1 A nd Naomi her mother-in-law saith to her, `My daughter, do not I seek for thee rest, that it may be well with thee?

ثُمَّ قالَتْ لَها حَماتُها: «يا ابْنَتِي، ألا يَنْبَغِي أنْ أسْعَى إلَى راحَتِكِ، لِيَكُونَ لَكِ خَيْرٌ؟

2 a nd now, is not Boaz of our acquaintance, with whose young women thou hast been? lo, he is winnowing the threshing-floor of barley to-night,

فَها بُوعَزُ الَّذِي كُنتِ تَعمَلِينَ مَعَ خادِماتِهِ، هُوَ واحِدٌ مِنْ أقرِبائِنا. وَهُوَ اللَّيلَةَ يَدرُسُ الشَّعِيرَ عِنْدَ البَيدَرِ.

3 a nd thou hast bathed, and anointed thyself, and put thy garments upon thee, and gone down to the threshing-floor; let not thyself be known to the man till he complete to eat and to drink;

فاغتَسِلِي وَتَعَطَّري وَالبِسِي ثَوباً جَمِيلاً، وَانزِلِي إلَى بَيدَرِ الدَّرسِ. وَلا تَدَعِي الرَّجُلَ يَعرِفَكِ حَتَّى يُنهِيَ طَعامَهُ وَشَرابَهُ.

4 a nd it cometh to pass when he lieth down, that thou hast known the place where he lieth down, and hast gone in, and uncovered his feet, and lain down, -- and he doth declare to thee that which thou dost do.'

اعْرِفِي المَكانَ الَّذِي يَنامُ فِيهِ. ثُمَّ اذهَبِي هُناكَ وَارْفَعي الغِطاءَ عَنْ قَدَمِيهِ، وَنامِي هُناكَ. وَبَعدَ ذَلِكَ هُوَ سَيُخبِرُكِ بِما عَلَيكِ فِعلُهُ.»

5 A nd she saith unto her, `All that thou sayest -- I do.'

فَقالَتْ راعُوثُ لَها: «سَأفعَلُ كَما تَقُولِينَ.»

6 A nd she goeth down the threshing-floor, and doth according to all that her mother-in-law commanded her

فَذَهَبَتْ راعُوثُ إلَى بَيدَرِ الدَّرسِ، وَفَعَلَتْ كَما أمَرَتْها حَماتُها.

7 A nd Boaz eateth and drinketh, and his heart is glad; and he goeth in to lie down at the end of the heap; and she cometh in gently, and uncovereth his feet, and lieth down.

فَأكَلَ بُوعَزُ وَشَرِبَ، وَكانَ فِي مِزاجٍ لَطيفٍ. ثُمَّ نامَ عِندَ طَرَفِ كَومَةِ الشَّعِيرِ. فَأتَتْ راعُوثُ بِهُدُوءٍ وَكَشَفَتْ قَدَمَيهِ وَتَمَدَّدَت هُناكَ.

8 A nd it cometh to pass, at the middle of the night, that the man trembleth, and turneth himself, and lo, a woman is lying at his feet.

وَفِي مُنتَصَفِ اللَّيلِ، تَقَلَّبَ بُوعَزُ فِي نَومِهِ، وَمالَ إلَى جَنْبِهِ الآخَرِ. فَإذا بِامْرَأةٍ مُستَلقِيَةٍ عِنْدَ قَدَمَيهِ!

9 A nd he saith, `Who thou?' and she saith, `I Ruth thy handmaid, and thou hast spread thy skirt over thy handmaid, for thou a redeemer.'

فَقالَ لَها بُوعَزُ: «مَنْ أنْتِ؟» فَقالَتْ راعُوثُ: «أنا خادِمَتُكَ راعُوثُ. افْرِدْ عَلَيَّ ثَوبَكَ، لِأنَّكَ حامٍ لِي.»

10 A nd he saith, `Blessed thou of Jehovah, my daughter; thou hast dealt more kindly at the latter end than at the beginning -- not to go after the young men, either poor or rich.

فَقالَ لَها بُوعَزُ: «يُبارِكُكِ اللهُ يا ابْنَتِي. هَذا يَدُلُّ عَلَى أمانَتِكِ أكْثَرَ مِنْ أيِّ شَيءٍ آخَرَ. فَقَدْ أتَيْتِ إلَيَّ، وَلَمْ تَذهَبِي وَراءَ الشَّبابِ، لا الأغنِياءَ مِنْهُمْ وَلا الفُقَراءَ.

11 A nd now, my daughter, fear not, all that thou sayest I do to thee, for all the gate of my people doth know that thou a virtuous woman.

وَالآنَ يا ابْنَتِي لا تَخافِي، فَسَأفعَلُ كُلَّ ما تَطلُبِينَهُ. لِأنَّ كُلَّ شَعبِي يَعرِفُ أنَّكِ تَسْتَحِقِّينَ الإحْسانَ.

12 A nd now, surely, true, that I a redeemer, but also there is a redeemer nearer than I.

صَحِيحٌ أنَّنِي مِنْ حُماتِكِ، لَكِنْ هُناكَ رَجُلٌ أكثَرُ قُرباً لَكِ مِنِّي.

13 L odge to night, and it hath been in the morning, if he doth redeem thee, well: he redeemeth; and if he delight not to redeem thee, then I have redeemed thee -- I; Jehovah liveth! lie down till the morning.'

امْكُثِي اللَّيلَةَ هُنا. وَفِي الصَّباحِ، إذا أرادَ الرَّجُلُ الآخَرُ أنْ يَقُومَ بِواجِبِ الحامِي، فَهَذا حَسَنٌ. فَإذا لَمْ يُرِد، أُقسِمُ بِاللهِ الحَيِّ، سَأقُومُ أنا بِهَذا الواجِبِ. فَنامِي الآنَ حَتَّى الصَّباحِ.»

14 A nd she lieth down at his feet till the morning, and riseth before one doth discern another; and he saith, `Let it not be known that the woman hath come into the floor.'

فَنامَتْ عِندَ قَدَميهِ حَتَّى الصَّباحِ. وَاسْتَيقَظَتْ قَبلَ الضِّياءِ، حَيْثُ لا يُمَيِّزُ النّاسُ مَلامِحَ الآخَرِينَ. إذْ قالَ بُوعَزُ: «لا يَنْبَغِي أنْ يَعْرِفَ أحَدٌ أنَّكِ أتَيْتِ إلَى بَيدَرِ الدَّرسِ.»

15 A nd he saith, `Give the covering which on thee, and keep hold on it;' and she keepeth hold on it, and he measureth six of barley, and layeth on her; and he goeth into the city.

وَقالَ لِراعُوثَ: «خُذِي عَباءَتَكِ الَّتِي تَلبَسِينَها وَافرِشِيها.» فَفَرَشَتْها، فَكالَ بُوعَزُ سِتَّةَ أكْيالٍ مِنَ الشَّعِيرِ فِي العَباءَةِ، وَوَضَعَها عَلَى كَتِفِها. فَرَجِعَتْ راعُوثُ إلَى البَلدَةِ.

16 A nd she cometh in unto her mother-in-law, and she saith, `Who thou, my daughter?' and she declareth to her all that the man hath done to her.

وَجاءَتْ راعُوثُ إلَى بَيتِ حَماتِها. فَقالَتْ نُعمِي: «مَنْ هُناكَ؟» فَأخبَرَتها راعُوثُ بِكُلِّ شَيءٍ صَنَعَهُ بُوعَزُ لَها.

17 A nd she saith, `These six of barley he hath given to me, for he said, Thou dost not go in empty unto thy mother-in-law.'

وَقالَتْ أيضاً: «وَكَذَلِكَ أعطانِي هَذِهِ الأكْيالَ السِّتَّةَ مِنَ الشَّعِيرِ. فَقَدْ قالَ: ‹لا يَنْبَغِي أنْ تَذهَبِي إلَى بَيْتِ حَماتِكِ فارِغَةَ اليَدَينِ.›»

18 A nd she saith, `Sit still, my daughter, till thou dost know how the matter falleth, for the man doth not rest except he hath completed the matter to-day.'

فَقالَتْ نُعمِي لَها: «اجلِسِي هُنا حَتَّى تَعْرِفِي ماذا سَيَحدُثُ. فَبُوعَزُ لَنْ يَهْدأ حَتَّى يُنْهِيَ هَذا الأمْرَ اليَومَ.»
