1 W hat, then, shall we say? shall we continue in the sin that the grace may abound?

¶ ¿Pues qué diremos? ¿Perseveraremos en el pecado para que la gracia crezca?

2 l et it not be! we who died to the sin -- how shall we still live in it?

En ninguna manera. Porque los que somos muertos al pecado, ¿cómo viviremos aún en él?

3 a re ye ignorant that we, as many as were baptized to Christ Jesus, to his death were baptized?

¿O no sabéis que todos los que somos bautizados en el Cristo Jesús, somos bautizados en su muerte?

4 w e were buried together, then, with him through the baptism to the death, that even as Christ was raised up out of the dead through the glory of the Father, so also we in newness of life might walk.

Porque somos sepultados juntamente con él a muerte por el bautismo; para que como el Cristo resucitó de los muertos a gloria del Padre, así también nosotros andemos en novedad de vida.

5 F or, if we have become planted together to the likeness of his death, also we shall be of the rising again;

Porque si fuimos plantados juntamente en él a la semejanza de su muerte, también lo seremos a la de su resurrección;

6 t his knowing, that our old man was crucified with, that the body of the sin may be made useless, for our no longer serving the sin;

convencidos que nuestro viejo hombre juntamente fue colgado en el madero con él, para que el cuerpo del pecado sea deshecho, a fin de que no sirvamos más al pecado.

7 f or he who hath died hath been set free from the sin.

Porque el que es muerto, justificado es del pecado.

8 A nd if we died with Christ, we believe that we also shall live with him,

Y si morimos con el Cristo, creemos que también viviremos con él;

9 k nowing that Christ, having been raised up out of the dead, doth no more die, death over him hath no more lordship;

seguros de que el Cristo, habiendo resucitado de los muertos, ya no muere; la muerte no se enseñoreará más de él.

10 f or in that he died, to the sin he died once, and in that he liveth, he liveth to God;

Porque el que es muerto, al pecado murió una vez; y el que vive, a Dios vive.

11 s o also ye, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to the sin, and living to God in Jesus Christ our Lord.

Así también vosotros, pensad que vosotros de cierto sois muertos al pecado; mas que vivís a Dios en Cristo Jesús, Señor nuestro.

12 L et not then the sin reign in your mortal body, to obey it in its desires;

No reine, pues, el pecado en vuestro cuerpo mortal, para que lo obedezcáis en sus concupiscencias;

13 n either present ye your members instruments of unrighteousness to the sin, but present yourselves to God as living out of the dead, and your members instruments of righteousness to God;

ni tampoco presentéis vuestros miembros al pecado por instrumentos de iniquidad; antes presentaos a Dios como resucitados de los muertos, y vuestros miembros a Dios, por instrumentos de justicia.

14 f or sin over you shall not have lordship, for ye are not under law, but under grace.

Para que el pecado no se enseñoree de vosotros; porque no estáis bajo la ley, sino bajo la gracia.

15 W hat then? shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? let it not be!

¿Pues qué? ¿Pecaremos, porque no estamos bajo la ley, sino bajo la gracia? En ninguna manera.

16 h ave ye not known that to whom ye present yourselves servants for obedience, servants ye are to him to whom ye obey, whether of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness?

¿O no sabéis que a quien os presentáis a vosotros mismos como siervos para obedecerle, sois siervos de aquel a quien obedecéis, sea del pecado para muerte, o sea de la obediencia para justicia?

17 a nd thanks to God, that ye were servants of the sin, and -- were obedient from the heart to the form of teaching to which ye were delivered up;

Gracias a Dios, que aunque fuisteis siervos del pecado, habéis obedecido de corazón a la forma de doctrina a la cual sois entregados;

18 a nd having been freed from the sin, ye became servants to the righteousness.

y libertados del pecado, sois hechos siervos de la justicia.

19 I n the manner of men I speak, because of the weakness of your flesh, for even as ye did present your members servants to the uncleanness and to the lawlessness -- to the lawlessness, so now present your members servants to the righteousness -- to sanctification,

Humana cosa digo, por la flaqueza de vuestra carne; que como para iniquidad presentasteis vuestros miembros para servir a la inmundicia y a la iniquidad, así ahora para santidad, presentéis vuestros miembros para servir a la justicia.

20 f or when ye were servants of the sin, ye were free from the righteousness,

Porque siendo antes siervos del pecado, ahora habéis sido hechos siervos de la justicia.

21 w hat fruit, therefore, were ye having then, in the things of which ye are now ashamed? for the end of those death.

¿Qué fruto, pues, teníais de aquellas cosas de las cuales ahora os avergonzáis? Porque el fin de ellas es muerte.

22 A nd now, having been freed from the sin, and having become servants to God, ye have your fruit -- to sanctification, and the end life age-during;

Mas ahora, librados del pecado, y hechos siervos a Dios, tenéis por vuestro fruto la santificación, y como fin la vida eterna.

23 f or the wages of the sin death, and the gift of God life age-during in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Porque la paga del pecado es muerte; mas la gracia de Dios es vida eterna en Cristo Jesús, Señor nuestro.
