1 A nd I, Paul, myself, do call upon you -- through the meekness and gentleness of the Christ -- who in presence, indeed humble among you, and being absent, have courage toward you,

¶ Os ruego, sin embargo, yo Pablo, por la mansedumbre y modestia del Cristo, (que presente ciertamente soy bajo entre vosotros, mas ausente soy confiado con vosotros);

2 a nd I beseech, that, being present, I may not have courage, with the confidence with which I reckon to be bold against certain reckoning us as walking according to the flesh;

ruego pues, que cuando estuviere presente, no sea necesario ser atrevido con la confianza de que soy estimado usar con algunos, que nos tienen como si anduviéramos según la carne.

3 f or walking in the flesh, not according to the flesh do we war,

Pues aunque andamos en la carne, no militamos según la carne.

4 f or the weapons of our warfare not fleshly, but powerful to God for bringing down of strongholds,

(Porque las armas de nuestra milicia no son carnales, sino poderosas de parte de Dios para la destrucción de fortalezas);

5 r easonings bringing down, and every high thing lifted up against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of the Christ,

destruyendo consejos, y toda altura que se levanta contra la ciencia de Dios, y llevando cautivo todo pensamiento a la obediencia del Cristo.

6 a nd being in readiness to avenge every disobedience, whenever your obedience may be fulfilled.

Y estando prestos para castigar a toda desobediencia, cuando vuestra obediencia fuere cumplida.

7 T he things in presence do ye see? if any one hath trusted in himself to be Christ's, this let him reckon again from himself, that according as he is Christ's, so also we Christ's;

¶ ¿Miráis las cosas según la apariencia? El que está confiado en sí mismo que es de Cristo, esto también piense por sí mismo, que como él es de Cristo, así también nosotros somos de Cristo.

8 f or even if also anything more abundantly I shall boast concerning our authority, that the Lord gave us for building up, and not for casting you down, I shall not be ashamed;

Porque aunque me glorié aun un poco de nuestra potestad (la cual el Señor nos dio para edificación y no para vuestra destrucción), no me avergonzaré;

9 t hat I may not seem as if I would terrify you through the letters,

pero para que no parezca como que os quiero espantar por cartas.

10 ` because the letters indeed -- saith one -- weighty and strong, and the bodily presence weak, and the speech despicable.'

Porque a la verdad, dicen, las cartas son graves y fuertes; mas la presencia corporal flaca, y la palabra menospreciable.

11 T his one -- let him reckon thus: that such as we are in word, through letters, being absent, such also, being present, in deed.

Esto piense el tal, que cuales somos en la palabra por cartas estando ausentes, tales somos también presentes en la obra.

12 F or we do not make bold to rank or to compare ourselves with certain of those commending themselves, but they, among themselves measuring themselves, and comparing themselves with themselves, are not wise,

¶ Porque no osamos entremeternos o compararnos con algunos que se encomiendan a sí mismos; mas no entienden que ellos, consigo mismos se miden, y a sí mismos se comparan.

13 a nd we in regard to the unmeasured things will not boast ourselves, but after the measure of the line that the God of measure did appoint to us -- to reach even unto you;

Pero nosotros no nos gloriaremos más allá de nuestra medida, sino conforme a la medida de la regla, de la medida que Dios nos repartió, para llegar aun hasta vosotros.

14 f or not as not reaching to you do we stretch ourselves overmuch, for even unto you did we come in the good news of the Christ,

Porque no nos extendemos demasiado para llegar hasta vosotros; porque también hasta vosotros hemos llegado con el Evangelio del Cristo;

15 n ot boasting of the things not measured, in other men's labours, and having hope -- your faith increasing -- in you to be enlarged, according to our line -- into abundance,

no gloriándonos más allá de nuestra medida en trabajos ajenos; sino teniendo esperanza del crecimiento de vuestra fe, que seremos muy engrandecidos entre vosotros, conforme a nuestra regla.

16 i n the beyond you to proclaim good news, not in another's line in regard to the things made ready, to boast;

Y que anunciaremos el Evangelio a los que están más allá de vosotros, sin entrar en la medida de otro para gloriarnos en lo que ya estaba aparejado.

17 a nd he who is boasting -- in the Lord let him boast;

Mas el que se gloríe, gloríese en el Señor.

18 f or not he who is commending himself is approved, but he whom the Lord doth commend.

Porque no el que se alaba a sí mismo es aprobado; sino aquel a quien Dios alaba.
