1 A nd David saith unto his heart, `Now am I consumed one day by the hand of Saul; there is nothing for me better than that I diligently escape unto the land of the Philistines, and Saul hath been despairing of me -- of seeking me any more in all the border of Israel, and I have escaped out of his hand.'

¶ Y dijo David en su corazón: Al fin seré muerto algún día por la mano de Saúl; nada, por tanto, me será mejor que fugarme del todo a la tierra de los filisteos, para que Saúl no se ocupe más de mí, y no me ande buscando más por todos los términos de Israel, y así me escaparé de sus manos.

2 A nd David riseth, and passeth over, he and six hundred men who with him, unto Achish son of Maoch king of Gath;

Se levantó, pues, David, y con los seiscientos hombres que estaban con él se pasó a Aquis hijo de Maoc, rey de Gat.

3 a nd David dwelleth with Achish in Gath, he and his men, each one with his household, David and his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail wife of Nabal the Carmelitess.

Y moró David con Aquis en Gat, él y los suyos, cada uno con su familia; David con sus dos mujeres, Ahinoam jezreelita, y Abigail, la que fue mujer de Nabal el del Carmelo.

4 A nd it is declared to Saul that David hath fled to Gath, and he hath not added any more to seek him.

Y vino la nueva a Saúl que David había huido a Gat, y no lo buscó más.

5 A nd David saith unto Achish, `If, I pray thee, I have found grace in thine eyes, they give to me a place in one of the cities of the field, and I dwell there, yea, why doth thy servant dwell in the royal city with thee?'

Y David dijo a Aquis: Si he hallado ahora gracia en tus ojos, séame dado lugar en algunas de las ciudades de la tierra, donde habite; porque ¿ha de morar tu siervo contigo en la ciudad real?

6 A nd Achish giveth to him in that day Ziklag, therefore hath Ziklag been to the kings of Judah till this day.

Y Aquis le dio aquel día a Siclag. De aquí fue Siclag de los reyes de Judá hasta hoy.

7 A nd the number of the days which David hath dwelt in the field of the Philistines days and four months;

Y fue el número de los días que David habitó en la tierra de los filisteos, cuatro meses y algunos días.

8 a nd David goeth up and his men, and they push unto the Geshurite, and the Gerizite, and the Amalekite, (for they are inhabitants of the land from of old), as thou comest in to Shur and unto the land of Egypt,

¶ Y subía David con los suyos, y hacían entradas contra los gesureos, los gerzeos, y los amalecitas; porque éstos habitaban desde hacia largo tiempo la tierra, desde como se va a Shur hasta la tierra de Egipto.

9 a nd David hath smitten the land, and doth not keep alive man and woman, and hath taken sheep, and oxen, and asses, and camels, and garments, and turneth back, and cometh in unto Achish.

Y hería David la tierra, y no dejaba con vida hombre ni mujer; y se llevaba las ovejas y las vacas y los asnos y los camellos y las ropas; y volvía, y se venía a Aquis.

10 A nd Achish saith, `Whither have ye pushed to-day?' and David saith, `Against the south of Judah, and against the south of the Jerahmeelite, and unto the south of the Kenite.'

Y decía Aquis: ¿Dónde habéis corrido hoy? Y David decía: Al mediodía de Judá, y al mediodía de Jerameel, o contra el mediodía de Ceni.

11 N either man nor woman doth David keep alive, to bring in to Gath, saying, `Lest they declare against us, saying, Thus hath David done, and thus his custom all the days that he hath dwelt in the fields of the Philistines.'

Ni hombre ni mujer dejaba con vida David, que viniera a Gat; diciendo: Por ventura darían aviso de nosotros, diciendo: Esto hizo David. Y ésta era su costumbre todo el tiempo que moró en tierra de los filisteos.

12 A nd Achish believeth in David, saying, `He hath made himself utterly abhorred among his people, in Israel, and hath been to me for a servant age-during.'

Y Aquis creía a David, diciendo en sí: El se hace abominable en su pueblo de Israel, y así será siempre mi siervo.
