1 A nd Naomi her mother-in-law saith to her, `My daughter, do not I seek for thee rest, that it may be well with thee?

¶ Y le dijo su suegra Noemí: Hija mía, ¿no he de buscarte descanso, para que te vaya bien?

2 a nd now, is not Boaz of our acquaintance, with whose young women thou hast been? lo, he is winnowing the threshing-floor of barley to-night,

¿No es Booz nuestro pariente, con cuyas criadas tú has estado? He aquí que él avienta la cebada esta noche en la era.

3 a nd thou hast bathed, and anointed thyself, and put thy garments upon thee, and gone down to the threshing-floor; let not thyself be known to the man till he complete to eat and to drink;

Te lavarás pues, y te ungirás, y vistiéndote tus vestidos, irás a la era; mas no te darás a conocer al varón hasta que él haya acabado de comer y de beber.

4 a nd it cometh to pass when he lieth down, that thou hast known the place where he lieth down, and hast gone in, and uncovered his feet, and lain down, -- and he doth declare to thee that which thou dost do.'

Y cuando él se acostare, repara tú el lugar donde él se acostare, e irás, y descubrirás los pies, y te acostarás allí; y él te dirá lo que hayas de hacer.

5 A nd she saith unto her, `All that thou sayest -- I do.'

Y ella le respondió: Haré todo lo que tú me mandares.

6 A nd she goeth down the threshing-floor, and doth according to all that her mother-in-law commanded her

¶ Y descendiendo a la era, hizo todo lo que su suegra le había mandado.

7 A nd Boaz eateth and drinketh, and his heart is glad; and he goeth in to lie down at the end of the heap; and she cometh in gently, and uncovereth his feet, and lieth down.

Y cuando Booz hubo comido y bebido, y su corazón estuvo contento, se retiró a dormir a un lado del montón. Entonces ella vino calladamente, y descubrió los pies, y se acostó.

8 A nd it cometh to pass, at the middle of the night, that the man trembleth, and turneth himself, and lo, a woman is lying at his feet.

Y aconteció, que a la medianoche el varón se estremeció, y echó mano; y he aquí, la mujer que estaba acostada a sus pies.

9 A nd he saith, `Who thou?' and she saith, `I Ruth thy handmaid, and thou hast spread thy skirt over thy handmaid, for thou a redeemer.'

Entonces él dijo: ¿Quién eres? Y ella respondió: Yo soy Rut tu sierva; extiende el borde de tu capa sobre tu sierva, porque redentor eres.

10 A nd he saith, `Blessed thou of Jehovah, my daughter; thou hast dealt more kindly at the latter end than at the beginning -- not to go after the young men, either poor or rich.

Y él dijo: Bendita seas tú del SEÑOR, hija mía; que has demostrado más misericordia al final que en el comienzo, no yendo tras los jóvenes, sean pobres o ricos.

11 A nd now, my daughter, fear not, all that thou sayest I do to thee, for all the gate of my people doth know that thou a virtuous woman.

Ahora pues, no temas, hija mía, yo haré contigo todo lo que tú dijeres, pues que todos los de la puerta de mi pueblo saben que eres mujer valiente.

12 A nd now, surely, true, that I a redeemer, but also there is a redeemer nearer than I.

Y ahora, aunque es cierto que yo soy el redentor, con todo eso hay otro redentor más cercano (de parentesco) que yo.

13 L odge to night, and it hath been in the morning, if he doth redeem thee, well: he redeemeth; and if he delight not to redeem thee, then I have redeemed thee -- I; Jehovah liveth! lie down till the morning.'

Reposa esta noche, y cuando sea de día, si aquel te redimiere, bien, redímate; mas si él no te quisiere redimir, yo te redimiré, vive el SEÑOR. Reposa, pues, hasta la mañana.

14 A nd she lieth down at his feet till the morning, and riseth before one doth discern another; and he saith, `Let it not be known that the woman hath come into the floor.'

¶ Y reposó a sus pies hasta la mañana, y se levantó antes que nadie pudiera conocer a otro. Y él dijo: Que no se sepa que la mujer haya venido a la era.

15 A nd he saith, `Give the covering which on thee, and keep hold on it;' and she keepeth hold on it, and he measureth six of barley, and layeth on her; and he goeth into the city.

Y le dijo a ella: Llega el velo que traes sobre ti, y ten de él. Y teniéndolo ella, él midió seis medidas de cebada, y se las puso a cuestas; y ella se fue a la ciudad.

16 A nd she cometh in unto her mother-in-law, and she saith, `Who thou, my daughter?' and she declareth to her all that the man hath done to her.

Así que vino a su suegra, ésta le dijo: ¿Qué pues, hija mía? Y le declaró ella todo lo que con aquel varón le había acontecido.

17 A nd she saith, `These six of barley he hath given to me, for he said, Thou dost not go in empty unto thy mother-in-law.'

Y dijo: Estas seis medidas de cebada me dio, diciéndome: Para que no vayas vacía a tu suegra.

18 A nd she saith, `Sit still, my daughter, till thou dost know how the matter falleth, for the man doth not rest except he hath completed the matter to-day.'

Entonces ella dijo: Reposa, hija mía, hasta que sepas como cae la cosa; porque aquel hombre no reposará hasta que hoy concluya el negocio.
