1 T he children! obey your parents in the Lord, for this is righteous;

¶ Hijos, obedeced en el Señor a vuestros padres; porque esto es justo.

2 h onour thy father and mother,

Honra a tu padre y a tu madre, (que es el primer mandamiento con promesa),

3 w hich is the first command with a promise, `That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live a long time upon the land.'

para que te vaya bien, y seas de larga vida sobre la tierra.

4 A nd the fathers! provoke not your children, but nourish them in the instruction and admonition of the Lord.

Y vosotros, padres, no provoquéis a ira a vuestros hijos; sino criadlos en disciplina y amonestación del Señor.

5 T he servants! obey the masters according to the flesh with fear and trembling, in the simplicity of your heart, as to the Christ;

Siervos, obedeced a vuestros amos según la carne con temor y temblor, con sencillez de vuestro corazón, como al Cristo;

6 n ot with eye-service as men-pleasers, but as servants of the Christ, doing the will of God out of soul,

no sirviendo para ser visto, como los que agradan solamente a los hombres; sino como siervos del Cristo, haciendo de ánimo la voluntad de Dios;

7 w ith good-will serving, as to the Lord, and not to men,

sirviendo con buena voluntad, como al Señor, y no a los hombres;

8 h aving known that whatever good thing each one may do, this he shall receive from the Lord, whether servant or freeman.

sabiendo que el bien que cada uno hiciere, esto recibirá del Señor, sea siervo o sea libre.

9 A nd the masters! the same things do ye unto them, letting threatening alone, having known that also your Master is in the heavens, and acceptance of persons is not with him.

Y vosotros, amos, haced a ellos lo mismo, dejando las amenazas; sabiendo que el Señor de ellos y vuestro está en los cielos, y que no hay acepción de personas con él.

10 A s to the rest, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might;

¶ Por lo demás, hermanos míos, confortaos en el Señor, y en la potencia de su fortaleza.

11 p ut on the whole armour of God, for your being able to stand against the wiles of the devil,

Vestíos de toda la armadura de Dios, para que podáis estar firmes contra las asechanzas del diablo.

12 b ecause we have not the wrestling with blood and flesh, but with the principalities, with the authorities, with the world-rulers of the darkness of this age, with the spiritual things of the evil in the heavenly places;

Porque no tenemos lucha contra sangre y carne; sino contra principados, contra potestades, contra señores del siglo, gobernadores de estas tinieblas, contra malicias espirituales en los cielos.

13 b ecause of this take ye up the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to resist in the day of the evil, and all things having done -- to stand.

Por tanto, tomad toda la armadura de Dios, para que podáis resistir en el día malo, y estar firmes, acabada toda la obra.

14 S tand, therefore, having your loins girt about in truth, and having put on the breastplate of the righteousness,

Estad pues firmes, ceñidos vuestros lomos de la verdad, y vestidos de la cota de justicia.

15 a nd having the feet shod in the preparation of the good-news of the peace;

Y calzados los pies con la preparación del Evangelio de la paz;

16 a bove all, having taken up the shield of the faith, in which ye shall be able all the fiery darts of the evil one to quench,

sobre todo, tomando el escudo de la fe, con que podáis apagar todos los dardos de fuego del maligno.

17 a nd the helmet of the salvation receive, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the saying of God,

Y tomad el yelmo de la salud, y la espada del Espíritu; que es la palabra de Dios;

18 t hrough all prayer and supplication praying at all times in the Spirit, and in regard to this same, watching in all perseverance and supplication for all the saints --

por toda oración y ruego orando en todo tiempo en el espíritu, y velando en ello con toda instancia y súplica por todos los santos,

19 a nd in behalf of me, that to me may be given a word in the opening of my mouth, in freedom, to make known the secret of the good news,

¶ y por mí, para que me sea dada palabra en el abrir de mi boca con confianza, para hacer notorio el misterio del Evangelio,

20 f or which I am an ambassador in a chain, that in it I may speak freely -- as it behoveth me to speak.

por el cual soy embajador en cadenas; que resueltamente hable de él, como debo hablar.

21 A nd that ye may know -- ye also -- the things concerning me -- what I do, all things make known to you shall Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful ministrant in the Lord,

Mas para que también vosotros sepáis mis negocios, y cómo lo paso, todo os lo hará saber Tíquico, hermano amado y fiel siervo en el Señor,

22 w hom I did send unto you for this very thing, that ye might know the things concerning us, and that he might comfort your hearts.

al cual os he enviado para esto mismo, para que entendáis lo tocante a nosotros, y que consuele vuestros corazones.

23 P eace to the brethren, and love, with faith, from God the Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ!

Paz sea a los hermanos y caridad con fe, por Dios Padre y el Señor Jesús el Cristo.

24 T he grace with all those loving our Lord Jesus Christ -- undecayingly! Amen.

Gracia sea con todos los que aman al Señor nuestro, Jesús el Cristo en incorrupción. Amén.
