1 A nd it cometh to pass, when Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem heareth that Joshua hath captured Ai, and doth devote it (as he had done to Jericho and to her king so he hath done to Ai and to her king), and that the inhabitants of Gibeon have made peace with Israel, and are in their midst, --

وَحِينَ سَمِعَ أدُونِي صادَقَ مَلِكُ مَدينَةِ القُدْسِ أنَّ يَشُوعَ سَيطَرَ عَلَى عايَ وَدَمَّرَها تَماماً، وَأنَّهُ عَمِلَ بِمَلِكِها كَما عَمِلَ بِأرِيحا وَمَلِكِها، وَأنَّ سُكّانَ جِبعُونَ قَدْ عَمِلُوا مُعاهَدَةَ سَلامٍ مَعَ إسْرائِيلَ، وَأنَّهُمْ كانُوا ساكِنِينَ فِي جِوارِهِمْ،

2 t hat they are greatly afraid, because Gibeon a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it greater than Ai, and all its men -- heroes.

خافَ هوَ وَشَعبُهُ كَثِيراً لِأنَّ جِبعُونَ كانَتْ مَدِينَةً عَظِيمَةً كَإحدَى المُدُنِ المَلَكِيَّةِ. وَلِأنَّها كانَتْ أعظَمَ مِنْ عايَ، وَلأنَّ كُلَّ رِجالِها كانُوا مُحُارِبِينَ مَهَرَةً.

3 A nd Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem sendeth unto Hoham king of Hebron, and unto Piram king of Jarmuth, and unto Japhia king of Lachish, and unto Debir king of Eglon, saying,

فَأرسَلَ أدُونِي صادَقَ مَلِكُ مَدينَةِ القُدْسِ هَذِهِ الرِّسالَةَ إلَى هُوهامَ مَلِكِ حَبْرُونَ وَفِرْآمَ مَلِكِ يَرْمُوتَ، وَيافِيعَ مَلِكِ لاخِيشَ، وَدَبِيرَ مَلِكِ عَجلُونَ:

4 ` Come up unto me, and help me, and we smite Gibeon, for it hath made peace with Joshua, and with the sons of Israel.'

«تَعالُوا وَساعِدُونِي فِي مُهاجَمَةِ جِبْعُونَ، لِأنَّها عَمِلَتْ مُعاهَدَةَ سَلامٍ مَعَ يَشُوعَ وَبَنِي إسْرائِيلَ.»

5 A nd five kings of the Amorite (the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon) are gathered together, and go up, they and all their camps, and encamp against Gibeon, and fight against it.

فاجتَمَعَ مُلُوكُ الأمُورِيِّينَ الخَمسَةُ، مُلُوكُ مَدينَةِ القُدْسِ وَحَبْرُونَ وَيَرْمُوتَ وَلاخِيشَ وَعَجلُونَ، مَعَ كُلِّ جُيُوشِهِمْ وَصَعِدُوا وَعَسْكَرُوا مُقابِلَ جِبْعُونَ وَهاجَمُوها.

6 A nd the men of Gibeon send unto Joshua, unto the camp at Gilgal, saying, `Let not thy hand cease from thy servants; come up unto us haste, and give safety to us, and help us; for all the kings of the Amorite, dwelling in the hill-country, have been assembled against us.'

فَأرسَلَ سُكّانُ جِبْعُونَ هَذِهِ الرِّسالَةَ إلَى يَشُوعَ فِي المُخُيَّمِ فِي الجِلْجالِ: «لا تَتَخَلَّ عَنّا نَحنُ خُدّامَكَ، اصْعَدْ إلَينا بِسُرعَةٍ وَخَلِّصْنا وَأعِنّا لِأنَّ كُلَّ مُلُوكِ الأمُورِيِّينَ السّاكِنِينَ فِي المِنطَقَةِ الجَبَلِيَّةِ اجتَمَعُوا مَعَ جُيُوشِهِمْ لِمُحارَبَتِنا.»

7 A nd Joshua goeth up from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, even all the mighty men of valour.

فَصَعِدَ يَشُوعُ مِنَ الجِلْجالِ مَعَ كُلِّ الجَيشِ بِمَنْ فِيهِمْ أمهَرُ المُحارِبِينَ.

8 A nd Jehovah saith unto Joshua, `Be not afraid of them, for into thy hand I have given them, there doth not stand a man of them in thy presence.'

وَقالَ اللهُ لِيَشُوعَ: «لا تَخَفْ مِنْهُمْ لِأنِّي سأنصرُكَ عَلَيهِم. لَنْ يَستَطِيعَ أحَدٌ مِنهُمُ الصُّمُودَ أمامَكَ.»

9 A nd Joshua cometh in unto them suddenly (all the night he hath gone up from Gilgal),

فَهاجَمَهُمْ يَشُوعُ بِشَكلٍ مُفاجِئٍ، بَعدَ أنْ سارُوا طَوالَ اللَّيلِ مِنَ الجِلْجالِ.

10 a nd Jehovah doth crush them before Israel, and it smiteth them -- a great smiting -- at Gibeon, and pursueth them the way of the ascent of Beth-Horon, and smiteth them unto Azekah, and unto Makkedah.

وَسَبَّبَ اللهُ لَهُمُ الرُّعبَ وَالتَّشْوِيشَ حِينَ رَأَوْا بَنِي إسْرائِيلَ. وَهَزَمَهُمْ بَنُو إسْرائِيلَ هَزِيمَةً تامَّةً فِي جِبْعُونَ، وَطارَدُوهُمْ فِي الطَّرِيقِ الصّاعِدِ إلَى بَيتِ حُورُونَ، وَهَزَمُوهُمْ عَلَى امْتِدادِ الطَّرِيقِ إلَى عَزِيقَةَ وَمَقِّيدَةَ.

11 A nd it cometh to pass, in their fleeing from the face of Israel -- they in the descent of Beth-Horon -- and Jehovah hath cast upon them great stones out of the heavens, unto Azekah, and they die; more are they who have died by the hailstones than they whom the sons of Israel have slain by the sword.

وَبَينَما كانُوا هارِبِينَ مِنْ إسْرائِيلَ فِي الطَّرِيقِ النّازِلِ مِنْ بَيتِ حُورُونَ، ألقَى اللهُ حِجارَةَ بَرَدٍ كَبِيرَةً عَلَيهِمْ مِنَ السَّماءِ فِي كُلِّ الطَّرِيقِ إلَى عَزِيقَةَ فَماتُوا. فَكانَ الَّذِينَ ماتُوا بِسَبَبِ حِجارَةِ البَرَدِ أكثَرَ مِنَ الَّذِينَ قَتَلَهُمْ بَنُو إسْرائِيلَ بِالسَّيفِ.

12 T hen speaketh Joshua to Jehovah in the day of Jehovah's giving up the Amorites before the sons of Israel, and he saith, before the eyes of Israel, `Sun -- in Gibeon stand still; and moon -- in the valley of Ajalon;'

وَكَلَّمَ يَشُوعُ اللهَ فِي ذَلِكَ اليَومِ الَّذِي فِيهِ أسلَمَ اللهُ الأمُورِيِّينَ لِبَنِي إسْرائِيلَ، وَقالَ أمامَ كُلِّ بَنِي إسْرائِيلَ: «قِفِي أيَّتُها الشَّمسُ عَلَى جِبْعُونَ، وَاثْبُتْ أيُّها القَمَرُ فَوقَ وادِي أيَّلُونَ.»

13 a nd the sun standeth still, and the moon hath stood -- till the nation taketh vengeance its enemies; is it not written on the Book of the Upright, `and the sun standeth in the midst of the heavens, and hath not hasted to go in -- as a perfect day?'

فَوَقَفَتِ الشَّمسُ وَالقَمَرُ ساكِنَينِ إلَى أنْ هَزَمَ بَنُو إسْرائِيلَ أعداءَهُمْ. ألَيسَ هَذا مَكْتُوباً فِي كِتابِ ياشَرَ؟ وَقَفَتِ الشَّمسُ فِي وَسَطِ السَّماءِ، وَتَأخَّرَتْ عَنِ الغُرُوبِ لِيَومٍ كامِلٍ.

14 A nd there hath not been like that day before it or after it, for Jehovah's hearkening to the voice of a man; for Jehovah is fighting for Israel.

لَمْ يَأتِ يَومٌ مِثلُهُ قَبلَهُ، وَلَنْ يَأتِيَ يَومٌ مِثلُهُ بَعدَهُ، يُسْمَعُ فِيهِ لِصَوتِ إنسانٍ بِهَذِهِ الطَّريقَةِ. لِأنَّ اللهَ حارَبَ مِنْ أجلِ إسْرائِيلَ.

15 A nd Joshua turneth back, and all Israel with him, unto the camp at Gilgal.

بَعدَ ذَلِكَ، عادَ يَشُوعُ إلَى المُخَيَّمِ فِي الجِلْجالِ مَعَ كُلِّ بَنِي إسْرائِيلَ.

16 A nd these five kings flee, and are hidden in a cave at Makkedah,

وَهَرَبَ هَؤُلاءِ المُلُوكُ الخَمسَةُ وَاختَبَأُوا فِي المَغارَةِ الَّتِي فِي مَقِّيدَةَ.

17 a nd it is declared to Joshua, saying, `The five kings have been found hidden in a cave at Makkedah.'

وَقِيلَ لِيَشُوعَ: «قَدْ وَجَدْنا المُلُوكَ الخَمسَةَ مُختَبِئِينَ فِي المَغارَةِ الَّتِي فِي مَقِّيدَةَ.»

18 A nd Joshua saith, `Roll great stones unto the mouth of the cave, and appoint over it men to watch them;

فَقالَ يَشُوعُ: «دَحرِجُوا حِجارَةً ضَخمَةً عَلَى مَدْخَلِ المَغارَةِ وَأقِيمُوا بَعضَ الرِّجالِ لِحِراسَتِهِمْ.

19 a nd ye, stand not, pursue after your enemies, and ye have smitten the hindmost of them; suffer them not to go in unto their cities, for Jehovah your God hath given them into your hand.'

لَكِنْ لا تَبْقُوا هُناكَ. طارِدُوا أعداءَكُمْ وَهاجِمُوهُمْ مِنَ الوَراءِ. لا تَسْمَحُوا لَهُمْ بِأنْ يَدْخُلُوا مُدُنَهُمْ، لِأنَّ إلَهَكُمْ نَصَرَكُمْ عَلَيهِمْ.»

20 A nd it cometh to pass, when Joshua and the sons of Israel finish to smite them -- a very great smiting, till they are consumed, and the remnant who have remained of them go in unto the fenced cities,

وَحِينَ انتَهَى يَشُوعُ وَبَنُو إسْرائِيلَ مِنْ قَتلِ أعدائِهِمْ – مَعَ أنَّ بَعْضَهُمْ تَمَكَّنَ مِنَ الفَرارِ وَدُخُولِ مُدُنٍ حَصِينَةٍ –

21 t hat all the people turn back to the camp, unto Joshua, Makkedah, in peace; none moved sharply his tongue against the sons of Israel.

عادَ جَيشُ إسْرائِيلَ بِسَلامٍ وَأمانٍ إلَى يَشُوعَ فِي المُخَيَّمِ فِي مَقِّيدَةَ. وَلَمْ يَجْرُؤ أحَدٌ أنْ يَتَكَلَّمَ ضِدَّهُمْ.

22 A nd Joshua saith, `Open ye the mouth of the cave, and bring out unto me these five kings from the cave;'

حِينَئِذٍ، قالَ يَشُوعُ: «افتَحُوا مَدْخَلَ المَغارَةِ وَأخْرِجُوا لِي هَؤُلاءِ المُلُوكَ الخَمسَةَ.»

23 a nd they do so, and bring out unto him these five kings from the cave: the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon.

فَفَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ، وَأحْضَرُوا إلَيهِ المُلُوكَ الخَمسَةَ مِنَ المَغارَةِ، مُلُوكَ القُدْسِ وَحَبْرُونَ وَيَرْمُوتَ وَلاخِيِشَ وَعَجلُونَ.

24 A nd it cometh to pass, when they bring out these kings unto Joshua, that Joshua calleth unto every man of Israel, and saith unto the captains of the men of war, who have gone with him, `Draw near, set your feet on the necks of these kings;' and they draw near, and set their feet on their necks.

وَحِينَ أحْضَرُوا هَؤُلاءِ المُلُوكَ إلَى يَشُوعَ، دَعا يَشُوعُ جَمِيعَ بَنِي إسْرائِيلَ، وَقالَ لِقادَةِ الجُيُوشِ الَّذِينَ كانُوا يُحارِبُونَ مَعَهُ: «اقتَرِبُوا إلَى هُنا وَضَعُوا أرْجُلَكُمْ عَلَى أعناقِ هَؤُلاءِ المُلُوكِ.» فَاقتَرَبُوا وَوَضَعُوا أرْجُلَهُمْ عَلَى أعْناقِهِمْ.

25 A nd Joshua saith unto them, `Fear not, nor be affrighted; be strong and courageous; for thus doth Jehovah do to all your enemies with whom ye are fighting;'

فَقالَ يَشُوعُ لَهُمْ: «لا تَخافُوا وَلا تَخُرْ عَزِيمَتُكُمْ. تَقَوُّوا وَتَشَجَّعُوا لِأنَّ اللهَ سَيَعمَلُ هَذا بِكُلِّ أعْدائِكُمُ الَّذِينَ سَتُحارِبُونَهُمْ.»

26 a nd Joshua smiteth them afterwards, and putteth them to death, and hangeth them on five trees; and they are hanging on the trees till the evening.

ثُمَّ ضَرَبَ يَشُوعُ هَؤُلاءِ المُلُوكَ وَقَتَلَهُمْ وَعَلَّقَهُمْ عَلَى خَمسَةِ أشْجارٍ. وَبَقُوا مُعَلَّقِينَ عَلَى الأشجارِ إلَى المَساءِ.

27 A nd it cometh to pass, at the time of the going in of the sun, Joshua hath commanded, and they take them down from off the trees, and cast them unto the cave where they had been hid, and put great stones on the mouth of the cave till this very day.

وَعِنْدَ غُرُوبِ الشَّمسِ أمَرَ يَشُوعُ بِأنْ يُنزِلُوهُمْ عَنِ الأشجارِ، فَفَعَلُوا. ثُمَّ ألقَوْا بِهِمْ فِي المَغارَةِ الَّتِي كانُوا مُختَبِئِينَ فِيها، وَوَضَعُوا حِجارَةً كَبِيرَةً عَلَى مَدْخَلِ المَغارَةِ. وَما زالَتِ الحِجارَةُ هُناكَ إلَى هَذا اليَومِ.

28 A nd Makkedah hath Joshua captured on that day, and he smiteth it by the mouth of the sword, and its king he hath devoted, them and every person who in it -- he hath not left a remnant; and he doth to the king of Makkedah as he did to the king of Jericho.

فِي ذَلِكَ اليَومِ، سَيطَرَ يَشُوعُ عَلَى مَقِّيدَةَ، وَقَتَلَ شَعبَها وَمَلِكَها. فَأفنَى الشَّعبَ وَكُلَّ شَيءٍ حَيٍّ فِيها، وَلَمْ يَترُكْ ناجِينَ مِنْهُمْ. عَمِلَ بِمَلِكِ مَقِّيدَةَ كَما عَمِلَ بِمَلِكِ أرِيحا. امتِلاكُ المُدُنِ الجَنُوبِيَّة

29 A nd Joshua passeth over, and all Israel with him, from Makkedah Libnah, and fighteth with Libnah;

وَانتَقَلَ يَشُوعُ وَجَمِيعُ بَنِي إسْرائِيلَ مَعَهُ مِنْ مَقِّيدَةَ إلَى لِبْنَةَ، وَحارَبُوها.

30 a nd Jehovah giveth also it into the hand of Israel, and its king, and it smiteth it by the mouth of the sword, and every person who in it -- it left not in it a remnant; and it doth to its king as it did to the king of Jericho.

وَأسْقَطَها اللهُ هِيَ وَمَلِكَها بِيَدِ الشَّعبِ. فَقَتَلُوا كُلَّ شَيءٍ حَيٍّ فِي المَدِينَةِ، وَلَمْ يَنْجُ مِنْهُمْ أحَدُ. وَعَمِلُوا بِمَلِكِها كَما عَمِلُوا بِمَلِكِ أرِيحا.

31 A nd Joshua passeth over, and all Israel with him, from Libnah to Lachish, and encampeth against it, and fighteth against it;

ثُمَّ انتَقَلَ يَشُوعُ وَكُلُّ إسْرائِيلَ مَعَهُ مِنْ لَبْنَةَ إلَى لاخِيشَ، وَعَسْكَرُوا مُقابِلَها، وَحارَبُوها.

32 A nd Jehovah giveth Lachish into the hand of Israel, and it captureth it on the second day, and smiteth it by the mouth of the sword, and every person who in it, according to all that it did to Libnah.

وَأسْقَطَها اللهُ بِيَدِ الشَّعبِ، فَسَيطَرُوا عَلَيها فِي اليَومِ التّالِي، وَقَتَلُوا كُلَّ شَيءٍ حَيٍّ فِيها، كَما عَمِلُوا بِلَبْنَةَ.

33 T han hath Horam king of Gezer come up to help Lachish, and Joshua smiteth him and his people, till he hath not left to him a remnant.

وَصَعِدَ هُورامُ مَلِكُ جاَزرَ لِمُساعَدَةِ لاخِيشَ، فَهَزَمَهُ يَشُوعُ مَعَ كُلِّ جَيشِهِ، وَلَمْ يَنْجُ مِنْهُمْ أحَدُ.

34 A nd Joshua passeth over, and all Israel with him, from Lachish to Eglon, and they encamp against it, and fight against it,

ثُمَّ انتَقَلَ يَشُوعُ وَكُلُّ إسْرائِيلَ مَعَهُ مِنْ لاخِيشَ إلَى عَجلُونَ، وَخَيَّمُوا مُقابِلَها وَحارَبُوها.

35 a nd capture it on that day, and smite it by the mouth of the sword, and every person who in it on that day he hath devoted, according to all that he did to Lachish.

وَسَيطَرُوا عَلَيها فِي ذَلِكَ اليَومِ وَقَتَلُوا كُلَّ شَعبِها وَأفنُوا مِنْها كُلَّ شَيءٍ حَيٍّ كَما عَمِلُوا بِلاخِيشَ.

36 A nd Joshua goeth up, and all Israel with him, from Eglon to Hebron, and they fight against it,

ثُمَّ صَعِدَ يَشُوعُ مَعَ كُلِّ إسْرائِيلَ مِنْ عَجلُونَ إلَى حَبْرُونَ وَحارَبُوهُا،

37 a nd capture it, and smite it by the mouth of the sword, and its king, and all its cities, and every person who in it -- he hath not left a remnant -- according to all that he did to Eglon -- and doth devote it, and every person who in it.

وَسَيطَرُوا عَلَيها، وَقَتَلُوا مَلِكَها وَكُلَّ شَيءٍ حَيٍّ فِي المَدِينَةِ وَفِي كُلِّ القُرَى المُجاوِرَةِ، وَلَمْ يَنْجُ مِنْهُمْ أحَدُ، كَما عَمِلُوا بِعَجلُونَ. وَدَمَّرَ يَشُوعُ المَدِينَةَ بِالكامِلِ مُهلِكاً كُلَّ شَيءٍ حَيٍّ فِيها.

38 A nd Joshua turneth back, and all Israel with him, to Debir, and fighteth against it,

ثُمَّ اتَّجَهَ يَشُوعُ وَكُلُّ إسْرائِيلَ مَعَهُ إلَى دَبِيرَ وَحارَبُوها.

39 a nd captureth it, and its king, and all its cities, and they smite them by the mouth of the sword, and devote every person who in it -- he hath not left a remnant; as he did to Hebron so he did to Debir, and to its king, and as he did to Libnah, and to its king.

فَسَيطَرُوا عَلَيها وَعَلَى مَلِكِها وَعَلَى كُلِّ قُراها المُحِيطَةِ بِها، وَقَتَلُوا وَأفنُوا كُلَّ شَيءٍ حَيٍّ فِيها، وَلَمْ يَنْجُ مِنْهُمْ أحَدُ. عَمِلَ يَشُوعُ بِدَبِيرَ وَمَلِكِها ما عَمِلَهُ بِحَبْرُونَ، وَما عَمِلَهُ لِلَبْنَةَ وَمَلِكِها.

40 A nd Joshua smiteth all the land of the hill-country, and of the south, and of the low-country, and of the springs, and all their kings -- he hath not left a remnant, and all that doth breathe he hath devoted, as Jehovah, God of Israel, commanded.

وَهَزَمَ يَشُوعُ كُلَّ الأرْضِ: المِنطَقَةَ الجَبَلِيَّةَ وَالنَّقَبَ وَالتِّلالَ الغَربِيَّةَ وَالمُنحَدَراتِ، وَكُلَّ مُلُوكِها. وَلَمْ يَبْقَ مِنْهُمْ ناجُونَ. فَقَدْ أفنَى كُلَّ شَيءٍ حَيٍّ فِيها كَما أمَرَ اللهُ إلَهُ إسْرائِيلَ.

41 A nd Joshua smiteth them from Kadesh-Barnea, even unto Gaza, and all the land of Goshen, even unto Gibeon;

وَهَزَمَ يَشُوعُ كُلَّ المُلُوكِ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قادَشَ بَرْنِيعَ وَحَتَّى غَزَّةَ، وَكُلَّ أرْضِ جُوشِنَ إلَى جِبْعُونَ.

42 a nd all these kings and their land hath Joshua captured one time, for Jehovah, God of Israel, is fighting for Israel.

وَأَسَرَ يَشُوعُ جَمِيعَ هَؤُلاءِ المُلُوكِ، وَسَيطَرَ عَلَى كُلِّ أرْضِهِمْ، لِأنَّ اللهَ ، إلَهَ إسْرائِيلَ، كانَ يُحارِبُ مِنْ أجلِهِمْ.

43 a nd Joshua turneth back, and all Israel with him, unto the camp at Gilgal.

حِينَئِذٍ، عادَ يَشُوعُ وَكُلُّ إسْرائِيلَ مَعَهُ إلَى المُخُيَّمِ فِي الجَلْجالِ.
