1 A fter these things hath the word of Jehovah been unto Abram in a vision, saying, `Fear not, Abram, I a shield to thee, thy reward exceeding great.'

¶ Después de estas cosas vino la palabra del SEÑOR a Abram en visión, diciendo: No temas, Abram; yo soy tu escudo, y tu galardón será sobremanera grande.

2 A nd Abram saith, `Lord Jehovah, what dost Thou give to me, and I am going childless? and an acquired son in my house is Demmesek Eliezer.'

¶ Y respondió Abram: Señor DIOS ¿qué me has de dar, siendo así que yo ando solo, y el mayordomo de mi casa es el damasceno Eliezer?

3 A nd Abram saith, `Lo, to me Thou hast not given seed, and lo, a domestic doth heir me.'

Dijo más Abram: He aquí no me has dado simiente, y he aquí el hijo de mi casa me hereda.

4 A nd lo, the word of Jehovah unto him, saying, `This doth not heir thee; but he who cometh out from thy bowels, he doth heir thee;'

Y luego la palabra del SEÑOR vino a él diciendo: No te heredará éste, sino el que saldrá de tus entrañas, aquél te heredará.

5 a nd He bringeth him out without, and saith, `Look attentively, I pray thee, towards the heavens, and count the stars, if thou art able to count them;' and He saith to him, `Thus is thy seed.'

Y le sacó fuera, y dijo: Mira ahora a los cielos, y cuenta las estrellas, si las puedes contar. Y le dijo: Así será tu simiente.

6 A nd he hath believed in Jehovah, and He reckoneth it to him -- righteousness.

Y creyó al SEÑOR, y se lo contó por justicia.

7 A nd He saith unto him, `I Jehovah who brought thee out from Ur of the Chaldees, to give to thee this land to possess it;'

¶ Y le dijo: Yo soy el SEÑOR, que te saqué de Ur de los caldeos, para darte a heredar esta tierra.

8 a nd he saith, `Lord Jehovah, whereby do I know that I possess it?'

Y él respondió: Señor DIOS ¿en qué conoceré que la tengo de heredar?

9 A nd He saith unto him, `Take for Me a heifer of three years, and a she-goat of three years, and a ram of three years, and a turtle-dove, and a young bird;'

Y le dijo: Apártame una becerra de tres años, y una cabra de tres años, y un carnero de tres años, una tórtola también, y un palomino.

10 a nd he taketh to him all these, and separateth them in the midst, and putteth each piece over against its fellow, but the bird he hath not divided;

Y tomó él todas estas cosas, y las partió por la mitad, y puso cada mitad una enfrente de otra; mas no partió las aves.

11 a nd the ravenous birds come down upon the carcases, and Abram causeth them to turn back.

Y descendían aves sobre los cuerpos muertos, y las ojeaba Abram.

12 A nd the sun is about to go in, and deep sleep hath fallen upon Abram, and lo, a terror of great darkness is falling upon him;

¶ Y fue que poniéndose el sol cayó sueño sobre Abram, y he aquí que un temor, una oscuridad grande cayó sobre él.

13 a nd He saith to Abram, `knowing -- know that thy seed is a sojourner in a land not theirs, and they have served them, and they have afflicted them four hundred years,

Entonces dijo a Abram: Ten por cierto que tu simiente será peregrina en tierra no suya, y les servirán, y serán afligidos cuatrocientos años.

14 a nd the nation also whom they serve I judge, and after this they go out with great substance;

Mas también a la gente a quien servirán, juzgo yo; y después de esto saldrán con grande riqueza.

15 a nd thou -- thou comest in unto thy fathers in peace; thou art buried in a good old age;

Y tú vendrás a tus padres en paz, y serás sepultado en buena vejez.

16 a nd the fourth generation doth turn back hither, for the iniquity of the Amorite is not yet complete.'

Y en la cuarta generación volverán acá; porque aun no está cumplida la iniquidad del amorreo hasta aquí.

17 A nd it cometh to pass -- the sun hath gone in, and thick darkness hath been -- and lo, a furnace of smoke, and a lamp of fire, which hath passed over between those pieces.

¶ Y sucedió que puesto el sol, y hubo oscuridad, y he aquí un horno de humo, y una antorcha de fuego que pasó por entre las mitades.

18 I n that day hath Jehovah made with Abram a covenant, saying, `To thy seed I have given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Phrat,

Aquel día hizo el SEÑOR pacto con Abram diciendo: A tu simiente daré esta tierra desde el río de Egipto hasta el río grande, el río Eufrates;

19 w ith the Kenite, and the Kenizzite, and the Kadmonite,

al cineo, y al cenezeo, y al cadmoneo,

20 a nd the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Rephaim,

al heteo, y al ferezeo, y al rafeo,

21 a nd the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Girgashite, and the Jebusite.'

y al amorreo, y al cananeo, y al gergeseo, y al jebuseo.
