freed from the sin, ye became servants to the righteousness.

Şi prin chiar faptul că aţi fost izbăviţi de subt păcat, v'aţi făcut robi ai neprihănirii. -

19 I n the manner of men I speak, because of the weakness of your flesh, for even as ye did present your members servants to the uncleanness and to the lawlessness -- to the lawlessness, so now present your members servants to the righteousness -- to sanctification,

Vorbesc omeneşte, din pricina neputinţei firii voastre pămînteşti: dupăcum odinioară v'aţi făcut mădulările voastre roabe ale necurăţiei şi fărădelegii, aşa că săvîrşeaţi fărădelegea, tot aşa, acum trebuie să vă faceţi mădulările voastre roabe ale neprihănirii, ca să ajungeţi la sfinţirea voastră!

20 f or when ye were servants of the sin, ye were free from the righteousness,

Căci, atunci cînd eraţi robi ai păcatului, eraţi slobozi faţă de neprihănire.

21 w hat fruit, therefore, were ye having then, in the things of which ye are now ashamed? for the end of those death.

Şi ce roade aduceaţi atunci? Roade, de cari acum vă este ruşine: pentrucă sfîrşitul acestor lucruri este moartea.

22 A nd now, having been freed from the sin, and having become servants to God, ye have your fruit -- to sanctification, and the end life age-during;

Dar acum, odată ce aţi fost izbăviţi de păcat şi v'aţi făcut robi ai lui Dumnezeu, aveţi ca rod sfinţirea, iar ca sfîrşit: viaţa vecinică.

23 f or the wages of the sin death, and the gift of God life age-during in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Fiindcă plata păcatului este moartea: dar darul fără plată al lui Dumnezeu este viaţa vecinică în Isus Hristos, Domnul nostru.
